Speaker 1:
[00:01] Hey, Wowzer fans, Mindy here, and before we start the show, I wanted to share a huge announcement with you. You got the confetti ready, Reg? Introducing two what's in a wow, People Who Wow edition. That's right, this is a brand new revamped Getting to Know You game show that separates the wows from the what's of some of the world's most interesting people. We're talking people with the coolest jobs, amazing real kids like you, and more. Can pigeons be featured?

Speaker 2:
[00:38] That's a great question.

Speaker 1:
[00:39] I'll have to ask the host. You're right, I am the host, Reggie. Well, I'll get back to you on that. Anyhow, to celebrate this brand new revamped Two What's in a Wow, People Who Wow edition, I am throwing a huge watch party. That's right, watch party for the members of the World Organization of Wowzers. Why is it a watch party? Well, that's because this new revamped version of Two What's in a Wow, the People Who Wow edition is not just for your ear balls, Reggie, it's also for your eyeballs. If you want to get a sneak peek, we're playing the very first episode on Saturday, May 2nd in a members only watch party. Not a member yet? Grown ups, sign up today at tinkercast.com/wow to join the party. And if you're already a member, mark your calendars for May 2nd at 7 p.m. East Coast time and visit our events page for more information on how to join. We can't wait for you to hear and watch new episodes of Two What's in a Wow, People Who Wow later this May. But until then, let's get back to the show.

Speaker 3:
[02:00] Attention, all non-mouth-breathing grown-ups. This is a code red. I repeat, this is a code red. So listen very carefully. What I'm about to say will turn your world upside down. I've taken the wow machine back to 1985, and I'm transmitting to you from Hawkins, Indiana. Get ready for an all-new animated adventure from the creators of Stranger Things. Bundle up and join Eleven, Mike, Will, Dustin, Lucas, Max, and all of the most beloved characters as they uncover new mysteries, new monsters, and their greatest adventure yet. Return to Hawkins for a whole new dimension of the Stranger Things universe in this epic animated series rated TV 14. Stranger Things, Tales from 85, only on Netflix. Over and out.

Speaker 4:
[02:54] And now, for everyone's second favorite game show after, blaming that terrible smell on the family dog, it's Two What's and the Wow.

Speaker 5:
[03:36] And the category or theme for today is mountains.

Speaker 1:
[03:43] You know it, Guy Raz. Wowzers, in each of our three rounds today, Guy Raz and I will present you with three scientific statements about mountains.

Speaker 2:
[03:54] But, and this is a big but.

Speaker 1:
[03:58] Only one of those statements will be a true wow. The other two, just a couple of made up whaaats?

Speaker 5:
[04:05] Now, in each round, if you guess correctly, congratulations, you win a point.

Speaker 1:
[04:10] But, if you guess incorrectly, you must stop, drop into a redonkulous physical challenge.

Speaker 5:
[04:18] Okay, everyone ready to get this show going?

Speaker 2:
[04:22] Great, then let's get to it.

Speaker 5:
[04:24] Okay, round one. Which of the following statements is a true scientific wow? Is it A, Mount Everest is actually shrinking?

Speaker 1:
[04:35] Or is it B, Mount Everest can fit inside the ocean?

Speaker 5:
[04:41] Or is it C, many people no longer use sherpas to help them climb Mount Everest. They now just call an Uber.

Speaker 1:
[04:50] When you think you have the correct answer, shout, Yodel-ay-hoo-mee.

Speaker 2:
[04:55] Hey, Ranch, let's get a little thinking music up here.

Speaker 5:
[05:10] And time is up. Let's now reveal the winning wow.

Speaker 1:
[05:15] And to do just that, it's Ani from California.

Speaker 2:
[05:19] Ani, tell us, what's the winning wow?

Speaker 6:
[05:23] Hi, my name is Ani. My wow in the world is that Mount Everest can fit inside the ocean.

Speaker 1:
[05:31] Winner, winner, wet rocks for dinner.

Speaker 5:
[05:34] Thank you, Ani. Contestants, if you guess the answer B, that Mount Everest can fit inside the ocean, well, congratulations, you found the winning wow.

Speaker 1:
[05:45] At least the tip of Mount Everest would probably stick out of most places in the ocean, but not the Marianas Trench.

Speaker 5:
[05:53] That's right. The Marianas Trench in the Pacific Ocean is the deepest point on Earth. It's about 11 kilometers or 6.8 miles deep. And even though Mount Everest is the highest mountain above sea level, it could fit into the Marianas Trench with more than a mile to spare.

Speaker 1:
[06:13] Now, if you did not get that answer correct, you must stop, drop and take a bubble bath with some rocks.

Speaker 5:
[06:22] Okay, round two. Which of the following statements is a true scientific wow? Is it A, mountains are formed when two geological plates crash against each other?

Speaker 1:
[06:50] Hmm, lots to think about here. When you think you have the correct answer, go tell it on the mountain.

Speaker 5:
[07:10] And joining us by phone, it's Lane from Colorado with our winning wow.

Speaker 7:
[07:17] Hi, Mindy and Guy Raz. My wow in the world is that when two pressure plates accidentally bump into each other, they push up forming mountains.

Speaker 1:
[07:28] Winner, winner, Earth Crust for dinner.

Speaker 5:
[07:31] Thank you, Lane. Wowzers, if you guessed A, that mountains are formed when two geological plates crash against each other, well, congratulations. You've found the winning wow.

Speaker 1:
[07:43] Lane calls them pressure plates, but the Earth's crust is actually made up of tectonic plates. And sometimes they press against each other so hard that rocks burst through the Earth's surface.

Speaker 5:
[07:55] That's right, tectonic activity is the main way that mountains are formed. But lava from volcanoes and erosion from wind and water can actually help build mountains over long periods of time too.

Speaker 1:
[08:10] Now, if you did not get that answer correct, you must stop, drop and make a mountain out of a molehill. And now it's time to take a moment to thank our sponsors. Today's show is brought to you in part by Mountain Earrings, the latest fashion trend that comes to you from some of the Earth's most outstanding natural wonders. Tired of boring jewelry that doesn't stand out? Then Mountain Earrings are for you. Forget hoops or studs, these earrings are a rock solid way to elevate your fashion game. Just hook a little piece of the Rockies in your lobe, and you'll really make a splash.

Speaker 5:
[08:55] All right. Thank you, Mountain Earrings. Why don't we take a quick break and hear some other important messages for grownups.

Speaker 8:
[09:06] Two What's in a Wow will be right back. Grownups, this message is for you.

Speaker 9:
[09:13] Greetings, Earthlings. I am called Flip.

Speaker 10:
[09:17] And you can call me Mosey.

Speaker 9:
[09:19] And we are extraterrestrials, what you may call space aliens.

Speaker 10:
[09:25] Flip, you can't just blurt it out like that. The humans will get freaked out and think we're weird.

Speaker 9:
[09:30] Regardless, our star cruiser broke down, and we've got to wait 3,000 years for the repair ship to show up.

Speaker 10:
[09:38] So while we're waiting, we decided to make a podcast all about exploring your planet.

Speaker 9:
[09:43] We particularly enjoy interacting with many of the earthlings you call animals, like giraffes, pandas, and penguins.

Speaker 10:

Speaker 8:
[10:37] That's it. Now back to the show.

Speaker 5:
[10:43] Welcome back to Two What's and a Wow.

Speaker 1:
[10:47] The scientific game show that separates the Wow's from the What's.

Speaker 5:
[10:53] And now we're on to our final round of questions, round three. Which of the following statements is a true scientific wow? Is it A, Mount Everest is part of the world's oldest mountain range?

Speaker 1:
[11:08] Or is it B, snow never falls on Mount Kilimanjaro?

Speaker 5:
[11:15] Or is it C, Mount Everest is actually a young mountain?

Speaker 1:
[11:21] Take a second to think this over. And when you think you have the correct answer, find a grown up and make them your personal sherpa.

Speaker 5:
[11:38] And time is up. And joining us by phone with the answer, it's Gabriel from California. Gabriel, please tell us the winning wow.

Speaker 11:
[11:49] My wow is that Mount Everest, the tallest mountain in the world, is still considered a young mountain because the tectonic plates are still pushing it upward.

Speaker 9:
[12:00] Winner, winner, tectonic plates for dinner.

Speaker 5:
[12:03] That's right, Gabriel. Wowzers, if you guessed C, that Mount Everest is actually a young mountain, you found the winning wow. Congratulations.

Speaker 8:
[12:12] It's true.

Speaker 1:
[12:13] Mount Everest could be considered a young mountain and may not be done growing.

Speaker 5:
[12:18] And it's all about those tectonic plates. The more they push against each other, the more mountain gets squeezed up through the earth's crust.

Speaker 1:
[12:27] Now, if you did not get that answer correct, you must stop, drop and push your way out of the ground.

Speaker 8:
[12:37] Uh, Mindy?

Speaker 5:
[12:38] What was that?

Speaker 1:
[12:39] Oh, Guy Raz, that sound can mean only one thing.

Speaker 5:
[12:44] There was an avalanche in the parking lot?

Speaker 9:
[12:46] Well, probably.

Speaker 1:
[12:47] But that sound means it's time for today's winning Wowzers Prize. All of our contestants today will receive their very own invisible dinette set of tectonic plates. You can't really eat dinner off of them, but they're real sturdy.

Speaker 9:
[13:06] Reggie, cue the prize cannon.

Speaker 1:
[13:09] Fire away! Look at that, Guy Raz! Those plates will never break unless you smash them against each other.

Speaker 5:
[13:19] Well, that's about all the time we have for today, but if you want to keep the fun going, then become a member of the World Organization of Wowzers and unlock hundreds of activities.
