[00:00] No one goes to Hank's for his spreadsheets. They go for a darn good pizza. Lately, though, the shop's been quiet. So Hank decides to bring back the $1 slice. He asks Copilot in Microsoft Excel to look at his sales and costs and help him see if he can afford it. Copilot shows Hank where the money's going and which little extras make the dollar slice work. Now Hank says, I'll line out the door. Hank makes the pizza. Copilot handles the spreadsheets. Learn more at m365copilot.com/work.

[02:14] What's up, everybody? Welcome to the Kinda Funny Gamescast for Wednesday, April 22nd, 2026. I'm one of your hosts, Greg Miller, alongside the master of hype, Snowbike Mike.
Speaker 8:
[02:26] Good morning, Greg. Thank you for having me.
Speaker 7:
[02:27] Hello. Hello. Thank you for joining me. Thank you. Bringing your extensive Expanse knowledge to the table.
Speaker 8:
[02:34] I love the Expanse. I know you've been dipping your toe in. You and Tim, you tried.
Speaker 7:
[02:38] You guys talk about that in a second. We'll get to it in a second. I got I'm going to be we'll get to it in a second.
Speaker 8:
[02:44] OK, can't wait. I'm so excited.
Speaker 7:
[02:45] Over there, the Hispanic car throw up Texas Street, Latino heat, clicking heads, ripping them to shreds, globe shot and. Head shot, three point shooting, root and toot and nitro rifle from Twitch.TV. It's a decrypt as.
Speaker 3:
[02:59] How long has it been going on? Long time, long time.
Speaker 7:
[03:02] I just can't. I mean, but I've been doing it longer. Three point shooting, root and toot. Then I've been doing them trying to do this.
Speaker 3:
[03:08] I blame Nick even adding that into the thing. Just take it all out.
Speaker 7:
[03:11] How about we just call you Hispanic car?
Speaker 3:
[03:12] Throw remove all it out. I'm excited to be here. Hello.
Speaker 7:
[03:16] Now, are you an expanse person or just my Mass Effect person?
Speaker 3:
[03:19] Mass Effect, dude. I tried the Expanse, watched season one. Yeah, I never got back to it, much like I haven't finished a lot of TV shows. Wasn't for a lack of quality was over. I just I'd rather play games. You know, fair enough.
Speaker 7:
[03:30] That's my man. That's my man over there. You know what I mean?
Speaker 8:
[03:32] Yeah, but you're riding such a high on Lord of the Rings right now. That if you commit to the Expanse, you're going to ride a high. It won't be that high, but it will be high.
Speaker 3:
[03:41] I mean, you set expectations like that.
Speaker 8:
[03:42] What was the other show that you really liked that was in space? Star Wars? They always and or and or never finish and or this. You know what? This will get you there.
Speaker 7:
[03:51] OK, everybody, we're talking about the expanse of Osiris Reborn. But before then, I'll remind you that this is the Kinda Funny Gamescast. Each and every weekday we tackle the biggest topics in video games, whether they be previews, previews are just things we need to talk about. We do it all on YouTube, Twitch, and of course, podcast services around the globe. Of course, if you're watching live right now and have questions about the expanse of Osiris Reborn's demo slash beta, go ahead and put them in the super chats. youtube.com/kindafunnygames. You could super chat to be part of the show, just like Lord Fushis, as he has joined as a subscriber. Thank you. Thank you so much. Of course. Thank you to everyone who makes this show possible on patreon.com/kindafunny, especially our Patreon producers, Carl Jacobs and Omega Buster and Delaney, the song twining. For now, let's begin the show with what is and forever will be topic of the show. Like I said, this is We Played, The Expanse, Osiris Reborn. This is a game that has had our attention for quite some time, Michael.
Speaker 8:
[04:58] It has been high on my list of anticipated games here, Greg. It's an interesting journey for me because I really fell in love with The Expanse television show. Got to share that with a friend, Washi. Me and him watched it almost weekly, went through that whole television show with him and fell in love with the world, fell in love with the characters. Of course, it is a big time novel that maybe many of you have series and you've gotten into. I have not gone that far into reading the books or even putting it on the audio side of things for an audio book. But I watched all through the show, then they're like, Hey, guess what? We're giving you a Mass Effect like Expanse video game. We did have a telltale one not too long ago. If you remember that, but I was in love with though. Yeah. I think that was following drummer, which is one of our favorite characters in the world. Great Belter. You're going to love her. But I was very, very excited about the idea of a Mass Effect style game to the point where now I'm kind of lost, right? Greg is like, I haven't done much research into this game past the announcements. That's why I was kind of let down during that Xbox partner program or partner showcase because I wanted them to go really deep into this. Yeah, it's like, hey, Mike, they've already done a bunch of dev blogs. You should be over there. And so I'm going to now, after my experience with this, we'll talk about I'll probably learn a lot about this game very, very soon.
Speaker 7:
[06:14] I like that a lot. Of course, if you need to learn something about the game as we then get into more of the expansive, expansive universe, we're talking about the Expanse Osiris Reborn, the developer, Owlcat Studios, the steam description reads, the Expanse Osiris Reborn is a third person action RPG set in the Expanse universe. You're no hero, just a merc caught in the wrong place at the wrong time, trying to hold your crew together and keep the ship up and running. Your choices will shape the story. It has had our attention for quite some time because of course, it is trying to be a double a mass effect is how we keep describing it. Let's make some choices. Let's have some characters. Get in there with cover based shooting and have some fun. Release date up in the air. I haven't, they've never said, I don't think they confirmed 2027, but it seems like that's where we'd be going with this one. As today, of course, the beta is out. What is interesting about this beta, if you haven't been following, to access the beta, you need to be a founder and either own the Miller pack or Miller's pack, which is the $80 version of the game, or the Collector's Edition version of the game, which is $290. Wow, it comes with a bunch of stuff. We can get into that too and yada, yada, yada. I'm not saying that you're gonna throw a baby out of the bathwater here. All right, we're not throwing the baby out of the bathwater. They're doing stuff. It's not just the game.
Speaker 8:
[07:34] You get your name in the credits.
Speaker 7:
[07:35] Exactly. The beta for The Expanse of Osiris Reborn is now available on Steam, Xbox, and of course, PlayStation. We had early access to it, so we're able to jump into this one and see if it lived up to the hype. Andy, I want to start with you.
Speaker 8:
[07:50] Yeah.
Speaker 7:
[07:52] My experience with The Expanse is next to no. We were challenged when Tim and I were talking about wanting. We watched the trailer for this one. Everybody's heads got turned by it live on a games daily. We're like, damn, this does look grand. Chat was like, you got to read the books. Tim bought him and me Leviathan wakes. Tim only read, I forget if it was one page or one chapter, and I read a little bit more than him. I really liked what I read, but I just haven't been able to make time for it. This is before I became an audiobook file. So Leviathan wakes is up next after my first Bob of all, which I have about four hours left. So I will be getting there. I liked what I read and I like the setting. But for you, Andy, just a Mass Effect kid jumping into this. What was your read on this beta?
Speaker 3:
[08:36] Yes. So I mean, it's been for the past year or so, it's been this and Exodus. Matthew McConaughey's game that he's kind of helped be produced over there in Austin, Texas. Former Bioware devs. And those are both like the, these are going to be two games for people who love Mass Effect. These are going to be two third person shooters with cover shooting and abilities. And, you know, in one of them.
Speaker 7:
[09:01] Companions.
Speaker 3:
[09:03] Companions. One of them, Exodus being a bit more fantastical, being a bit more like you're the chosen star child, kind of, you know, more starfield vibes, I would say. Expanse has always been very hard sci-fi. Expanse has always been, let's try to be as realistic with this world as possible. Again, I did watch season one and I enjoyed it. I thought it was, I thought it was neat. I just never got back to it because I just rarely can get back to TV shows. Of course, never video games pull me away. So hopping into this, I would say for, for anybody who is looking forward to this game, I would say keep your expectations in check. This is one of those type of video games where we're in a different time, we're in a different era, where, where games and teams are making things at, with at different volumes and this isn't a, a big Bioware studio video game. This is something that you should manage your expectations and do, and not expect the next Mass Effect game. I would say expect something that is somewhat of a, you know, it's a facsimile of Mass Effect. It has the combat that you enjoy with neat sort of interactions, similar to whenever you're, you know, your, your shepherd and your crew, and maybe there's an explodable or an explodable sort of thing in the, in the distance when you're in a red barrel fight, you can have your homie hack that and it'll pop off or whatever. And there's decent interactions like that. I would, I would say I stick with Mass Effect and Mass Effect is my favorite gaming trilogy of all time because of the dialogue and the characters of the writing in the story.
Speaker 7:
[10:40] Sure.
Speaker 3:
[10:41] So far, not awesome here, not bad by any measure, but like nothing that made me say, oh shit, the gameplay is fine. And it's, you know, I would say it's commendable.
Speaker 7:
[10:54] Okay.
Speaker 3:
[10:54] The gameplay is like, okay for me. But I go to Mass Effect for those stories for those characters and those relationships.
Speaker 7:
[11:00] Yeah.
Speaker 3:
[11:00] So far, this game is not quite there yet. And I don't know if it'll ever reach those highs. But I also understand that we are, we're fighting ghosts nowadays. We are fighting the ghosts of so many of these legendary video games that means so much to us. And will anything ever reach those highs? Maybe not. Maybe that's okay. And we have to be okay with the game being like a 7 out of 10, you know.
Speaker 7:
[11:26] I want my, you've copious notes, which I love and you're our Expanse guy. So just from a more glancing blow here, right? Of me jumping into this game. I never want to be reductive, nor do I ever want to say we called it blah, blah, like I finished this demo and I was like, it's exactly what we've said every time we've reacted to it. It looks like a double a mass effect. I think that comes with gameplay being a bit more stiff than you'd expect from a polished triple A by where gajillions of dollars went into this. Vio, not the best, you know, the world or anything like that. But I finished this going, this is a game I still want to play. This is a game I'm still watching. I enjoyed my time enough with this and we talk about that hack and mini game in a second. Let's go. But even the little stuff of like, again, I have not even scratched the surface. I've just bounced off a book, right? But from the jump of when it popped up and it's like, what character class do you want to be? Right? It was like, do you want to be a Belter hacker or human hacker? And I was like, Oh, Belter hacker. And then I'm playing the game and I'm like, why am I so much? Oh, right. The Belters are taller than the humans because a Belter has never been to Earth. So they grow like, Oh, that's cool. That kind of detail in this game. And it looks like I'm talking to Nick, but he's really a normal size human.
Speaker 8:
[12:32] I love that.
Speaker 7:
[12:33] Mike, lay it on me.
Speaker 8:
[12:35] Yeah, Greg, I think you and Andy have really nailed it, right? I think I'm totally with Andy of like, it's wearing double A on its sleeve, right? Like we got to remember that when you're coming into this.
Speaker 3:
[12:44] But and it's $50 when it does come out.
Speaker 8:
[12:47] Some highlights I really want to give to it is like, I think they're nailing the Expanse universe when it does come to the dialogue we'll talk about. But I want to talk about like, I guess the writing, right? The world that you're in, the look, the visuals are nailing the Expanse of what I would want to see in a video game. The characters, the writing, right? The story that we saw, mind you, this is a 30 minute to maybe a maxed out hour long demo that you are going to experience in this beta. So like it's very short, but like everything that I experienced when it comes to story, writing, dialogue, the characters, the look of the world, it's like, oh, this is what I want from an expanded video game. This is my highlight, right? On the flip side, yeah, it's very double A. The characters move stiff, the guns don't have the punch like I'd want them to, right? The dialogue does feel like a wonky, clearly we've never recorded it in the same booth. And I go, hello Andy, great to see you. That is right, good job, continue the mission, right? That's what's gonna come with this. But like the highlights of it is like, I think if you are interested in the, are interested in the Expanse world, if you are a diehard Expanse fan, I think you're gonna start to see something here where you go, oh wow, like I think they're nailing some of these moments here that like would make an Expanse fan get up and get excited.
Speaker 7:
[14:04] I do want to clarify too, I'm digging through the most recent press release that just dropped this morning while I was on Games Daily, Spring 2027 is what they're targeting right now. And yeah, you're right there, Mike, where I think when I jumped in and of course we're jumping into the middle of stories already be gone. Doesn't seem like we're that deep into it, right? There's been a scuffle, our ship got destroyed, we stole this ship, we're here, we had to kill a bunch of people to do it or whatever. The interactions are stiff, but it's also doing the thing that I wanted of my RPGs, which is like, how do you want to handle the situation? Are you going to be an asshole? You're going to be cool, you're going to do this, so you're going to ask more questions, you're going to follow up on this. And then the way that paid off throughout the mission of the backbone of this being, okay, one mission, that's always weird, especially one mission that is a paid beta, which I think it's more of a demo than a beta, but I understand they're calling it a beta to their credit at Owcat, because their idea is that they want to take so much feedback from this and apply it to the overall game. Anyways, the narrative backbone of going to this and then having basically one of the people who from the other group slash army that you killed show up on your ship to try to get you, your friends, the people you just meet are nice to you, are they gonna hide you, are they gonna help you? I was like, oh, I like that a lot. And I think it's a really great setup of us escaping this woman who you see in the trailer running around in like the purple armor, escaping her and then her being on our heels. I'm like, damn, that's a great setup for where we're putting these characters as we push off.
Speaker 3:
[15:21] Now, Mike, you played multiple times, right?
Speaker 8:
[15:24] Yeah, I went into it, Andy, because I played it the first time and I was like, okay, it's kind of what you expect, right? And I think my worry in a lot of these games, when we talk about narrative choices matter, your decisions matter, I always go, yeah, but we're always gonna end up at the same spot, right? It's never that different. And so I sat there late last night and I go, you know what, let's play it one more time. I'm gonna do everything different than what I did, because I just want to see how different it plays out, because I'm expecting it's gonna go from point A to point B no matter what, and in between is different. And you know what, I was pleasantly surprised with how this played out, right? I chose one path the first time that led to maybe you teaming up with the entire base and them calling the arms. And it is mayhem inside the base the whole time. There's dead bodies everywhere. People are fighting alongside you. I thought, oh, OK, that's cool. And so when I went back to it last night, I was like, well, let's see what it is if I say, hey, let me sneak out. Don't tell anyone. Let's see what happens. And I was surprised at like, oh, everything is calm. There is nobody else shooting. Everybody is like gone into their shelters. And it is very much just me alone.
Speaker 3:
[16:28] Become a stealth mission.
Speaker 8:
[16:29] I wouldn't say it's stealth. You're still going to have your engagements searching for you. But it was very much like, hey, those NPCs over there that were dead on the floor, they're not there. Those NPCs that were now shooting at the enemy, they're not shooting at them. They're like kind of like doing their job. Like, hey, what are you doing here? And then at the end, there was a little bit of a difference there. Still very much, hey, we're going this direction, but maybe a couple characters lived, died, talked to somebody differently. I was impressed that I was like, oh, I left that, and it is different.
Speaker 3:
[16:57] Did you try out both classes for each of these runs?
Speaker 7:
[17:00] Did the hacker feel different? Because what was the other one called?
Speaker 3:
[17:02] Assault.
Speaker 8:
[17:03] Yeah. Very Mass Effect as you brought up of like, hey, here's a third person, kind of cover based experience that you're going to have with three fun little different archetypes or what is it, moves.
Speaker 3:
[17:17] Oh, okay. Your abilities or whatever.
Speaker 8:
[17:18] So like the hacker on number one on my one key would throw out a taser, right? Now, it tase you, you'd be stuck there in a stun. I'd be able to shoot you. On the flip side, the other guy had a grenade, right? And so it was cool going back and forth. I think the hacker had some really cool stuff. I don't know how to describe it, but it sent out like a beast swarm of like this cool, like nanite technology.
Speaker 7:
[17:38] Yeah, you didn't do this one. No, I didn't. So you're two or you're three because it's both shoulder buttons and then you know them together. But from the audience, right? As Mike's saying, yeah, you stun somebody that you can get easy shots. And the other one, yes, you're sending out this like nanite swarm that goes over and eats up whoever is in front of you or over there.
Speaker 8:
[17:52] Super cool.
Speaker 3:
[17:53] And you're also controlling your squad mate, who is your twin sister.
Speaker 8:
[17:59] Yeah, twin sister or brother. It was interesting when I did the humans, they were guys. And then we had the ladies. And I thought it was very interesting. The different dialogue that was going on. The Belters, very chatty. The humans weren't as chatty. I was actually really, I was like, man, the Belters are very much like, what's up?
Speaker 7:
[18:18] We're doing this thing.
Speaker 8:
[18:19] A lot of the same. I think we'll hear that a lot throughout the slicker than a slingshot.
Speaker 7:
[18:23] I was like, shut up, stop saying that.
Speaker 8:
[18:25] I couldn't write it down, but I wrote it down like chatter. Hey, you're saying that way too many times. Like that would be my feedback. It's like, we got to get some more voice lines in here. Tone that down. But when you go to the humans, they are much more quieter. You do not have a line to pick out like they did. Where it's like, you got to stop saying this. Yeah. A lot of character. It was very interesting.
Speaker 7:
[18:42] From their official description, just so you're on the same page, everybody in the final game, you can pick. But in the closed beta founders can either choose to play as either a female character from the belt or a male male character from the earth, also choosing between a specialization of a hacker of officer or hacker abilities, accompanied by their open-hearted sibling, Jay, and supported by a veteran mechanic, Zafar. Players will explore a remote space station belonging to their employer, Pinkwater Security, in the wake of escaping from a catastrophic event on Eros famously known in the books and TV series.
Speaker 8:
[19:11] I mean, they have a fun call out when you walk on. Maybe there's a character from the TV show and the series, of course, the books that you recognize immediately. You'll hear it and go, oh snap. And then I was trying to piece together. Well, where am I? Like I said, I haven't done much deep diving into like, tell me everything. Cause I kinda am excited for this, but I'll go learn more. But the moment I hear Holden's name, I go, okay, stop everything. What's the main guy doing? They have a news report about him.
Speaker 7:
[19:36] I watched the news report, but that was all nonsense.
Speaker 8:
[19:39] Now I'm doing the thing of like, well, he was doing this. So where does that put me? I don't really know. I'm excited to learn a lot more about that.
Speaker 3:
[19:46] I really dug the combat in space.
Speaker 7:
[19:50] Dude, right? Where I was like, this is OK. It's stiff Gears of War. It's Mass Effect cover based. But I was like, it's stiff. Like what I probably remember Mass Effect 1, Mass Effect 2 being stiff. But then, yeah, you get out into this thing with magnetic boots where you're on the side of the space station crawling around and you're going up and shooting around. Go ahead, Andy.
Speaker 3:
[20:08] Yeah. So, you know, when you're out there, because you're escaping this ship, so you have to kind of just get outside of the ship and you're in your space suits. And like Greg mentioned, you got these magnetic boots that will stick on the actual surface of the ship. But the surface of the ship is a lot of different angles, right? But because of the gravity, you're sort of sticking on the ship like normal. And so you're kind of walking around at all these sort of weird different angles, looking at it kind of reminds you of like some of the fight scenes in Inception, when you're on the wall shooting at people.
Speaker 7:
[20:39] It reminds me of Zero G Dead Space.
Speaker 3:
[20:41] Oh, right, right, right. And so yeah, there are really cool moments where you are dealing with just odd ass angles in some of these fights that are really neat and playing around with a lot of these sort of environmental destruction things that really pop off. And like physics and particles and shit, like I'm sure it may chug on lower powered machines because even at some moments I'm be like, damn, that's a lot of like flying stuff you're throwing out there because I exploded that one canister or I had my sister hack this one thing. But it was pretty neat. And we'll see how they can iterate on that and how they could make that thrill sort of last. But I thought it was really fun.
Speaker 7:
[21:21] I agree. That was a turning point for me where I was like, okay, cool. And then I got out there with, oh, these guys, Owlcats got it. You know what I mean in terms of like, yeah, this is in a 10 out of 10 from what we just played, a 9 out of 10. But I'm down for a 7, a 7.5 with choices in story. And I don't mind the voice acting not being Laura Bailey every five seconds, but it being this, I enjoyed what I played and when we got out, and especially the destruction, where I was like, oh, I'm going to plant and blind. Oh, fuck, this is breaking up. I'm taking damage. I have to run off. I have to find, when it flushed me out and made me actually have to deal with it, I was like, oh, that's cool. Let alone then, I guess in the one where I had everybody working with me in the assaults, when I had the guy on the outside firing in with his main cannons, I only know the demo from one way. And like calling that out is another companion ability in a way, very contained on what you could do with it. But I was like, oh, this is cool. And it's shaking up the, all right, stop, pop and shoot, pop and shoot.
Speaker 8:
[22:14] Yeah, I think they nailed the set pieces. I think we all can imagine the cool sci-fi set pieces like we brought up with Mass Effect before that, like could be, but when I think of the Expanse universe in particular as well, right? When I bring it back to that, it's like, oh, while you're nailing it, right? We're out there space walking on the side of this spaceship. And it does feel like I'm arching over and getting a new viewpoint, or I can't see the other side. Beyond it, right? And it's like that was really exciting and well done. I was like, man, good job. And as Greg brought up right there was a really cool moment at the end. That was really fun of like calling in a second partner to come in and give off. Like ballista fire was really cool as well. But yeah, I think they're setting themselves up where I'm looking at this going. Yeah, it's double A on its sleeve, right? Like characters are stiff. There's some certain things here. I think there's going to be a lot of repolish in this before this game comes out. That I'm excited to see like how you touch it up and fix it. But at its core, we got something going on here, which is exciting.
Speaker 7:
[23:10] Yeah.
Speaker 8:
[23:10] But also, you know what you're going to get. Definitely know what you're getting into.
Speaker 7:
[23:14] I want to give you a little bit more here. I threw out the closed beta players can interact with the station's inhabitants experiment with dialog options and choices and discover how everyday life on a space station full of mercenaries works. Once the masterminds behind the attack on arrows catch up with them, they'll be thrown into combat and experience the game's upgrade mechanics first hand. In the final game, players will also be able to choose Mars as their main character's background alongside the belt and earth with more specializations and customizations available than in the beta, of course. But I think worth calling out there.
Speaker 8:
[23:44] I liked it. Did you guys dive into your skill tree at all? I know you unlocked one skill.
Speaker 7:
[23:48] I was going to say when I only got one point, I was like, I wish you could have given me more here to play with.
Speaker 8:
[23:52] Each one had its own skill tree, very similar to every skill tree you've seen before, right? You open it up, it has five lines on this side that are going to be like skill abilities and different things that you can do. There's two that are more, hey, this is your character class. This is the belter side of things. But I dove in there. It's like, hey, your shields can be 15% or hey, your assault rifles can be stronger or your cooldown for abilities can be 50% less if you're holding a pistol. So I started playing around with that looking forward to diving in a little bit deeper into the skill tree. See what I like on that.
Speaker 7:
[24:23] Yeah, that's the, you know, I get the downside slash upside. Yeah, is that this one left me hungry for more.
Speaker 8:
[24:30] Okay.
Speaker 7:
[24:30] And I want to be very clear when I'm talking about it being a double R a double A RPG, right? I think I also threw that around when I was talking about Bloodlines, but Bloodlines, the vampire game or a basketball that I played earlier late last year, early this year. In my conversation there was like, Oh, it felt like such a PS three RPG. You know what I mean? This feels like a double A modern RPG. This isn't what I got from Bloodlines where it was like, this is a quirky and weird. This was just like, cool. It doesn't have billions of dollar polish on it. But as I keep going back to, I don't need that. There's something inherently exciting about this game of a new space world to go explore, a new narrative going off on a new skill tree. Like you're saying, I was bummed out. I only got one skill point because I was looking through and I was like, damn, there is cool shit I'd love to experiment on here. But of course, what am I going to do in 30 minutes?
Speaker 3:
[25:20] Yeah, if you look on the website, there are four, five, hold on, hold on. I'm looking at the amount of companions that you can have in the game. One, two, three, four, five, six companions. And all of different backgrounds or whatever. Some are Earthers, some are Belters, some are Lunars, some are Martians or whatever. All I'm asking for in this adventure, however long it is, I hope that this is a brisk, you know, 15 hours.
Speaker 7:
[25:53] Main campaign?
Speaker 3:
[25:54] Yeah, main campaign. I would just surprise me. I want surprising moments with NPCs. I want to, I love getting stabbed in the back by a character. I love just like that feeling of betrayal. Yeah, that is true. Like you son of a bitch, I can't believe you did that to me. Like I just want to be surprised by this story and the narrative.
Speaker 8:
[26:15] Let me tell you about the show right now. And Greg will tell you about the book in about seven months.
Speaker 3:
[26:18] Okay.
Speaker 8:
[26:20] The Expanse has that. Yeah. Like for real, like when I say I think they're capturing the world and the essence of this. Like the Expanse, when I think of the television show, has everything that you're talking about, right? Like we're talking about a galaxy, all these different people coming together in this melting pot of like what could be. And when I played this, when they had the ship being named after your code name, a stealing ship and it looking good, right? It was like, Oh, you're, I think they have a really good opportunity where this is going to shine. Is that narrative in the story? And like, I'm hoping there's going to be a lot of that. Cause the actual Expanse has all of that, that you want.
Speaker 3:
[26:56] The character art is fantastic. I thought like I, it doesn't quite hit that level where whenever I get worried about smaller teams with smaller budgets, trying to reach for these triple and quadruple A visuals, I think that's always kind of been a problem where a small team, you show a still of a character and it's like, oh, that looks amazing. I can't wait to see this in action. And then you do and you go, ooh, nothing else quite. There's a disconnection here cause this character looks so high quality and he's moving like, it's clear that your animation team isn't quite up to the character art team. But I thought the characters looked awesome here and I really enjoyed like the visual and the fidelity of all of it.
Speaker 7:
[27:39] It's a normal one too. I think what you're talking about, I think I understand. I want to like this game. Yeah, I like small teams and I know they're actually kind of big, but you know what I mean? I like somebody coming off the bench in a way we don't expect and having an IP that we know will matter to people, right? But even their website, as you click around, like I find something inherently exciting about it. Now, granted, how much of that's marketing. But to your point, Andy, of how like good the fucking, just the goddamn key art looks. You know what I mean? Where it's like, I want to know those guys. That looks like a diverse cast of people who are going to be doing shit in these games.
Speaker 8:
[28:11] Very Expanse vibes when you look at that. Yeah, sure. It's a fun IP. And I'm very interested to see the initial demo response of this, right? Like when we bring it back to what people are about to play starting right now. Again, this is a 30 minute to maybe an hour experience, depending on how much you are searching every nook and cranny, right? Like what is the thoughts going to be coming out of this? Because it is very double A on the gameplay. But when I think of people who like like the Expanse or want to get lost in this IP, that's where I think it's going to shine for people of like, hey, I can see this and I'm hoping this is going to be great because they have that. I think people will come out going man. Look at this guy. So stiff right here. Like it doesn't feel good. You know, it's going to be an interesting vibe for the next week of the feedback. They will receive what we hear from the general public.
Speaker 7:
[29:00] Yeah, I'm on the disco right now trying to sort through and see what people are going on here. It seems like so far, the people, the founders here are happy in talking about that. So that's good.
Speaker 8:
[29:09] Yeah, that's great.
Speaker 7:
[29:09] And again, what you're expecting when you get into it. Of course, when we were talking at the beginning of the show, someone in multiple people actually chat. We're talking about people sleeping in all cat games, you know, going through their last three releases here, right? You're talking about Warhammer 40k Rogue Trader on the base game on Seam. It's a 78 on Metacritic, then the latest DLC 86. So they definitely doubled down on what people wanted for that. Before then, it was Pathfinder Wrath of Righteousness.
Speaker 3:
[29:34] That's the CRPG, Mike. A lot of people really like Baldur's Gaty vibes, you know, in Warhammer.
Speaker 8:
[29:42] Yeah.
Speaker 7:
[29:43] Oh, in Warhammer. Yeah. Yeah. So I think, you know, again, the studio that's got something going on and I really I'm hoping for the best for them on this because I liked what I played and I'm obviously craving another Mass Effect as I think so many of us are.
Speaker 8:
[29:56] Yeah, I'm excited to learn a lot more because yeah, I go back to all the characters that you know, and love from the books and the show for me. It's like, are they in here? Where's the timeline? I'm going to do a lot of like watching videos now.
Speaker 7:
[30:07] Okay, you're going to do the deep dive.
Speaker 8:
[30:08] I can't wait.
Speaker 7:
[30:10] I can give you some if you know your history.
Speaker 8:
[30:11] Yeah, hit me.
Speaker 7:
[30:12] Let me do that. After I tell you a word from our sponsors. Remember, of course, we couldn't do this without your support. patreon.com/kindafunnyyoutube.com/kindafunny Games, Apple, Spotify. You can toss us $10. We'll toss you everything we do each and every week for a month ad free. That's more than 80 episodes a month. And of course, you get your daily dose of me, Greg Miller, in a one man podcast series called Greg Way. And you'd get good karma for supporting an 11 person, 11 year old small business live in the dream. But right now, you're not using your benefits. So here's a word from our sponsors.
Speaker 6:
[30:42] This episode is brought to you by Warby Parker. Buying eyeglasses was always a hold to do before Warby Parker came into so many of our lives. Greg, Gia, Joey, me, all of us hated how buying glasses always felt so complicated and overpriced. And often the styles were just super outdated. But Warby Parker total game changer. Nothing comes close on quality, price, selection and customer service. You can literally try on glasses from your phone before you buy it with their virtual try on. Greg says it's wild how well it actually works. And a super cool thing is Warby Parker is covered by major eye insurance plans. That's how Gia got hers. They make it incredibly easy to use. You just enter your information to see if you are eligible for benefits on frames, contacts or eye exams. And if you are, they automatically apply them for you. Right now, buy one prescription pair and get 20% off any additional prescription pairs at warbyparker.com/kindafunny. That's 20% off additional prescription pairs when you go to warbyparker.com/kindafunny.
Speaker 7:
[31:52] In the chat, the right-hulled doldo says, I know this isn't live, but please tell Greg I'm enjoying a breakfast beer. What made you think this wasn't live?
Speaker 8:
[32:00] Is that Matthew Hidalgo?
Speaker 7:
[32:01] That's the right-hulled doldo.
Speaker 8:
[32:02] Yeah, Matthew Hidalgo is what I thought.
Speaker 7:
[32:04] While we were in ad break, Mike told us a difference in the gameplay he did there. And that's the kind of shit I'm talking about. Of what I want out of these open world RPGs. I want it like you're talking about, Andy. Let's get 15, 20 hours of it. But it's 15, 20 hours for one playthrough on one choice. Where I go through and now this person who was dead or that thing over there and this over there. We can experiment with it and see those different permutations rather than it be just red or blue or green. If you will.
Speaker 3:
[32:31] Impress me.
Speaker 7:
[32:32] Impress me. Surprise me.
Speaker 3:
[32:34] Yeah, surprise me. Surprise and delight me.
Speaker 7:
[32:35] Michael, a little bit for you here. Okay. The Expanse of Osiris Reborn is a third-person sci-fi action RPG set in the universe of The Expanse. By the 24th century, humanity has conquered the cosmos, but that hasn't made life any easier. What begins as a brief sojourn on an asteroid, Eros reductantly entangles you in a solar system-wide thing. Barrett, I sent to Assets the timeline for all the books, all the TV shows, all the comics, and all the games.
Speaker 3:
[33:01] God dang.
Speaker 7:
[33:02] So as you can see, I need to open this up. Zoom in.
Speaker 3:
[33:06] That's a lifetime of books.
Speaker 7:
[33:08] Right? I don't know, man. I don't know. Can you imagine if that was just, you had that much time? You could just go do that. So you're talking, Osiris Reborn is happening a little before Season 1 of the show and a little bit into Season 3, apparently. Oh. So that's right there with what you want.
Speaker 8:
[33:23] We might get some names then.
Speaker 7:
[33:24] Oh, dude, they did comics, too?
Speaker 3:
[33:25] You know, books and novellas. What's the difference?
Speaker 7:
[33:29] Novellas are shorter stories. It's what Kevin was doing with this series. So Kevin was waiting on the library to give him Book 5. And so he started doing the novellas, which are like small little interstitials. So we call novellas, and then I bought him the book 5.
Speaker 3:
[33:42] We call novellas like when your grandma says, my shows.
Speaker 7:
[33:45] Yeah, yeah, like soap operas.
Speaker 3:
[33:46] Yeah, yeah, yeah. Soap operas, yeah. That's a novella, yeah.
Speaker 7:
[33:50] This is a cool universe I want to get into.
Speaker 8:
[33:51] This is a big universe right there. Yeah, I'm excited for you. If you commit to the book and read it through, what your thoughts are. I know, like I said, my friend Washburn is all in on this.
Speaker 7:
[34:01] Where do I get the show?
Speaker 8:
[34:03] Amazon Prime.
Speaker 7:
[34:03] Amazon Prime?
Speaker 8:
[34:04] And they got a nice little boost, because I believe it went sci-fi to Prime. So you saw a little bit of extra money in one of the seasons where they were like, hey, we got you. And I think they lost a little money at the end, but they still got some money. Yeah, they still got some money.
Speaker 3:
[34:17] That was one of the, yeah, it was one of those sci-fi shows, but it was like anybody who liked it would go, yeah, but like, it's not like the other sci-fi shows. This is when you actually like sci-fi, you know, I would say doesn't always put out like, wasn't always putting out must watches, but everybody who loved The Expanse is like, no, but this is like actually super, super good. And then I guess, I don't know what happened with the licensing fee or rights or whatever. I don't know if it got canceled. I have no idea what happened with sci-fi, but then Amazon Prime said, we want that and then injected more money into it. And then, you know, you saw the budget go higher.
Speaker 7:
[34:55] See, I don't, I didn't recognize James Holden's name, but I recognize Ice Fighter, Ice Freighter came from yesterday's conversation. I mean, I'm an Expanse boy, everybody.
Speaker 3:
[35:05] I just high-fived.
Speaker 8:
[35:06] So, yeah, here.
Speaker 7:
[35:07] Thank you for telling the audio list.
Speaker 8:
[35:09] It's interesting to come out of this, because, yeah, I was looking forward to hearing both of you guys' feedback and thoughts on this, because I was a mixed bag. And I think I came out more positive than I thought I would, because I was a little worried of, like, who would feel double A. But then, like, the world and the IP and what they were writing and the story, I was like, I think I'm in.
Speaker 3:
[35:27] Yeah.
Speaker 8:
[35:27] I'm into this.
Speaker 3:
[35:29] Man, they're a lot taller than you. Your characters are a lot taller than this dude.
Speaker 7:
[35:32] The Belters, yeah. Well, again, remember, they're no greater, lesser gravity.
Speaker 3:
[35:36] But you got to assume that, like, their base height was probably going to be, like, 5'11, if they grew up on Earth, because they got to be, like, 6'8.
Speaker 7:
[35:45] And it's your husband, Greg. I'm live on The Kinda Funny Gamescast. It's my birthday weekend, and I would like to watch The Expanse. And I, so, when I put it on, I don't need any of the yak-yaks. Right? You gotta try it! It's supposed to be good. It's sci-fi. Somebody in the chat said the show. What do we, you know?
Speaker 8:
[36:01] We gotta try it.
Speaker 7:
[36:02] It's space, Jen. It's space. It could be our new thing. It could be The Sopranos, except we finish it. Alright, I love you. I'll see you at home. Bye. Dude.
Speaker 3:
[36:09] You didn't finish The Sopranos?
Speaker 7:
[36:10] No. How many episodes? Come on. Fucking Tony just killed somebody already. What are we doing?
Speaker 3:
[36:16] Yeah. You're just there for the murder.
Speaker 7:
[36:19] Well, something. Just something. You know what I mean? Let's go this way. With Walter White, he's got antagonists. People are getting... Sopranos is just, I'm watching this guy's daily life. And sometimes it's interesting and sometimes he's just fucking... Yeah, bitch... .revisiting his daughter in college. I'm like, all right, you know, kind of lost my momentum on it.
Speaker 3:
[36:46] I don't know what's going on with these Elden Ring links, but I'm excited to talk about it on Gamescast tomorrow. A lot of Elden Ring movie leaks, and it's like half of them gotta be AI.
Speaker 8:
[36:53] Have you seen this?
Speaker 7:
[36:55] No, I got lost over.
Speaker 8:
[36:56] The guy in a suit of armor, they're throwing cabbage at him.
Speaker 7:
[36:58] I saw somebody, maybe the IGN article was like, oh man, like, leaks are out and they're major spoilers.
Speaker 3:
[37:07] It's, there's no, I mean, I legitimately feel like 80% of these videos are just AI.
Speaker 8:
[37:12] Oh, really?
Speaker 3:
[37:13] Yeah, just AI, movie set, whatever, you know. What's up?
Speaker 7:
[37:19] Said an AI capable of that. Oh, my God. So The Expanse ran a long time, too.
Speaker 8:
[37:29] Up to 2022, right?
Speaker 7:
[37:31] I mean, six seasons.
Speaker 8:
[37:32] Yeah, six seasons.
Speaker 7:
[37:33] Twenty, twenty fifteen to twenty twenty one. I guess they're probably breaking there when they got canceled. No, there was no break. That's just. Oh, they ended it.
Speaker 8:
[37:39] Wrapped it up.
Speaker 3:
[37:40] Can you bring up the link that I sent to assets Barrett? This is from IGN's 35 Minutes of Beta Gameplay. They essentially like kind of posted what the beta is. So again, super high quality character art.
Speaker 7:
[37:54] Yeah.
Speaker 3:
[37:55] And then you'll see the.
Speaker 7:
[37:57] That's the Nick I was talking about.
Speaker 3:
[37:58] See, he reminds you of Chris Evans. He looks like Chris Evans like a dyed beard to me.
Speaker 7:
[38:01] But he's so small.
Speaker 3:
[38:02] So small.
Speaker 7:
[38:02] This is what we're talking about. Belters are tall.
Speaker 3:
[38:04] Belters. Yeah. But like again, I'm talking to Mike and I'm like, if they grew up on Earth, these women probably would have been like 6162 WNBA.
Speaker 7:
[38:13] They were already tall.
Speaker 3:
[38:15] It's not that much of a difference, you know?
Speaker 7:
[38:18] It does look like Nick and his wife.
Speaker 3:
[38:20] Oh, yeah. Good hairline on this fellow, though.
Speaker 7:
[38:23] That's why it doesn't look like Nick.
Speaker 3:
[38:26] And this guy looks like that one dude from Smosh.
Speaker 7:
[38:29] Yes.
Speaker 3:
[38:31] You don't have time, but one of the founders.
Speaker 7:
[38:33] Yeah, no, LaserCorn. Yeah, that's so hung up on LaserBeam. I'm like, it's not landing. It's not landing. It's not landing.
Speaker 3:
[38:39] Now, I still am kind of worried about the whole AI of it all. The gen AI of it all.
Speaker 7:
[38:44] Yes. Bring me up that I missed that. But we saw Super Chat come through. There's money to get to. Sorry. EJRPG says without cat already saying they're using gen AI for art assets until the final product, does that factor into your opinion of the beta slash demo? I would say not so much about the beta demo. Overall, that sucks. And let me look into the crystal ball. Is all cat going to fuck it up and leave an AI asset in there and have a whole fucking problem to do an apology? Yes, they will. Oh my God. Shocking.
Speaker 3:
[39:14] Yeah.
Speaker 7:
[39:15] Really? The article.
Speaker 8:
[39:16] I mean, these are past that T. This is one of the this is one of the companies that have come out and said, Hey, we're using this right. Like we've seen this before. People either not talking about it, then getting caught for it. Some people have said, hey, we're doing this. We've pulled it back. Some people like our cat have come out and said, Hey, we're using this as a tool. Right. And so good or bad, we'll see at the finish line what that looks like. But it is interesting of like, Hey, this is a group coming out saying that they're using this.
Speaker 7:
[39:41] This is Diego at gamedeveloper.com. All cat games is using generative AI to iterate faster on the expanse. I'll cat games. The studio behind multiple pathfinder and Warhammer 40 K titles has confirmed is using generative AI, Gen AI to help build its RPG. The expanse of Cyrus reborn during a press briefing, I'll cat PR manager, Katharina pop told Eurogamer. The team is using the tech for quote, a lot of prototyping, trying things out placeholders. They also stress that those placeholders will all be replaced before the title ships. Have you heard this before everybody? What we basically, we use it basically for trying out things on a technical level pop added, for example, looking how a 2D image looks in 3D or changing colors to what looks good. So it's basically for being able to iterate faster, but we don't use it to write, we don't use AI voice actors. So everything that will be in the final version will definitely 100 percent be human made. The company hasn't been coy about using GenAI. In 2024, they posted a job listening for an artist to be tasked with generating concepts and using AI from modern tools. Shortly after, an artist shared the job listing on social media and called out the mention of AI prompting a response from Allcat, quote, We use AI as a working tool for our future project, which is in the early stages of production right now. AI will be used exclusively for additional work with concepts and speeding up some internal processes. For example, for creative search, inspiration or vision coordination before starting conceptualization itself. The final version of the game will not have any art generated by the neural networks. The same goes for the final concepts. Everything will be original and drawn by professional artists.
Speaker 3:
[41:22] Using it for a concept thing is maybe the worst thing you could have said.
Speaker 7:
[41:28] You know, hey, we are we have this rich Barrett throw the timeline up. We have this rich universe of fucking books, novellas, and a show, and comics, and other games.
Speaker 3:
[41:42] To people that have worked in this.
Speaker 7:
[41:44] I may rather think of our own thing. We'll just say, hey, what's space look like?
Speaker 3:
[41:48] Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 7:
[41:50] What would you make an expand spaceship look like? AI blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
Speaker 3:
[41:53] Yeah, that's I mean. Bummer. I just I don't want to pay a concept artist, Andy. That's it's not a profession I respect.
Speaker 7:
[42:00] And, you know, I just want to, you know, have that done quickly. Boo, that sucks. That's all. And I hate that. That's my response. How it is or whatever it does it. I don't know. Now I'm now I'm looking forward to the release of the game for a different reason. What do they miss? What is going to happen when the fucking game comes out? And then on the subreddit that day, I'm like, look at this. Fuck. Why is this guy got all these fucking hands?
Speaker 8:
[42:26] Why is that six fingers?
Speaker 3:
[42:28] Yeah. Why does this alphabet not look like an alphabet?
Speaker 7:
[42:33] Taven says, worth noting, no individual Mass Effect game is a 10 out of 10 as a whole. The trilogy is, but each game had missteps along the way. I mean, Wolf, I don't think that trilogy is 10 out of 10, but okay. Yeah, no. I mean, I'm just trying to set realistic expectations. We're playing a demo and then giving it you the impressions of it or whatever, of where your hype, I think, and expectations for what you're getting should be. As you are all well aware, Greg Miller has fun with sevens and sixes. All the time. So it's like, I appreciate that that scale exists and we're able to get into it. Nothing. I mean, that's the biggest thing. I'm more excited for The Expanse now that I've played it. After playing, seeing it beforehand, it was very much like this looks like a double A mass effect, which could be a fun game to play or a trash fire. Yeah, this very select 30 minutes to an hour played well and felt good. Will that live up to the hype overall? Will this collapse in its own weight? You know, they say spring 2027.
Speaker 8:
[43:27] Well, we'll find out about that.
Speaker 7:
[43:28] Are we playing this in 2028, we think? You know, I'd really be interested to see where that one's gonna net out and where that goes.
Speaker 3:
[43:33] Now, yeah, I think 2027 is like most likely, but that seems safe.
Speaker 7:
[43:40] Okay. I'll take the pizza bet.
Speaker 3:
[43:42] I'm gonna, okay.
Speaker 7:
[43:43] Run it. Do you want to say spring 2027 or you just mean 2027?
Speaker 8:
[43:46] You take spring or you take all of 2027?
Speaker 7:
[43:49] Just to be clear.
Speaker 3:
[43:50] I don't think it gets... I'm in the wrong year right now. I'm in the wrong year.
Speaker 7:
[43:57] Do you think it's 2035?
Speaker 8:
[43:59] Oh, no, it's 2025.
Speaker 3:
[44:01] I was thinking 2027 was like further away. That's next year.
Speaker 8:
[44:06] That is eight months from now.
Speaker 7:
[44:08] Yeah, I was gonna say.
Speaker 8:
[44:09] And then add on another three.
Speaker 7:
[44:10] I mean, you know, people play fast and loose. By spring 2027, you'd think we'd already... A year from now, we should already know. We should have it.
Speaker 3:
[44:17] We should be... Yeah, in my mind, I'm like, there's no way it gets pushed to 28. Like, that's crazy. But you were talking about data, yeah. I'm putting into Assets a clip from... Ignore the pizza bed.
Speaker 7:
[44:28] Okay, and we never rolled it.
Speaker 3:
[44:31] We never shook a hand.
Speaker 7:
[44:32] Never shook a hand, never had the thing roll.
Speaker 3:
[44:34] The link that I put through is another iGen video. This is from their official first look gameplay for Exodus. This is the video that they put out a month ago, which is, you know, it's very odd that we've gone so long without Mass Effect and then there are two small studios trying to make their version of Mass Effect. And something about Exodus, I feel like I'm just going to enjoy it more from the experience. Yeah.
Speaker 7:
[45:00] Can I see it? I remember the reveal, but it's not loading. So it's one of those I've forgotten about since then.
Speaker 3:
[45:06] Yeah. Exodus is, but I think it it looks like it feels a bit better in gameplay, you know, in the actual action of it all, but still going for the Mass Effect cover shooter. You know, you got your little companions. Yeah, you're either you're using powers and stuff. It's yeah, it it feels like the gameplay is more vanguardy from the Mass Effect class where you had your biotics to float people and shit like that. You know, and that's that's definitely way more of my jam. I think I prefer those fantastical Star Wars force like elements of your powers. And like, you know, I'm using abilities and, you know, division kind of drones.
Speaker 7:
[45:47] Totally, totally, totally. Yeah.
Speaker 8:
[45:49] I want to be the star born.
Speaker 3:
[45:50] Yeah, exactly.
Speaker 4:
[45:51] Yeah, you do.
Speaker 3:
[45:52] I'm a star born.
Speaker 7:
[45:55] Don't for a second think I didn't go home last night. Be like, I mean, I was hungry for it. I got me going. I got a birthday stream coming up. Let's get my order.
Speaker 8:
[46:04] Man, Project Hail Mary gets you all. Oh, what a movie.
Speaker 3:
[46:07] You gotta watch that. When you watch it.
Speaker 7:
[46:08] When it's I mean, I've read the book. Oh, so I like and I can't wait for it. But it's like there have been hope. Maybe we can get a birthday date night. It didn't work out. And now they got this fucking Michael Jackson movie that apparently a piece of shit in theaters. So yeah, I'll see you when it comes to Amazon. I'll buy it right away.
Speaker 3:
[46:24] I don't know why I don't know why Mike that I act whenever somebody tells me that they read a book. Yeah, to me, I'm like, fuck, that's awesome.
Speaker 8:
[46:32] The big deal. That's a good for him to make time for that.
Speaker 7:
[46:35] Don't don't have any time for that. Now that I'm reading books, audio books in the car, I think I'm better than everybody.
Speaker 3:
[46:40] Yeah, I feel it.
Speaker 7:
[46:42] That's why I'm better than everybody.
Speaker 3:
[46:44] That's exactly why I'm reacting that way. It feels like you told me you ran a marathon, I'm like, damn, good for you.
Speaker 7:
[46:49] Honestly, it feels like I hacked the system, read a book, where when I was like, oh, it turns out, you know, I like podcasts where they tell stories. There are these other things that tell stories without ads, without any of this shit.
Speaker 6:
[46:59] I just listen to the story all the time.
Speaker 7:
[47:01] This is fucking great.
Speaker 8:
[47:02] What are you on Audible?
Speaker 7:
[47:03] Yeah, I'm doing Audible on Spotify. Whatever it is.
Speaker 3:
[47:06] That's dope.
Speaker 8:
[47:06] Again, like I have every Halo book on Audible.
Speaker 3:
[47:09] Nice.
Speaker 8:
[47:10] You know, I was tying up for the membership. They were giving me free credit. Maybe I got about a thousand free credits.
Speaker 3:
[47:15] You get like a Discord free promo code or whatever.
Speaker 7:
[47:18] Yeah, my favorite was years ago. I said like, oh yeah, well, as I can't, you know, with Amazon Prime, you get these Audible credits. And Chet was like, no, you don't. And I was like, well, I just keep getting Audible credits. Like you're for sure subscribed to Audible somewhere. And I have never changed it. So anytime I want a book, I just open up Audible. I got credits. Free book.
Speaker 8:
[47:33] Here we go.
Speaker 7:
[47:34] I don't know where I'm coming from. I'm not doing any research.
Speaker 8:
[47:36] I just get this credit. Let's go.
Speaker 7:
[47:39] I have a library built right now. I'm ready to fucking go.
Speaker 3:
[47:42] We're in 2026 right now.
Speaker 7:
[47:43] We are in 20 That's crazy, right? Stuck up on you. Can you believe you're already almost halfway through 2026? Can you believe every day in my email, someone is trying to figure out SGF? I'm constantly having to change.
Speaker 8:
[47:54] That's like a month away. So you got six months in. You got to accept that.
Speaker 3:
[47:59] That's crazy.
Speaker 7:
[48:01] Everybody, I'm excited for The Expanse. Are you excited for The Expanse? Let us know in the comments below. Oh, there was one super chat I missed here. Snow13 says, Alcatrules, Pathfinder, Wrath of the Righteous and Warhammer 40k Rogue Trader were both phenomenal. When I found out Alcatrules was doing this, I was sold instantly. Really excited for the full version. Okay. Oh, then ScienceDog official sneaks in and says, Sounds like Greg needs Rocket Money.
Speaker 8:
[48:26] I heard that and I was like, I think he needs Rocket Money.
Speaker 7:
[48:27] I mean, it's going to pop up. Amazon's got to charge. I'm like, there you go. I gave you my palm print. I don't care.
Speaker 8:
[48:32] You know what gets me? NBA League Pass. I get an e-mail out of nowhere. It's like, hey, don't forget about your league pass. I'm like, I didn't know I was signed up for League Pass though.
Speaker 3:
[48:41] NFL ticket is me as well. And that's an expensive ticket.
Speaker 8:
[48:44] We gotta get out of that.
Speaker 7:
[48:44] Same thing too, where people are always like, I saw a great comic, like a comic strip about it. I'm just like, how? We're all paying Apple money. We don't know why. Every month, Apple comes for $10. I guess it's yours. Take it. I don't know what's happened. And then finally, to close out the show, I'mJustAbility6660 says, Andy, I need your thought on the Wemby injury, please.
Speaker 3:
[49:04] You know, it could change the whole outlook of the playoffs. You know, obviously a different looking team when you don't have the unanimous defensive player of the year. You know, it's unfortunate that Drew Holliday made a very dirty play. And I mean, he just pulled the chair out from under Wemby. So it wasn't really a dirty play. But like still to me, you can't do that to him.
Speaker 8:
[49:25] Can't do it.
Speaker 3:
[49:25] He's up. Yeah, hit his head on the ground. Boom.
Speaker 8:
[49:27] Really hit his head hard on the ground. Like how to put him in the blue tent for sure. That's a blue tent.
Speaker 3:
[49:33] Let me tell you what a pulling pulling the chair out from under you is, Greg. Some legs out. No, no, no. Somebody is like backing you down in the paint, right?
Speaker 7:
[49:42] And USA Today. Why? Why are there that many ads? Sorry. Back to you, Randy.
Speaker 3:
[49:48] Defensive or offensive player, Greg. Let's say I'm backing you down the paint, right? And I'm a big guy. I'm a big boy. And I'm about to like, you see me kind of revving up to hit you with my butt on my backside. And then you are prepping for it. But then you let me do it. So then all of my momentum just makes me fall. Like you kind of like get out of the way.
Speaker 8:
[50:07] Yeah.
Speaker 3:
[50:07] And then all the moment. So we get a little quick playoff talk.
Speaker 8:
[50:11] Can we talk about LeBron James playing like he's 22 years old? Lose.
Speaker 3:
[50:15] It's kind of crazy.
Speaker 8:
[50:16] All-star players alongside of him and they're like LeBron, you can either lay down and call it the playoffs, call it a career up. And he said, you know what? I don't have many post seasons left in me.
Speaker 7:
[50:26] Yeah.
Speaker 8:
[50:26] And he's playing like he's 25 years old.
Speaker 3:
[50:28] My favorite moment of recent history was about a week ago when Tim asked Mike, Mike, who's your favorite basketball team? And Mike said, I got like three. Yeah, because I got, you know, I like the Warriors, Warriors, Nuggets, Nuggets, because I'm from Colorado and the Kings. I like, you know, Sacktown. Yeah, like the Kings.
Speaker 8:
[50:49] Yeah.
Speaker 3:
[50:49] And he goes, also, I like the Thunder.
Speaker 8:
[50:52] I like the Thunder right now.
Speaker 3:
[50:53] They got my boy, Andy. And I said, what's his name? Silent. Greg goes, what's his name?
Speaker 8:
[51:01] You know, just fraud. Jared. I love Jared McCain. That's my guy, bro. So, yeah, I'm like rooting on them. Detroit's finally good. We like the Pistons over there in the East, for sure. LaMelo got bounced. God, I love that LaMelo man. I love LaMelo, the Batman villain. That's what they call him.
Speaker 3:
[51:24] He is he's terrorizing the streets of New Orleans.
Speaker 8:
[51:28] He's got a cyber of Charlotte and Charlie. Sorry, got a cyber truck and he's driving a thousand miles an hour.
Speaker 3:
[51:32] He's gotten like seven speeding tickets. They people record him leaving the team like a facilities. He's gonna kill somebody one day. It's insane. This guy's a menace. The menace of the city.
Speaker 7:
[51:44] Is he related to Carmelo Anthony?
Speaker 8:
[51:47] No, no, no.
Speaker 7:
[51:48] He's like little mellow.
Speaker 8:
[51:49] I want to show him the toe tattoos. You got to see LaMelo balls. Toe tattoos. Yeah, he's got Cheetos. He's got Cheetos for toe.
Speaker 3:
[51:58] Yeah, like flaming hot toes.
Speaker 8:
[51:59] Yeah, so crazy.
Speaker 7:
[52:00] Very different, but kind of similar. My favorite, and this is old now, but when I sent you a private message from Tim, who to me was like, Greg, have you ever heard of, in the NBA, have you ever heard of Phil Jackson? I was like, the greatest coach of all time?
Speaker 3:
[52:15] Yeah, I've heard of him.
Speaker 7:
[52:17] For the Chicago Bulls, the LA Lakers, yeah, I've heard of him, Tim.
Speaker 3:
[52:20] It's so unbelievable how little people know ball around here. Like, it's just, it's embarrassing. Embarrassing.
Speaker 8:
[52:25] But you know what they know, video games.
Speaker 7:
[52:28] And that's what we talk about each and every weekday here on the Kinda Funny Gamescast. And on Kinda Funny as a whole. Remember, we're a live talk show network all about gaming. We kick off with Kinda Funny Games daily in the biggest news stories, running to the Gamescast for the biggest topics, then either an afternoon program or a big stream. What are you playing today, Mike?
Speaker 8:
[52:46] We're going to play Overwatch with the developers to talk about season one, how that went, the future of Overwatch, celebrating a big year. Super excited to team up with the devs because I'm getting a little bit better at the game, but also at the same time, I'm really bad. So I'm looking for some tips.
Speaker 7:
[53:00] Hey, Overwatch, Diablo, you, me.
Speaker 3:
[53:05] I think I said Expanse.
Speaker 8:
[53:06] BlizzCon. BlizzCon.
Speaker 7:
[53:09] Let's go to BlizzCon.
Speaker 8:
[53:09] We want to go to BlizzCon.
Speaker 7:
[53:11] BlizzCon, Andy. You want to go to BlizzCon? Big deal. It's DMI. It's DMI. Sorry, you're not a big man.
Speaker 8:
[53:15] You're not a big man. What are you talking about? You gotta adopt one of the games.
Speaker 7:
[53:18] We're the Blizz Boys.
Speaker 8:
[53:19] Overwatch. Overwatch.
Speaker 7:
[53:20] He's the Overwatch guy on the Diablo.
Speaker 8:
[53:22] Bullshit. Yeah, you're gonna have to do Hearthstone.
Speaker 3:
[53:24] That's fucking bullshit.
Speaker 2:
[53:26] I don't like that.
Speaker 7:
[53:28] Everybody, this is the Kinda Funny Gamescast. Like, subscribe, share, pick up your membership. Talk to me at Mike at BlizzCon. And until next time, no, it's been our pleasure to serve you.
