Speaker 2:
[00:25] Hello, hello, thank you guys for having me.
Speaker 1:
[00:26] Yeah, you got it. One of my favorite places to hang out, Mountain View, as I understand it, is where your date took place. Tell me about your date. I know you and Jenna met online, but like, what did you do for the date?
Speaker 2:
[00:38] Yeah, like I said, went to Mountain View. Honestly, there was like a lot of chemistry, like we were going back and forth so easily, like some genuine flirting that it was just honestly fun. Like I haven't felt that level of fun in a long time. It was like one of those dates where time moves fast, and we were locked in, and talked about grabbing food together next time, like there was talk of the next time.
Speaker 1:
[01:05] Okay. By the way, I kind of low-key hate that when the time moves so fast and you wanted to keep going, but you know in your heart, you have to save some for next time. It's so hard to cut it off.
Speaker 2:
[01:16] God.
Speaker 1:
[01:18] There was a guy a week ago who couldn't, he couldn't stop talking. That's the reason she ghosted him.
Speaker 2:
[01:23] Oh my God.
Speaker 1:
[01:25] Anyway, sorry, back to you. So nothing weird happened?
Speaker 2:
[01:29] Nothing that I can think of. Absolutely not. There were jokes, there were inside jokes. We had made plans, basically, to meet up another time.
Speaker 1:
[01:39] Well, let's get her on the phone. We're gonna call Jenna and try to figure out why she ghosted. I would love to get you a second date, but let's see how the date went from her perspective. Here we go. Hi, I'm looking for Jenna, please.
Speaker 3:
[01:58] This is Jenna.
Speaker 1:
[01:59] Jenna, it's Marcus Calling from Star 101.3. Good morning.
Speaker 3:
[02:05] Really?
Speaker 1:
[02:06] Yes. Do you listen to our show?
Speaker 3:
[02:11] I listen every morning, yes.
Speaker 1:
[02:12] I was gonna say, please say yes, please say yes, please say yes. Okay, great. Do you want to be on it?
Speaker 2:
[02:19] Yes. What's going on?
Speaker 1:
[02:23] We're doing Second Date Update right now. Does that mean anything to you?
Speaker 3:
[02:25] Oh, no.
Speaker 1:
[02:27] Oh, yeah. What's happening? Oh, no.
Speaker 3:
[02:32] Okay. Yeah, I know exactly what's gonna happen. Oh, boy.
Speaker 1:
[02:36] Have you been on a date recently?
Speaker 3:
[02:37] Go ahead. I sure have.
Speaker 1:
[02:40] Okay.
Speaker 3:
[02:41] Oh, I can't believe this.
Speaker 1:
[02:43] Did you ghost on said date?
Speaker 3:
[02:45] I did. I don't know if I call it ghosting. I just didn't respond.
Speaker 1:
[02:52] Yes, that's what that is. May I bring your date on?
Speaker 3:
[02:59] Yeah, I know he's there, Ryan.
Speaker 1:
[03:01] Ryan, are you there?
Speaker 2:
[03:03] Hi, how are you?
Speaker 1:
[03:05] Excellent.
Speaker 3:
[03:05] Hi, Ryan.
Speaker 1:
[03:07] Okay.
Speaker 2:
[03:08] Hey, what's up, Jenna?
Speaker 1:
[03:10] So he likes you a lot. He said there were plans to make plans for plans for date two. So what did something happen?
Speaker 3:
[03:20] We like, I don't know, maybe I didn't see it as planned plans. Like there was no like hardcore anything. We talked about what we would do on the next date. And I did have a lot of fun. It started off really strong. I liked him. I thought he was funny. Sorry. I know you're there, Ryan. I thought you were funny. You were very engaging and easy to talk to. But then the phone came out. At first, it was just like, oh, you have to see this quick video, and then a meme or a photo, and that was fine. But then it was another one and another one, and it just slowly, the whole date turned into Ryan just unlocking his phone every few minutes to show me something.
Speaker 2:
[04:03] Well, if I can just button real quick. I mean, first of all, I agree that it was a lot of fun and that the plans to make plans were planned. But with the phone thing, that was just me sharing parts of my life. Like I thought it was a connection point, like things you'd find funny, interesting, you know, common ground.
Speaker 3:
[04:25] The first one or two or even 10, yes. But then at like one point, you're just like fully scrolling and laughing on your phone. And I just sat there watching you. And that was for like 10, 20 minutes. It was like I wasn't even there.
Speaker 2:
[04:45] I don't remember that, okay. I didn't know it got to that extent.
Speaker 1:
[04:52] Yeah. So this messes up for you, Jenna?
Speaker 3:
[04:55] It did. It changed the energy. I don't know. I guess I wish I was better at saying something in the moment, but I came to talk to you and not sit there while you scroll on your phone or show me other things on your phone. I wanted to hear what you thought, not what TikTok thought.
Speaker 2:
[05:11] No, totally. I was just trying to make things like fun, interactive, like showing you parts of that part of myself, of like, oh, this is what I find funny. This is what I find. It was a conversation starter in my mind.
Speaker 3:
[05:27] Well, it was not for me. For me, it did the opposite. It was like I was competing with the screen. Like, that was your date, and you wanted me to be more like her, you know?
Speaker 2:
[05:40] Okay. I'm just, because I don't think it was that awful. Like, it was, it's kind of how people communicate now anyway.
Speaker 3:
[05:49] Outside of a date, maybe, or like, you know, when you're not in the same room. But like, I have never communicated solely through sitting next to someone on my phone and not speaking to them and just showing them memes and pictures and videos. At one point, there are no words coming out of your mouth. It was just this and then this and then this. Laugh, laugh, laugh. And I was just like, I don't, ugh, I don't know. It gave me an itch, sorry.
Speaker 1:
[06:14] All right. Is this salvageable at all? Like, I'm hearing both of you. It makes sense. We've got some self-awareness now. Ryan could ease up on the phone. Jenna, would you still be in? I mean, I know once the it comes, I don't know. Would you want to try for a second date?
Speaker 3:
[06:31] I don't feel like it would change, and I'd rather date a guy who's more engaged IRL. You know, I want someone who's a human.
