Speaker 1:
[00:17] You are listening to The Daily Roundup here as part of the Reality Steve Podcast. I'm your host Reality Steve. Thank you all for tuning in on this Wednesday. A good show for you today. We're going to go over briefly what I did on my YouTube Live yesterday, reading off every single email exchange between Laura Owens and I. My gosh, I feel like I'm losing my voice. That thing was almost three hours long. We are going to discuss Bailey from Bachelor in Paradise, going on the She's All Bach podcast, talking about her very uncomfortable interview that she did on the Viall Files podcast. Shocker. Then we're going to dive even deeper into the Alex Cooper allegations. Alex Earl hasn't said anything, but Bloomberg came out with a report yesterday, and then a former person who interviewed to be part of the Unwell Network, put out an Instagram story that we are going to go over. So a lot to get to today. Let's get started. Yesterday on my YouTube channel, I did about a three-hour show reading every single email and every single attachment that Laura Owens ever sent me between September 25th of 2023 and January 4th of 2024. It was a lot. I had skimmed those when I was putting it together, but I had never read them from beginning to end, probably since the day she sent them. So it's been over two years since I read those emails from beginning to end. And boy, oh boy, if you are a follower of the Love Trapped Podcast, and then a lot of the stuff you're hearing on the Love Trapped Podcast is kind of after that. I guess the beginning episodes covered what it was like in the beginning, because the article that she posted to the Sun, she posted, that the Sun posted where they said, hey, here's Laura Owens. Well, they didn't mention her by name, but they said an Arizona podcaster is claiming to be pregnant with twins by Clayton Eckard. And here's the things that he said and did to her. And Sun obviously did no background check whatsoever. And they just printed whatever Laura told them. That was on September 18th of 2023. My emails start one week later, September 25th of 2023. And Laura reaching out to me for the first two emails. And I mean, they're on my YouTube channel. I'm not going to obviously go and redo them. But I think just for the people who follow the Love Trapped Podcast and you're hearing in the later episodes, the things that Laura said to not only Clayton, but to Mike and Greg in text messages, in emails, you could see that she was sending me the same stuff. Not obviously anything going on between us. I've never met Laura in my life. I've never spoken to Laura in my life. I'm just talking about the way that she presents herself and the way she comes across and how upset she gets in emails, and the contradictions that she had in her emails. When I would call her out for stuff and ask particular questions, how she would just avoid it in her response email to me. It's all there. I think people got a kick out of it yesterday. It's hilarious. It's also sad and should be not surprising to anybody, just the way she is. You just got to remember if you watched it yesterday, or you're going to go listen to it at some point, I'm going to release it in audio form probably this weekend, because it's a three-hour long podcast. I'll probably wait till this weekend. So give you a few days, check it out on YouTube, and it's actually better on YouTube because you actually can see the emails. But if you just want to listen to me, read her emails, and there are a lot of them. There were 29 emails total that I read, and I want to say me responding to her was probably seven of them, maybe eight. So over 20 emails were from her, and I just went in order. You can see it in the upper right-hand corner, when she sent them and the time that she sent them, and we went in order of everything from September 25th to January 4th, September 25th of 2023 to January 4th of 2024. So go check it out on my YouTube channel. You can't miss it, but you got to go to my live segment. It's not under videos, it's under live, and it's reading Laura Owens' emails to me, is the actual title of it, and the picture and the thumbnail of it. So yeah, it was crazy reading that back. We had Rachel Juarez come on in the last 20 minutes, because I didn't realize she had jumped into the chat, so I sent her the link to come in, and we talked for about 20 or 30 minutes to end the show. So you can go check that out. But yeah, that was a wild ride yesterday, doing that. I feel like my voice was really getting hoarse, reading that much. I can't remember the last time I talked for three hours straight. And yeah, those were emails that, again, if you're listening, if you're a love-trapped listener, you just have to put yourself back early on to those times. Because there are things in there that you were like, Steve, why didn't you respond this way? Why didn't you respond this way? Because you got to remember, Mike and Greg weren't really a thing that I knew very much about back when this all broke. We didn't know about them. Clayton did, but we didn't know everything that we've heard come out in the Love Trap podcast. We didn't hear about any of that until much later, long after Laura stopped emailing me in January of 2024, or we stopped communicating because I told her, I'm done with you. I'm going to let the Arizona Courts handle this from here on out. Good luck. You're going to need it. That was basically the last email I sent to her and never heard back from her since. So go check it out. A lot of fun. Like I said, the audio version I'll probably release this weekend at some point. Bailey Brown from Bachelor in Paradise this season, who's in a relationship with Jeremy and has been ever since last summer, went on the She's All Bach podcast. The thing I want to talk about, go check it out. It was a good interview. She dives into what it was like getting all the heat from America in regards to people said she should have stuck up for herself more. Why was she sticking around with Jeremy after what he did, and Jeremy had this edit where he was after Susie, all this stuff. But one of the things that Bailey talked about, and Stephanie promoted on the She's All Bach podcast before it came out yesterday, was Bailey saying she did not really get a good vibe from Nick Viall when she went on his podcast, and she was kind of uncomfortable with something that he said. That was the tease going into yesterday. So in the podcast, she basically says when he brought her on, she said something to the effect of, oh, Bailey's here, Rachel's here. You guys both know what it's like to be second best to Susie. And she said, it was like so foul. It was the second best to Susie. And you know what it's like to have to, and he said more to it. There was actually a lot more layers that went into the comment. And I don't know if they cut it out because literally so foul and evil. And if they cut it out, because thankfully I was in Portugal doing it. I had horrible service on my laptop, it literally went out, my Wi-Fi went out. Literally, God was like, do not post that. And from that moment, like normally a confident person, I'm not afraid to stand up for myself, but I was also taken aback by that statement immediately. And I was like, holy shit, I don't want to talk on this podcast the entire time. So, I mean, again, Nick Viall putting his foot in his mouth, not being a good host, making women uncomfortable on his podcast. Like, why would you even say that? Unless you're giving her a heads up and saying, hey, I want to make a joke about this beforehand. Even then, I don't know if, I mean, Bailey probably would have went along with it and just be like, oh, okay, still probably wouldn't have liked it. But when you just spring that on somebody, like how big of a dick do you have to be when you have a guest on, and Rachel Recchia is there, and you say, hey, Bailey and Rachel are here. Both played second fiddle to Susie, second best to Susie. Bailey in Bachelor in Paradise, which is clearly a sticking point for her, because she had to hear it all summer of people saying, oh my God, Jeremy wanted Susie more than you, why don't you stick up for yourself? So now she has to hear it from the host whose show she's on. Then we all know Rachel Recchia, finished second to Susie on the Bachelor season with Clayton. Nick has to throw that out there on the podcast? I mean, I could say it till I'm blue in the face. I don't know how many more times this guy needs to put his foot in his mouth for people to see who the real guy is. Not a good guy. His wife, not a good woman, together, not a good couple. They time and time and time again, keep doing shit that gets under the skin of people and then never address it. Makes people uncomfortable and then never address it because they don't believe in addressing quote unquote trolls or quote unquote basically podcasts that are beneath them, which is just such a head in the sand approach to stuff like this. And it shows why that podcast and those people make me sick. And I hate the platform they are given. It's not jealousy because how many times over the last six months have I pointed out something that Nick Viall said that not only me but numerous other people have called out and he has never once come back and said, you know what, thinking about that and hearing your responses, you know what, I screwed up on that. That's my bad. I apologize. Has this guy apologize once ever in his life? Has he never made a mistake on his podcast? He doesn't think he should apologize? Shit, I apologize on this podcast sometimes when I get a small fact wrong on a story I reported the day before. I was like, oops, I read that wrong. It's this. I say, sorry about that. It's not that hard to apologize. It's not a big deal. But this guy, just ego, out of control. But again, should we be surprised by any of this? The answer would be no. [14:10] Speaking of podcast, we are going to end this last 10 to 15 minutes talking about what's going on with the Unwell Network, which is Alex Cooper's business that she runs with her husband, Matt Kaplan. And I've been teasing, and Alex Earl has been teasing for a week now. Hey, I've basically got dirt on Alex Cooper and I'm going to say something eventually. We have no idea when it's coming. She's never said and given a date or on anything, but apparently she is going to say something at some point. Well, yesterday one shoe dropped, and that was Bloomberg did a expose on the Unwell Network. And I'm going to skim through the story here and just kind of give you the beats of it. Cooper and her husband, Matt Kaplan, began hiring dozens of employees to their staff, their business as they expanded into live TV events, TV series, creative agency and physical products. It wasn't just podcasts anymore. Many of the new recruits were young adults who knew Cooper's show and were eager to be a part of her company's festive aura while working alongside a woman that they admired. So they were hiring some of her fans that were obviously big into production and podcasting and stuff like that. That makes sense. I would make, it would make sense of her to hire people like that to join her Unwell Network. She's busy with her show, so it's said that that left Matt Kaplan to run most of the network's day-to-day operations. Along the way, he earned a reputation for frequently yelling at staff members. The issues have grown so acute that crew members have threatened to walk off the job at film sets and live tours if he doesn't keep his distance. They talked about the Unwell Winter Games, which we just saw last week on YouTube, in which influencers squared off against each other in events. According to TMZ, there were some logistical problems during the run up to their series, resulting in an influencer contestant dropping out. We saw that unexpectedly. Another point during filming, according to people familiar with the events, is Matt Kaplan berated the staff on set and threatened to prevent them from ever working in Hollywood again if they messed up, resulting in a prominent, long-experienced crew member breaking down in tears. Crew members filed complaints through the formal onset process and eventually told leadership they would quit if Kaplan didn't behave better. It goes on to say that Matt Kaplan has been known to disrespect the staff by yelling and swearing at them. In the past year, several high-level execs have left Unwell, including the company's head of brand and marketing, head of the network, its second in three years, and the chief growth officer. Cooper has said Unwell employs around 100 people. On LinkedIn, at least 20 have marked themselves as leaving in the last year, 2025 and 2026. Now, her podcasting network, the Unwell Network has 11 podcasts underneath it, if you go to their site right now. Call Her Daddy is clearly the biggest one. And what it says in this story is, Call Her Daddy continues to be their biggest show. Podscribe, which is a podcast data company, estimates most shows on her network receive under 100,000 downloads a month. Call Her Daddy receives an estimated 13 million downloads a month. So that's just Podscribe. It could be off by a little bit, but it's not like if this is saying Podscribe is saying these podcasts get less than 100,000 downloads per month, the other 10 podcasts on her network. It's not like they would be off by three, four, 500,000. It's probably pretty close to that, which is crazy because I'm like, well, hey, Call Her Daddy, why not bring me in? Why don't you bring in the reality, what's the name of my fucking show? The Daily Roundup. I'm doing better than that. 100,000 downloads a month? Alex, give me a call. We'll do lunch. Just don't bring your husband. I don't want to get berated over dinner. So basically, this article was essentially saying, Alex Cooper is successful, her husband runs the business side of things because she focuses so much on her podcast, and he's basically a dick behind the scenes, and a lot of people have complained about him. That's what the expose is essentially saying. It never really dove into anything that Alex ever did. But someone took to Instagram story yesterday, a woman by the name of Courtney Babin. It's Courtney underscore Babin on Instagram story. She posted this yesterday with a screenshot of that Bloomberg story, and she said, this was about five Instagram posts. I'm just going to read it to you really quick. So last year when I was still living in LA, I made it to the final round for the event director role at Unwell. I had a verbal acceptance and was so excited to land what I thought was a dream job. When I went into my final round with Matt Kaplan, everything changed. Everything is in all caps. It was the most horrific, inappropriate, unprofessional, almost two-hour long interview. Safe to say I did not get the job nor would have accepted it at that point. Glad to hear people who work there, have worked there are finally speaking out. Super disappointing experience after being a Call Her Daddy fan for so many years. Down with that place and those people. So I messaged Dumois right after it happened to try and expose him but there wasn't enough concrete evidence from me and many others to release any sort of story. But here we go, baby. But what do you mean you gave it to Dumois and there wasn't enough concrete evidence? They post anything. I'm stunned they didn't post this. They must be in bed with Alex Cooper then because this is right up their alley to post. What do you mean you didn't have enough concrete evidence? The only thing you need to do is tell that story. Did I mention he sat, and she goes, continues, did I mention he sat me on an incredibly low couch while he sat a few feet above me facing a mirror looking at himself the entire time, two hours, not paying attention to anything to me? Remember, if I took the job, he would have been one of my direct reports. Hell to the no. His favorite question in interviews is to ask what someone's parents do for a living because he assumes everyone in LA is a NEPO baby. Like, why? I told him I didn't know what that had to do with my interview and felt uncomfortable answering literally, shaking, and he responded by saying, dumb lazy bitches work at his company. Guys, I swear. Imagine. Oh, he asked if I was Jewish too, but honestly forgot about that one because I've never been asked so many personal questions during a professional interview. Okay, I think I'm done now. LMAO tried to block it out, but here we are. And then she put one final one up that said, I also had to pay for parking each time I went to the interviews without reimbursement. And lastly, the person from HR who I was working with who scheduled this interview, Matt told me he is a fucking idiot who he's fired previously and just has him on contract while they replace him. He, HR man, got fired apparently because he recorded people talking shit about the company during an internal meeting. Why I know this info, I do not know. Now, granted, that's just one person's account, and that is someone who, I mean, we don't want to not believe them, but she did show evidence in one of the photos of her appointment to in-person interview with Matt Kaplan, along with the address of where she had to go and the date of it, which was February 19th, 2025.

Speaker 1:
[21:55] So again, if she's making all of this up, then maybe Alex and Matt will sue her pants off and take her to court and say that's defamation. I don't know, but it's not good stuff coming out of the Unwell Network. I didn't even know because I was like, how many shows does the Unwell Network have? Yesterday, I went to it and as I mentioned a little bit earlier, they have 11 shows and the shows on the Unwell Network are obviously Call Her Daddy, Pretty Lonesome hosted by Madeleine Argy Boyfriend Material by Harry Jousey. I've heard of that one. Extra Dirty hosted by Haley Batchelder, which I heard only because I watched the first two episodes of the Winter Games show. I didn't know who Haley was until that. In Your Dreams hosted by Owen Thiel, Going West is a True Crime Podcast. The Burnouts hosted by Phoebe Gates and Sophia Chiani. Reality Recap hosted by Queen E, but when I clicked on that, Reality Recap by Queen E hasn't posted a new show in 2026. So my guess is that show is gone. Also, the Not So Little Show by Kendall Vertis and Cheers with Avery Woods. Now, according to that Bloomberg article, none of those other shows are even getting over 100,000 downloads a month. Now, when I looked at those shows, they're all still on there outside of the Reality Recap one with that woman. Who is it? What's her name? Queen E. That last episode was December 16th, 2025. All of those shows seem to be weekly shows. There's a couple, I think the True Crime one releases one every three or four days, but pretty much all of them are weekly shows. I'm going to sit here and shit on numbers because there was a time where I didn't do great numbers on my podcast. You have to build up your podcast. But if Alex Cooper is wanting to build a podcast network and she's bringing in already established shows or creating her own shows, the thing is, if those numbers are accurate from Bloomberg, and none of these other shows can get up to 100,000 downloads a month, but yet Call Her Daddy is getting 13 million a month, which I don't doubt for a second because we all know how popular Call Her Daddy is. It just shows that maybe Alex Cooper isn't really great at developing talent or acquiring talent. When you sign on to a network, you have to split money with her. I don't know what their splits are. I could probably guess, but it would just be a guess. I don't want to throw it out there. But she's going to take a percentage of everything that you bring in, because basically she's saying, you're on my network now. I'm the Unwell Network. I'm very popular. My podcast is very popular. You're basically getting in business with the Alex Cooper brand, which seemingly before the last couple of weeks, I assumed was on a skyrocket straight to the moon, and now it's being torn down. The Bloomberg article certainly doesn't help that her husband apparently is an asshole behind the scenes and treats people like shit. I think now more and more people, this woman didn't even work for Unwell, and she took five Instagram stories to tell everybody how horrible her experience was just going in for an interview. I'm curious to see now how many people come out of the woodwork, people that actually worked for her and said, this is it. I'm sure Alex Earl, this is what she's referring to. More along the lines of, remember when I was teasing at the last couple of weeks, I said, look, if she just says that Alex Cooper is a mean girl, and while she platforms women, she talks shit behind them, she talks shit about them behind their backs, I'll be like, okay, I don't think that's a huge deal. But maybe Alex Earl has got some receipts and she's going after the Unwell Network, and she's going to go after people. That seems to be where this is headed. My guess now is when Alex Earl does speak, it's going to be about the Unwell Network and the hiring practices and what it's like to work there, and behind the scenes, and maybe go into more detail about things that Matt said to her. I mean, the biggest bombshell would be if somehow Alex Earl, and this is just a complete guess on my part. This isn't any sort of news that I've heard or anything like that. But the way Alex Earl is teasing stuff, again, now Bloomberg has almost beaten Alex Earl to the point of, yeah, behind the scenes at Unwell, it is a absolute shit show, and Alex's husband is the cause of all of it because he's been a dick to a bunch of people. Now, if Alex Earl comes out and says, this guy tried to hit on me, and this guy tried to do this with me, then I think we're talking about a full takedown, and that's going, I don't even know if it would ruin the Unwell Network. I think people would still tune in to call her daddy to see what Alex Cooper says in response, because you know Alex Cooper's first podcast after Alex Earl does speak is going to be one of the most listened to podcasts in the world. We'll be covering it here on this podcast. But again, if it's Alex Earl just saying Matt Kaplan, I've heard speaking to other people that work there is a total dick and whatnot. It's like, okay. You know, I don't think that's bringing, like the only way the Unwell Network is going to fail, considering if this is true, the Bloomberg Report and 10 of those 11 podcasts are getting less than 100,000 downloads a month. But Alex Cooper's is bringing in 13 million downloads a month. I don't think anything's going to change in the Unwell Network revenue stream. It would have to be advertisers falling off, her maybe firing her husband, her maybe getting a divorce because something else is going to come up. I mean, when you hear this stuff, I'm just saying if down the road, we hear about some sort of sexual advancements, maybe not made to Alex Earl, but if we hear people saying, Matt Kaplan hit on me, Matt Kaplan did this. If we start hearing that stuff and I feel like that's where the tide is headed and where this is going, just based on that woman's experience with him in a job interview, the Bloomberg report saying he was behind the scenes, rude to people, cursing them out. People, 20% of the staff leaving in the last year and a half, it almost does seem like this is headed towards, maybe it's more about Alex Cooper's husband than it is about her. Now, I'm sure that there's still people are going to say she's a mean girl and she wasn't nice and she talked a lot of shit behind women's backs, and that doesn't look good for Alex Cooper, but her podcast is dominating. So until advertisers fall off or until Unwell Network has to get rid of all their other shows or whatever, it seems like Alex Cooper is probably going to weather this storm, but it will be interesting to see what she says about it, because this woman responds to everything. Because all Alex Earl did in the last couple of weeks was repost a few things and like a couple of things that through shaded Alex Cooper. Alex Cooper took the time out of her day to put out an Instagram story saying, knock it off, just say what you need to say. Well, now Alex Earl is probably going to come out and say what she needs to say at some point. You know, Alex Cooper is going to respond to that, and now it's going to be really interesting to see what she says in response, especially since, I mean, I don't listen to call her daddy except when it is clips that I need to play for you guys. But as far as I know, she does not talk about her personal life on that show in terms of bringing Matt into it. I don't think Matt has ever been a guest. Maybe he has once or twice. But as far as I know, he has never been in the news like he has been in the news these last couple of days with now this Instagram story from this woman who interviewed with him, and now the Bloomberg report. Alex Cooper is going to have to address this. And if she doesn't, she's no better than Nick Viall. She knows what's out there. There is a national storyline out there about her husband now being very, very verbally abusive to women. And she is a woman who, what, stands for women, women empowerment, you go girl, boss bitch, daddy gang. Well, her husband is MFing people behind the scenes. Doesn't she need to say something about that? I'm not sitting here and saying she needs to go divorce him tomorrow, but it would really be hypocritical of her brand to not call her husband out. So she's either going to come out and say, hey, I've spoken to my husband about this. He says the allegations are false. I know they're false. These are just people trying to bring me down because I'm on top. That could certainly be an answer. Or she's going to say, I'm hearing about this for the first time. I had no idea my husband did this. I'm appalled by his behavior, and we're going to deal with it on our own terms. Whatever those terms are, I'll let you know. It's going to be one of those two things. Either she's going to come out and say, first I'm hearing it, and I will deal with it privately, or this is all bullshit, people are just taking shots at me right now, because it's the cool thing to do, and none of this is true. None of these allegations are true, and I don't believe these women, because my husband is not that type of guy. This is going to be very, very interesting because even though that one woman yesterday on Instagram story, who never even worked at Unwell Network, still decided to put out five Instagram stories about an interview that she did with Matt Kaplan. Now finding out from the Bloomberg story, 20 percent of the people that worked there, of the 100 people have left in the last year and a half. I have a feeling more people, they might have to lawyer up first, but more people are going to come forward and talk about their experience at Unwell. And let's see how much of that experience at Unwell was made uncomfortable by Matt Kaplan, Alex Cooper's husband, or by Alex herself. It seems like it's more leaning towards Matt, not absolving Alex Cooper of any wrongdoing here. But according to the Bloomberg story, it really does seem like it's more about Matt Kaplan, her husband. So this is going to be a story that you're going to be hearing about a lot on this podcast because this stuff really interests me. I'm in the podcast game. This is the leading podcast out there or top three in the world. And her empire is starting to be targeted right now. Love Overboard hasn't gotten the greatest reviews. Unwell Winter Games, she took a lot of shit for, for letting Dakota and Huda on that show and not Yankee get off the air. So she's under fire right now. And I'm really curious to see how she reacts to this. Anyway, we'll be covering this as much as more news comes to the forefront. Thank you all for listening. I really appreciate it. Follow me on Apple Podcasts. Also rate and review, but you got to hit play. It's the only way it counts as the download. Of course, daily coming up in an hour from now, if you want to check that out. And yeah, I've got a lot of Temptation Island stuff coming in the next year. I didn't bring that up at the beginning of the podcast. Sorry about that. I should have, but tomorrow's podcast, weekly podcast is going to be a combination of two different interviews that I did, and it's going to air. I mean, tonight is part one of the Temptation Island reunion on the Viall files. Let's see who we made uncomfortable during that taping. Then I'm allowed to post anytime after 730 Eastern time tomorrow night, but you'll get my first Temptation Island interview, a combo interview, that is going to be my weekly podcast. That'll be coming tomorrow at podcast number 492. Then after that, I just got to figure out how I'm going to release all the other ones that I have, and I still have to record one or two more, I think. A lot of Temptation Island coverage coming up starting tomorrow. Anyway, thanks again for listening. I appreciate it. I'll talk to you tomorrow.
