"This one is a doozy. We just need to get into it and I’m just telling everyone right now, if you’re drinking for contradictions you are going to be schmamered." And it's not just Abby fueling the contradictions this week as all the moms try and get in on the action. It really is a case of "Oops! All Contradictions".
What better way to start a contradiction heavy episode than with something that feels just as jarring, forgoing Pyramid until later in the episode! In "Video Killed the ALDC Star" we open with Abby overseeing Kendall's music video shoot. Much is made about how Nia has been excluded from the shoot and that Holly and Nia "have made their beds and now must sleep in them" which you'll quickly tire of hearing by at least the third time it's mentioned. But Nia shrugs off Abby's words when confronted directly, rightfully understanding it's more of an Abby problem than a Nia problem.
Nia's music video shoot by comparison goes over terrifically well, but the moms find a way to make an issue out of it anyways. First it's over the fact Holly waas posting too much about it... which yeah her daughter is shooting a music video wouldn't you be proud? Jill claims Holly is just trying to rub it in their faces... like no really what is this? That's clearly not what's happening but I guess the moms really just are that competitive at all times. But things get worse when Aubrey O'Day jazzes Nia on socials by claiming they're making the best ALDC member music video to date, then the moms start to get truly apocalyptic with Holly. Jill claims Aubrey's post is a direct insult towards Kendall and demands Holly apologize. Except the moms never would expect the same of Abby whose more outwardly hostile than Aubrey and directly insulted Nia before the shoot and continues to do so after!
What's equally funny is the moms claim to be angry they weren't invited to Nia's shoot despite the fact Abby deliberately orchestrated it so they couldn't. Even if that wasn't the case, THEY WERE ACTUALLY INVITED! The moms turn down Holly's offer to, get this, get matching tattoos?!?!?! Did we know Melissa and Jill had matching tattoos? This is news to us! Do they still have them? We demand answers!
Will all this bickering over music videos lead to a weaker than average showing at competition? Well was it a good idea to give a solo to Kendall when she also had to shoot a music video the same week?
Quotes
“I was trying to explain to someone that every episode of Dance Moms is exactly the same. So we can’t remember what they’re fighting about because they’re all the same! -christi" (05:52-06:01 | Christi)"Abby is physically incapable of [showing support for Nia], because she is Ursula. She steals talent from children. She cannot celebrate a child unless it benefits her." (39:48-40:03 | Christi)“Now [Abby] is once again this episode, creaming her jeans. I believe for the third time. It’s a very jean cream heavy episode. Ugh. Jill creamed her jeans… I think Holly might have even creamed her jeans during Nia’s video. Oh god. Holly creamed her jeans. Holy s**t! We had a Holly jean cream moment. Never in my life did I think I’d say those words." (1:13:49-1:14:16 | Christi & Kelly)“There’s no walls here yet. So we have a trophy but we don’t have a wall. I’m thinking you could have left those at your hotel room for a couple weeks." (1:34:29-1:34:37 | Christi)

Speaker 1:
[00:02] Hello, little bitchettes, welcome back to the Barre. It's bitch number one, Christi.

Speaker 2:
[00:06] And bitch number two, Kelly.

Speaker 1:
[00:08] Look at us, we have a logo. It's above your head.

Speaker 2:
[00:16] Oh.

Speaker 1:
[00:17] Yeah. Wait, we're trying so hard to up our tech game. We are trying.

Speaker 2:
[00:25] But meanwhile, neither of our names at the bottom, kind of that that's kind of blurred out. We maybe should have that in purple.

Speaker 1:
[00:33] What do you mean neon names where it says Christi and Kelly?

Speaker 2:
[00:36] Yeah.

Speaker 1:
[00:37] It's fine on mine. Can you not see it?

Speaker 2:
[00:40] Mine's bright purple. What I'm saying is, is the back to the bar is in white. It doesn't stand out like.

Speaker 1:
[00:48] Oh, got it. I got what you're saying. So you're saying that we need to.

Speaker 2:
[00:55] Brighten it up a little bit.

Speaker 1:
[00:57] Yeah. Got it. Okay.

Speaker 2:
[00:58] Let's see.

Speaker 1:
[00:59] Wait. Look, I'm changing the colors of our names right now.

Speaker 2:
[01:03] Yeah. I'd rather those be a little dull.

Speaker 1:
[01:06] All right. Here. How's that? I made those. Is that better?

Speaker 2:
[01:10] Yeah.

Speaker 1:
[01:11] I mean, it's fine for now. Okay. Well, we are going to play with this. And in today's recording, if I can make it work, I have some special surprises. So buckle up if you are watching on Patreon because-

Speaker 2:
[01:27] I might be scared for these.

Speaker 1:
[01:29] No, no. You're not in them. So what are you scared for? Oh, good. That's not us. You have nothing to fear, Kelly. You're safe.

Speaker 2:
[01:36] I don't know every time I say something, I get myself into trouble.

Speaker 1:
[01:39] This is true. This is true. This is a doozy. So I think we need to get right into it. And I'm just telling everyone right now, if you are drinking for contradictions, you're going to be shmammar.

Speaker 2:
[01:54] Yes.

Speaker 1:
[01:57] What are you drinking today? Are you drinking anything?

Speaker 2:
[02:00] Me? No. Diet Coke and water.

Speaker 1:
[02:03] Oh, I actually look, my glass matches our little names. I didn't even do that on purpose.

Speaker 2:
[02:08] Yeah. Look how cute. What do you have?

Speaker 1:
[02:10] Purple microphone. A Simply Naked.

Speaker 2:
[02:16] But in a fancy glass.

Speaker 1:
[02:18] I did put it in a fancy glass. I just don't want to have my can here because I'm afraid it's going to make noise.

Speaker 2:
[02:23] Yeah. What flavor is it?

Speaker 1:
[02:26] Blackberry Limeade.

Speaker 2:
[02:30] That actually sounds good.

Speaker 1:
[02:32] It's pretty good. It's pretty good. The thing I like about, I don't drink a lot of carbonated stuff. That's why I like a Twisted Tea or I like, what's the other one I like? Surfside. I don't like carbonation because I feel like a lot of times when you drink a carbonated drink with alcohol in it, there's no flavor. It's very dull with a hint of flavor.

Speaker 2:
[02:59] I don't drink any of those.

Speaker 1:
[03:01] Yeah. I heard somebody describe the flavor of a White Claw once. It tastes like somebody is watching static on a TV and screams the flavor from another room. I was like, that actually sounds about right.

Speaker 2:
[03:20] The fact that we understand that.

Speaker 1:
[03:22] Because that's exactly what it tastes like.

Speaker 2:
[03:24] Yeah. I've never tried half of those. I don't know that I even know the difference between them. I know a White Claw because they were one of the first ones to come out and I didn't like them. Now, all these new ones are coming out and I haven't tried them just because I was tainted because of-

Speaker 1:
[03:44] White Claw.

Speaker 2:
[03:44] I didn't like the first ones.

Speaker 1:
[03:46] Yeah, I understand that. I feel that I probably tasted a lot of them because I had a pool for a long time and I had canned stuff at the pool because when you give people beer bottles and pools, they break them. Kelly Hyland.

Speaker 2:
[04:01] I never did that.

Speaker 1:
[04:03] The first time Kelly ever came to my pool, she's standing there, what were you drinking? It was like a Heineken.

Speaker 2:
[04:08] Corona.

Speaker 1:
[04:08] Oh, Corona.

Speaker 2:
[04:09] And I put lime in them, right?

Speaker 1:
[04:11] Yes.

Speaker 2:
[04:12] Christi obviously does not know how to do it because she got a lime, it was like half a fucking lime and I'm trying to push it into the bottle and I'm pushing and I'm pushing and it was cold and slimy and wet so it just, when I pushed the lime, the glass just came straight out the bottom.

Speaker 1:
[04:30] And we were standing, I had a sun shelf in my pool, so it was very shallow, it only had like water up to your ankles. So like when the beer bottle hit the water, it didn't, like there wasn't, it hit the ground, it didn't just like hit water, it hit the ground. So this Corona smashed on the bottom of this pool, there was glass everywhere. Thank God Mark was out of town for the weekend. Could you imagine how much trouble I would have been in?

Speaker 2:
[04:56] He already hates me.

Speaker 1:
[04:57] I would have never been allowed to play with you again.

Speaker 2:
[05:01] Not that you ever were allowed.

Speaker 1:
[05:02] That's true, that is true. All right, well, I think we should get right into today's video because, or today's episode, is there's a lot and I have a lot of thoughts, feelings and emotions about this episode. It was a wild one. It really was. Did you watch it yesterday?

Speaker 2:
[05:26] I started to watch it yesterday, but I had so much going on yesterday. I wasn't really paying attention. So I rewatched it again.

Speaker 1:
[05:34] Okay, because I was going to say, I like watching it closer to when we record, but sometimes if we're traveling or something, I have to watch it ahead of time. By the time we record, I forget.

Speaker 2:
[05:43] I forget what it's about. You know me. Well, if you forget, imagine how much I forget. It's like I never watched it.

Speaker 1:
[05:52] I was trying to explain to someone, I'm like, every episode of Dance Moms is exactly the same. So we can't remember what the hell they're fighting about because it's all the same.

Speaker 2:
[06:02] Like if I watch two or three, by the time we come on to recap them, I have no idea which one.

Speaker 1:
[06:11] None. Zero. Absolutely none. This episode is titled, it's season five, episode 16, and it's called Video Killed the ALDC Star. Do you remember Video Killed the Radio Star on MTV?

Speaker 2:
[06:26] I was like, Video Killed the ALDC Star.

Speaker 1:
[06:30] We're showing our age, Kelly.

Speaker 2:
[06:32] I know.

Speaker 1:
[06:33] We're the same old bitches, 81. I was four, and you were what, nine? Are you five years older than me?

Speaker 2:
[06:42] Be quiet. I don't know. I'll be 55.

Speaker 1:
[06:45] Well, but I'm just saying we were old enough. I do remember, people are like, you don't remember when you were four. Yes, I do. I remember things that happened when I was two. If you think I'm making that up, you don't know me very well. Okay. So this episode of Dance Moms does something that Dance Moms doesn't normally do, and that starts with not being in pyramid. It does not start in pyramid. We actually start at Kendall's video shoot.

Speaker 2:
[07:17] Oh, yes.

Speaker 1:
[07:18] Yeah. We're not in pyramid.

Speaker 2:
[07:19] What are you talking about?

Speaker 1:
[07:21] Yeah. Which we actually, on the tour, oh, which by the way, I wanted to say, the second half of the tour is starting at the beginning of May, and I just texted you the list, so I don't know where my list is. So you want to share where we're going? If you haven't bought tickets yet, definitely.

Speaker 2:
[07:42] Okay, next we're going to Phoenix and then San Francisco, LA, Minneapolis, St. Louis, Houston, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Philadelphia, Denver, Seattle, and Portland. There's a lot of cities left to go to.

Speaker 1:
[08:02] Yes. So we have lots of people to meet. So if you haven't bought your tickets yet, you guys, it's fun.

Speaker 2:
[08:07] Yes.

Speaker 1:
[08:08] And I can't wait to see. We're all going to have fun. I can't wait to see the outfits that people show up in.

Speaker 2:
[08:16] Yeah, that's one of the funniest parts, I think.

Speaker 1:
[08:20] And everybody's so clever about it. You would think people would just show up like wearing an ALDC shirt.

Speaker 2:
[08:24] Yeah, people put a lot of effort into it.

Speaker 1:
[08:29] Which we love because we're a crafty bitch. We love effort. Okay, so the episode opens. So anyway, I was saying this episode is different. And that's one of the things we talk about on tour is there is some there's there's an underlying psychological reason why Dance Moms could be described as a comfort show. And that's that's and we talk about it on tour. And this episode doesn't do it. It's totally different. And I'm not going to get into it. That's something we say on stage. But if you want to know what that is, definitely come. So we open like in full Abby. She's like a music mogul, like in her brain, like in her mind, she's in she's in her music mogul delusion era right here because she's like, I am directing and not only is she directing a music video, but Abby is in like Abby fucking glory with all of these men. So she is like, listen, we're reenacting Top Gun. Are you guys ready for the volleyball scene? Go. I'm sick.

Speaker 2:
[09:38] Just the expressions she makes and like her body language makes me.

Speaker 1:
[09:43] You mean like this?

Speaker 2:
[09:46] Yes. Like me with a spoon.

Speaker 1:
[09:50] Look at her. That one guy on the right, he's like, oh God, why is she touching me? I did not sign off on that. He literally said that. He's like, I did not agree to this. No, no, no, but like she is loving life. I'm shocked that she's not wearing camo. Like why is she not matching?

Speaker 2:
[10:09] Yeah, you would think like even just her name and camo.

Speaker 1:
[10:13] Or even in that army green.

Speaker 2:
[10:15] Yeah.

Speaker 1:
[10:17] Did you see Tammy doing Kendall's makeup?

Speaker 2:
[10:19] I did.

Speaker 1:
[10:20] Yeah. So the little blonde doing Kendall's makeup was one of our makeup girls. There's a lot of behind the scenes Dance Moms people. I saw RJ, who was like a casting person from Dance Moms.

Speaker 2:
[10:30] I don't think I know him.

Speaker 1:
[10:32] I don't think he, you might have met him once. Like I think he came to set once. But honestly, we always had so many people in and out, like especially at lunchtime, we're like, I don't know. We were just trying to eat lunch and not sit on the floor.

Speaker 2:
[10:48] Yeah.

Speaker 1:
[10:49] So I saw him. But there was a lot of Dance Moms people, like crew that were shown being part of Kendall's music video shoot, which I think is a problem down later on what Jill is talking about. I'll point it out because I was like, oh, that's what she's talking about. So I don't know who is like living their best life more. Is it Abby because she's like in charge and rubbing men oddly or is it Jill? Like we're having a Jean Cream moment for both of them.

Speaker 2:
[11:25] Overall, yeah.

Speaker 1:
[11:27] Literally. This is literally both of their like cream. Wait, let me think how you want to say this. Their Jean Cream dream.

Speaker 2:
[11:36] Is that what we're calling this episode?

Speaker 1:
[11:40] I'm really able to say that out loud. Their Jean Cream dream.

Speaker 2:
[11:46] Let me throw up.

Speaker 1:
[11:48] It is. They're both like dream. Oh, God. Jill is just like a pig and shit. Abby is like rubbing men. I'm just disgusted. Abby says take that Holly. Seriously, this was her bed and now she has to lie in it. What she has done is taken Nia out of the group because they're talking about Nia is not here. They're whispering about her. She complains that Holly didn't even have the common decency to call Abby and turn down her managerial services. But later on, Nia is going to say, you're my manager. Melissa says she's her manager. Why is she turning it down when they're still like, aren't you her manager?

Speaker 2:
[12:31] Well, she's supposed to be for dance, correct?

Speaker 1:
[12:34] Yeah.

Speaker 2:
[12:36] People have different managers for their dance and their singing and their acting. You know what I mean?

Speaker 1:
[12:44] Yeah. But also, what's really wild is that Abby is offended that Holly doesn't want her managing Nia, because Abby cannot contain her excitement to talk about the battle between the music videos. She cannot contain it. Then yet, they're blaming Holly for turning it into a competition. Oh my God. I just have to say, Jill is so in her full glory, Kelly. She, in those sunglasses, in that hanger, truly. Then she's like, Kendall has 100 percent of Abby's attention right now. Nia could have had that too, but she chose to go with Aubrey O'Day. That was her choice.

Speaker 2:
[13:33] Well, then Jill, she says about, she told Holly to take it, Holly.

Speaker 1:
[13:41] Yeah. She's literally like, take that, Holly. So that doesn't seem very neighborly to me.

Speaker 2:
[13:47] Well, then Abby says that she took a cue from me and you.

Speaker 1:
[13:50] Yeah.

Speaker 2:
[13:52] Like, what a bitch.

Speaker 1:
[13:53] She learned how to be bad from us. Maybe Holly is just sticking up for herself now.

Speaker 2:
[13:59] Exactly.

Speaker 1:
[14:00] I think Holly always stuck up for herself, but maybe she just didn't have to make a choice whether or not she aligned with Abby and was the rebel because we were always too busy being the rebels.

Speaker 2:
[14:11] Yeah.

Speaker 1:
[14:12] Oh my God. Were we the problem? Were we the problem on the show, Kelly? No? I think we could have been, but I'm going to say no. We weren't the problem. We were fighting the good fight.

Speaker 2:
[14:26] Well, I say that because the trouble is still going on and we're both gone.

Speaker 1:
[14:35] That's true. She just has new targets.

Speaker 2:
[14:37] How was the trouble just us? Because now there's just trouble with other people.

Speaker 1:
[14:43] That's true. She just found somebody new to pick on.

Speaker 2:
[14:45] Yeah. But it's unfortunate that there has to be a competition between the two videos. Yeah.

Speaker 1:
[14:52] But Jill's like, you know what? I've got Abby on my side.

Speaker 2:
[14:57] That's why she did all this. Where Holly was looking out for the best, I don't know, for the best interest of the career. If Abby doesn't get you anywhere in dance, she doesn't get you anywhere in music.

Speaker 1:
[15:10] Exactly.

Speaker 2:
[15:11] Exactly doesn't have connections in music.

Speaker 1:
[15:14] Exactly. Exactly. Oh, you know what I forgot to do really quickly? I forgot to talk about this. We asked you guys last week on Patreon to tell us how you watched the show. Did you have traditions when you watched the show? Can I read a couple of them?

Speaker 2:
[15:36] Yes, I want to hear these.

Speaker 1:
[15:38] These are cute. I could have gone on and on and on reading these, but I didn't want to share too many, but they were really cute. Jay LaPlatte, I thought this was really interesting. I don't know if... I'll say they, because I'm not sure. Boy, girl, not sure. When it first aired, it was on on Wednesday nights. Yes, it was at 10 o'clock. We were on, I think, for two weeks at 10 o'clock. We were after that show, Roseanne's Nuts.

Speaker 2:
[16:05] Remember Roseanne and Abby got in that big argument that one time?

Speaker 1:
[16:08] On Twitter. That was the first time we were like, oh my God, a famous person knows who we are. Well, she didn't really know. She just knew that the other mean fat lady was taking her spot. That's what she was meant. She actually said that in her tweets. That's why I said it. She's like, I'm the fat bitch. What's this one doing?

Speaker 2:
[16:25] Yes.

Speaker 1:
[16:27] Oh my God. After we beat her in the ratings, they put Dance Moms on at nine on Wednesdays, and then they switched it to Tuesdays. This person goes on to say, the advanced team classes at my studio were Wednesdays, and I rushed home from dance class to watch very late at night. At that point, my family didn't have DVR, so if I got home late or fell asleep, oh well, they missed it. Is that weird?

Speaker 2:
[16:52] Yeah. How times have changed.

Speaker 1:
[16:56] Yeah. When Dance Moms changed to Tuesday, so did the advanced team senior classes. Coincidence? Maybe they were like, we're going to block this. That was their, oh my God, they clam jammed it.

Speaker 2:
[17:06] Yeah.

Speaker 1:
[17:07] They were claimed jamming Dance Moms. So by the middle of Season 2, we had DVR. That meant if I got home late or fell asleep, no biggie, I had the episode recorded. Regardless if I fell asleep or not, once I was able to record my show on Wednesdays when my youngest brother would go nap, my middle brother would snuggle on my lap and laugh anytime you moms or the unhinged dance teacher yelled. We lost my brother at 17 this past September.

Speaker 2:
[17:32] Oh, my God.

Speaker 1:
[17:33] Really sorry, that's very hard.

Speaker 2:
[17:36] Yeah.

Speaker 1:
[17:37] And then they went on to say, weirdly, it made me need to re-watch Dance Moms for the 82nd time. So I thought that was nice.

Speaker 2:
[17:45] Yeah.

Speaker 1:
[17:47] Then Nathan Sovrinsky, which Nathan, you have been all over the comments. I keep seeing your name pop up. So thanks for engaging over there. He said, every week I sat on my couch watching Dance Moms starting in third grade. For years, my brother mocked me, but now he's just as big of a fan of both Dance Moms and Back to the Barre as I am. Now as adults, when we're together, we're either listening to the podcast or laughing in an old episode of Dance Moms. Funny how the tables have turned.

Speaker 2:
[18:15] That's cool.

Speaker 1:
[18:16] I think Nathan and his brother were at one of our shows recently.

Speaker 2:
[18:19] Were they?

Speaker 1:
[18:20] I think so. Now, Audra said, my dad who originally found Dance Moms slipping through channels and being stopped by the absolute ridiculousness of Abby. I love that it's a dad. It quickly became our weekly ritual to watch together. Here we are, daughter and dad. Even after I joined the military and left home, we still watched the episodes and would have a phone call to discuss the next day. He passed away right before the podcast started, and I wish I could give him some of the behind the scenes. Looking back, maybe it was less about Dance Moms and more about spending time together, but I appreciate his enthusiasm for the show and the impressions of Abby he would do. Sorry, that caught me.

Speaker 2:
[19:02] Yeah.

Speaker 1:
[19:07] Melanie said, I binge all the Dance Moms while on maternity leave 10 years ago. In the UK, you get a lot more maternity leave than the US, so I was able to make it through all the episodes. Now, my daughter is a competitive dancer and we are rewatching together. Oh my God, this is hysterical. Tara said, I would have to secretly watch Dance Moms because my parents didn't like, are you ready? All of the quote, old ladies yelling about their Botox. When I got caught, I finally said, daddy, I don't care about their Botox. I just like the drama. Ellen went on to say, and Ellen said, I'm the same age as the girls, so it was always cool to grow up at the same time as them. I'm a dancer, but at the time, I was much more seriously training as a synchronized swimmer.

Speaker 2:
[19:55] Oh, cool.

Speaker 1:
[19:56] I know. That meant, I never remember watching Dance Moms without wet hair after practice, and I always took inspiration from the dancers when choreographing my own synchronized swimming solos. I would love to see that. And she also went on to say, I also remember Dance Moms inspired me to teach myself Alyssa Cohn turns at home, and it's a skill to this day. I'm so glad I have, and it got me actually on my university cheer team. Love you guys. And then LOL said, I saw the get your finger out of my face scene on social media, thought, hmm, this is unhinged, and binge seven seasons within a month. All during the last month of high school, I was reciting Dance Mom quotes on my AP Lit final. Yes, I love Brooke and her music so much. Believe it or not, Summer Love Song was my jam all of summer 2023. She needs to get back in the studio.

Speaker 2:
[20:48] No.

Speaker 1:
[20:49] I have to show you guys something. Are you ready? It's not just you who was the jam. Look at one of our...

Speaker 2:
[21:02] Oh, that's us.

Speaker 1:
[21:03] I know. Look at everybody singing Summer Love song.

Speaker 2:
[21:07] Yeah.

Speaker 1:
[21:08] Isn't that cute?

Speaker 2:
[21:09] Yeah, it was like we were at a concert.

Speaker 1:
[21:12] I know, but we just played a little clip of it. We use it as an intro to something. The whole crowd sings it.

Speaker 2:
[21:18] Yeah.

Speaker 1:
[21:19] And then Alice Reed said, you ladies were my COVID bitches and I was hooked.

Speaker 2:
[21:23] Oh.

Speaker 1:
[21:25] So many people watched during COVID. Yes. That's when we got it, we had a resurgence. So thank you for sharing that. I love that. And wait, I thought of a question I wanted to ask you guys, because I love reading those. I think that's one of my new favorite things that we're doing. It's like reading your comments.

Speaker 2:
[21:45] I do.

Speaker 1:
[21:46] So I know a question I had. I love that we hear so many people say that they met friends through Dance Moms.

Speaker 2:
[21:55] Yeah. I think we talked about that last week, about how people meet in line.

Speaker 1:
[22:01] I do. So I think we did need to ask that. But we'll ask it for next week, because I think I got it wrong somewhere. But have you made friends through Dance Moms? Like, did you meet somebody in college? Did you meet somebody in line? Did you meet somebody at Back to the Barre? Like, has Dance Moms made you a friend? Did you meet, I don't know, did you run a fan page together?

Speaker 2:
[22:23] Yeah. We heard a lot about that, like, people meeting in college and, like, getting together and having watch nights and stuff.

Speaker 1:
[22:30] Yep. Yep. I mean, well, I did that with friends. Like, those old show friends.

Speaker 2:
[22:37] Yeah.

Speaker 1:
[22:37] Yeah.

Speaker 2:
[22:38] I know a bunch of people who used to do it for The Bachelorette.

Speaker 1:
[22:42] Yeah.

Speaker 2:
[22:42] Oh, yeah. They were very popular for The Bachelorette.

Speaker 1:
[22:44] That's true. That is true. All right. So we're back to the episode. We just see scenes of them shooting the music video. Kendall is on the back of guys while they're doing push ups. And then we get that very uncomfortable moment of Abby, like throwing the water and he's doing jumping jacks. And I'm just like, jail immediately. Like if I were him, I'd be like, I'm pressing charges. Please get go. Stop. He did not. Did he get paid extra? I need to know. Like she got paid extra if we swore. Did he get paid extra for that shit? All right. So now we are in the studio and it's four days of competition and they're doing pyramid. I actually don't hate the girls outfits this pyramid.

Speaker 2:
[23:36] They were red with red top, black pants.

Speaker 1:
[23:38] Yeah.

Speaker 2:
[23:39] Yeah, I didn't mind those.

Speaker 1:
[23:41] Those were flattering. Those white things.

Speaker 2:
[23:43] I like that she's just having them wear the top and they can wear whatever they want on the bottom. So they're not like twins or what or whatever the hell they could be. Yeah. Get your own personality into it.

Speaker 1:
[23:58] Well, I hate to break it to you, but the bottoms are her bottoms because they have her star and her name on their asses.

Speaker 2:
[24:05] But I mean, at least they're all different.

Speaker 1:
[24:07] Yeah. There's pants and shorts. Yeah. Well, she just wants to sell two different versions. Let's be honest.

Speaker 2:
[24:11] Yeah.

Speaker 1:
[24:13] But it is better. They're better than those white camel toe things.

Speaker 2:
[24:16] They were terrible.

Speaker 1:
[24:18] Oh, my God. We talked about that in a live show. I think we said camel toe a lot, but that's fine. I mean, why would you make those children wear camel toe outfits on television?

Speaker 2:
[24:30] Jail.

Speaker 1:
[24:30] Especially white. For teenagers.

Speaker 2:
[24:35] Yeah.

Speaker 1:
[24:36] Again, jail immediately. You can tell she's not a mom of a teenager.

Speaker 2:
[24:40] I used to hate to wear just white jeans when I was like my time of the month.

Speaker 1:
[24:46] Yeah. Or when you're that age, you don't know, things aren't always that consistent. So you could have a breakthrough moment in a bad way wearing white.

Speaker 2:
[24:57] Yes. Oh, my God. Can you imagine how traumatizing that would be?

Speaker 1:
[25:00] No. They would run with it. The producers would be like, blood on the pants.

Speaker 2:
[25:04] Absolutely. That would be 100 percent be, that would be like the centerfold of the episode.

Speaker 1:
[25:13] Oh, yeah. We would have to have like a feminine hygiene lesson. The next dance, they'd all be like, there would be tampon props. It just maxi pads. Maxi would sing in the back. She would be singing the song. All right. So let's take a moment for the moms. Let's check out these outfits because there is one.

Speaker 2:
[25:37] What you know, this Joe have on light pink pants and a purple thing.

Speaker 1:
[25:46] You mean this, her Shush Hour Cat outfit? Yeah.

Speaker 2:
[25:52] I don't know. I don't like that. I would say that.

Speaker 1:
[25:55] It's giving QVC Easter Deal of the Day.

Speaker 2:
[26:00] Definitely the Easter Deal of the Day.

Speaker 1:
[26:03] That is.

Speaker 2:
[26:05] Hey, it was just Easter last week.

Speaker 1:
[26:07] Well, she picked that up on QVC. Act now. Act now. I thought everybody else looked fine.

Speaker 2:
[26:14] Yeah.

Speaker 1:
[26:15] Fine. That one was a choice. We're doing Pyramid now. Abby does tell them that this is their last week in LA. The other moms are all like, okay, we get to go home and see our family. I guarantee you Jess and Kira are like, we have to go back to the- what is the double tree in Monroeville outside of the mall because they put them up in that hotel.

Speaker 2:
[26:40] It's not there anymore.

Speaker 1:
[26:42] I know. End of an era.

Speaker 2:
[26:44] Wonder if they got infested with lice from the Dance Moms always filming. I had to shut down, man.

Speaker 1:
[26:53] They had a tentative. It didn't work. They're like, we're just going to close it. Just going to close it. Now, Abby, I guarantee you, forced against her will. Pyramid is three stacks instead of the normal 3, 2, 1. Somebody in production forced her to do it. You can tell by the way she delivers it. She's like, Jojo, you don't stand out in the group. Mackenzie, I'm dead. I will quote, Mackenzie, you haven't done too much here in LA and you realize that. She's 10. I'm sorry. Her Rolodex is slim. She doesn't have anybody to call. Manager.

Speaker 2:
[27:32] Why isn't Abby doing stuff for her?

Speaker 1:
[27:38] This would be right there if I were Holly, I would be like, look, you manage her, she's a major pop star according to you, and we were here for a week and you didn't get her shit.

Speaker 2:
[27:48] Now, she's moving on to Kendall. It's like she just goes from one to the next.

Speaker 1:
[27:56] Well, because she knows that whatever the first video is, it's going to make the most money, so she has to get that 10 percent across the board. That's what I think. Now, the middle row is Nia and Kalani, and Abby, this absolutely killed her to put Nia on the same level as Kalani. Because she's literally like, great work in the group. I felt you both stood out. She can't even say the words. I thought you both stood out.

Speaker 2:
[28:22] Nia looks like she's destroyed.

Speaker 1:
[28:25] Absolutely. Now, at the top, we have Kendall, and she's like, this is because of your music video shoot, but she hasn't shot it yet. She has now elevated herself to Maddie and Mackenzie's level. I thought we were always aspiring to Maddie's level, but now we're aspiring to be at Mackenzie's level. I didn't know.

Speaker 2:
[28:44] Yeah.

Speaker 1:
[28:45] I didn't. When did it become both of them? Is it because of the music video thing?

Speaker 2:
[28:50] Because Abby's our manager now on that.

Speaker 1:
[28:53] No, I know. She just wants 10 percent. She's like, Kendall, you are a star. Everybody tune in. I need my 10 percent. Then even though Kendall and Maddie are at the top together, we have to say Maddie last. Abby is subliminally letting everyone know Maddie is still the winner. Which to be fair, she did have the highest scoring solo. I would put her at the top regardless. Some of the other times that she's been at the top this season, I'm like, it has nothing to do with the show. Why are you doing that? But when Abby announces that Maddie will be performing at the Grammys, Maddie's face is literally like, can we fucking be done with Dance Moms yet?

Speaker 2:
[29:34] And Abby's creaming her jeans again. She's like, creaming her jeans. And I want to say, because that little girl got you there. She wouldn't be getting there without Maddie.

Speaker 1:
[29:45] Right. But she's going to say Maddie wouldn't have gotten to the Grammys without her. It's a chicken or the egg thing.

Speaker 2:
[29:51] But we didn't go to the Grammys for Dance Moms. Maddie went for Sia.

Speaker 1:
[29:57] Which she's going to tell us. I'm really lucky to be doing this. This is Maddie and she said, me and Sia are pretty much like family now. And I'm just like.

Speaker 2:
[30:15] That's my reaction.

Speaker 1:
[30:17] I'm like, wow. I just...

Speaker 2:
[30:22] How long have they known each other?

Speaker 1:
[30:24] That's exactly it. I think a couple of months.

Speaker 2:
[30:26] Okay. Because I was a little confused.

Speaker 1:
[30:30] I think around it's fast. That's why I made that face. We're like family now. And I think at some point, not now, but at some point, I don't know if it's official or just what they dubbed it, like Sia becomes Maddie's godmother. And then I know at some point when she's on tour and Melissa, she's on tour with Sia, Melissa's on the show. I don't know. So I'm saying this second-hand information. So if this is wrong, I am sorry. I don't know. But I feel as though someone had told us that Melissa had to sign over like parental permission to Sia in case Maddie needed something on the road, like she needed like a guardian.

Speaker 2:
[31:13] Let's see that though. Yeah. I had to do that once when I took one, I can't remember who, but we took one of my kids' friends on a vacation with us and they were underage. And I had to do that in case I had to take them to the hospital or something.

Speaker 1:
[31:31] Was it me? Oh no, it wasn't me. I didn't make you sign anything. I'm just like, take her.

Speaker 2:
[31:35] No, she didn't care. Just take her. But no, I had to sign paperwork so that if they had to go to the hospital or something, I could vouch as their adult guardian.

Speaker 1:
[31:47] Yeah. But I guess what I'm wondering, or what I would think, is that if my daughter is on tour and I'm not able to be there, I'm thinking I'm sending someone that I've known my whole life, or a family member, or somebody that I have a relationship with. That's just me though. I don't know.

Speaker 2:
[32:11] I mean, maybe Renee could have went.

Speaker 1:
[32:16] That's what I'm saying. You know what I mean?

Speaker 2:
[32:18] Yeah. I have no idea. Renee probably has other things to do in her life. But I don't know if maybe they tried.

Speaker 1:
[32:27] Yeah.

Speaker 2:
[32:28] I mean, I can't speak for that. I was not talking to them at this time of my life.

Speaker 1:
[32:33] Yeah. Agreed.

Speaker 2:
[32:34] So, I don't know. But you would think that I would not be comfortable with that.

Speaker 1:
[32:40] That's my point.

Speaker 2:
[32:41] That's another reason why Abby hated me was because, remember she used to say she's nine years old. She can go away with me. I'm like, no way. No.

Speaker 1:
[32:50] She's nine years old. She's not even double digits.

Speaker 2:
[32:53] She put her in a cab by herself in the middle of New York at age nine. Yeah.

Speaker 1:
[32:57] A hundred percent. Then if you said something, you're a weird overprotective mom. Remember the thing with Sarah and the bus because Christi wouldn't let her go on the bus. Now, I will say there's a whole group of people that she did know, but also Sarah was eight. I don't know if I disagree with Christi there, especially if Sarah felt uncomfortable and secretly said to her, I don't want to go without you, mom. I don't know. Anyway, we have assignments this week. We have four and this is not shown. Here's some behind the scenes tea that we're going to talk about. Mackenzie actually had a solo. Are you ready for the name? Disco Dude.

Speaker 2:
[33:35] That was from, they were like doing a portrayal of John Travolta from Saturday Night Fever.

Speaker 1:
[33:43] How many of those kids do you think were like, I know that white suit. They're like who?

Speaker 2:
[33:47] Yeah.

Speaker 1:
[33:47] They might have known him from Greece.

Speaker 2:
[33:49] Mine would know the Saturday Night Fever song, dance, but I don't think they would know the suit.

Speaker 1:
[33:54] Right. But I'm also thinking this is giving, I don't know, was this a Disco Bush tribute? To her mom?

Speaker 2:
[34:03] I think we should drink to that.

Speaker 1:
[34:04] I think we should too. Drink to the Disco Bush. Disco dude, I mean. Now Kendall has a solo, this is Major. I actually was making fun of this in my mind because I thought it was going to be a military thing, but no, she was like a band leader. But I hate when Abby's like, this is sassy, it's hot.

Speaker 2:
[34:26] I know. I don't think it was.

Speaker 1:
[34:30] I didn't think so at all.

Speaker 2:
[34:31] Yeah, it wasn't what I was expecting.

Speaker 1:
[34:34] Fast.

Speaker 2:
[34:35] Yeah.

Speaker 1:
[34:36] And here's what I'm going to say, 100% without a doubt in my mind, how they fucked with you in season one by giving you bad costumes, they fuck with Kendall with props. It is written into the productions, like how to fuck with people notes. They're like Kendall, large prop, it gets bigger every week.

Speaker 2:
[34:53] Now, let me ask you this because I know how Abby used to do things like with costuming and things like that, like how she would put wide-legged pants on you if you have bad knees, or like a long skirt, or if somebody has on a unitard, you know they have good legs and feet.

Speaker 1:
[35:17] Correct. Yes.

Speaker 2:
[35:18] If they have baggy pants on, you know, they don't. Like she had different things like that. Do you think that this was one of those?

Speaker 1:
[35:27] What do you mean?

Speaker 2:
[35:28] The top thing? Like maybe Kendall had bad arms, she didn't like Kendall's arms, so she would give her something to have in her hands to distract you from her arms. Like how the pants distracted their feet.

Speaker 1:
[35:46] Maybe, maybe. I also think it's production just being like, you are going to have to dance with a giant prop because it's fun for us. I do. I do. All right. So now Jojo has a solo, it's called Straighten Up. And she's like, there's all this back and forth, and she's really excited because she figures out that she's going to be wearing a straight jacket and she's like jumping around with her arms.

Speaker 2:
[36:12] Abby is like, calm down.

Speaker 1:
[36:13] And she's like giving her this look. She's like, all right, kid, back it up. Like she's super uncomfortable. But I don't know.

Speaker 2:
[36:22] I thought it was kind of funny that, because you know she makes the solos about something.

Speaker 1:
[36:34] Yes.

Speaker 2:
[36:34] I just thought that was kind of funny. She was like, let's put her in a straight jacket.

Speaker 1:
[36:39] That is funny, but I'm so shocked.

Speaker 2:
[36:43] And it's offensive.

Speaker 1:
[36:45] Yes. But here's what I'm really shocked that you didn't pick up on. I don't think that solo was meant for JoJo.

Speaker 2:
[36:53] Did you think it was for Brad?

Speaker 1:
[36:54] No. I think that it was supposed to be clonny, like to show off her legs and feet without being distracted by her arms. And it's weird. It's unusual.

Speaker 2:
[37:06] When I was watching it, I thought it would have been a cold brook solo.

Speaker 1:
[37:11] Yep.

Speaker 2:
[37:11] Clonny does the kind of stuff that brooks does. So, yeah.

Speaker 1:
[37:15] Absolutely. And I think you are 100% right. And I think she's pissed that they made JoJo do it. So then she had to turn it into like a dig. And I think if brook would have been there, it would have been like a cool brook thing.

Speaker 2:
[37:29] Yeah. I think it would have been neat if they were like doing contortion and got out of the, you know what I mean? Like they were all this and then she contorted and then get out of the.

Speaker 1:
[37:42] Yeah.

Speaker 2:
[37:43] That would have been really cool.

Speaker 1:
[37:45] Do you remember? Go ahead.

Speaker 2:
[37:49] Never. I'm going to save it till we see the dance. The other thing I want to say.

Speaker 1:
[37:52] Well, do you remember that would have been very cool, contorting and like getting out of it. But Abby, do you remember it was Paige and Chloe's first recital. So maybe like brook's third. You remember how she always did the big production dance right before intermission. It was like Ali Meikster and Corey Krakowski and all those like Ashley, like those amazing girls. They had this huge group number that was tap and it was to Billy Joel's pressure and they were all in straight jackets. Do you remember that?

Speaker 2:
[38:22] I do remember that.

Speaker 1:
[38:23] It was amazing. I don't know if Abby choreographed it, because she did normally do like a tap number.

Speaker 2:
[38:28] Abby, I don't think ever choreographed the tap number, but it could have been her idea and her theatrical part of it, but she didn't teach the feet.

Speaker 1:
[38:39] No, but that's one of those numbers that a straight jacket was amazing because it was all about their feet.

Speaker 2:
[38:45] Yeah.

Speaker 1:
[38:45] And they all had crazy hair and stuff just like JoJo did. So I was like, oh, this is an Abby number.

Speaker 2:
[38:50] I thought JoJo's makeup and stuff looked great.

Speaker 1:
[38:54] I did too. I did too.

Speaker 2:
[38:56] Okay, so we'll talk about that when we're done for.

Speaker 1:
[39:00] Yeah, we're way ahead of it. So the group is called Platinum and she's like, perhaps Kendall's song will go platinum. And all this time, I'm feeling really badly for Holly and Nia because they have to see on there and take it. They're like, we're literally doing the same thing and we're going to only talk about one child while you're literally just like kicked you're disregarded completely.

Speaker 2:
[39:22] I was so proud of Nia in this whole episode.

Speaker 1:
[39:25] Oh, yeah.

Speaker 2:
[39:27] The way she handled everything in this episode.

Speaker 1:
[39:30] Absolutely.

Speaker 2:
[39:31] And Holly, because if I was Holly, I think I'd beat the shit out of her.

Speaker 1:
[39:36] Oh, I can't wait to talk about that. But in our interview, Holly's like, I'm happy for Kendall, but Nia's also recorded a song. And I just for once, I wish for once Abby would support her for Nia. But Holly, she is physically incapable of doing that, because she is Ursula. Like she steals talent from children. She cannot celebrate a child unless it benefits her.

Speaker 2:
[40:04] Exactly. And this is a prime example. Yep.

Speaker 1:
[40:09] And then, oh, go ahead.

Speaker 2:
[40:11] No, I was just, it's a prime example. She's happy for one who she's doing, and the one she isn't, she doesn't want, she won't even talk about it.

Speaker 1:
[40:20] Well, it's not even that she won't talk about it. It's almost like she's trying to figure out ways to sabotage it.

Speaker 2:
[40:27] Yeah.

Speaker 1:
[40:29] So-

Speaker 2:
[40:29] And she does that to, your dance manager is trying to sabotage you.

Speaker 1:
[40:38] These are my eyeballs, because there's a part, a conversation that's coming up that I have really interesting notes about that I think it's going to be like, oh, wow. Well, at least in my mind it is. Okay. So now we hear that we're going to Dance Kids USA and that kids will be judging. And here we go. Abby's like, this week, we really have to impress the judges because they're kids and kids can be cool. So can dance teacher. I'm like, well, thankfully, the children are used to cruel and unusual people in their lives. So we're good.

Speaker 2:
[41:13] Abby knows that kids can be cruel because I think kids might have been mean to her growing up.

Speaker 1:
[41:18] Oh, well, Kurt, Melissa's ex went to high school with her. And didn't he used to say that there were people in the back of the room that would like set her hair on fire?

Speaker 2:
[41:29] Yeah, I don't think people were mean to her growing up.

Speaker 1:
[41:32] No, they weren't nice.

Speaker 2:
[41:33] They weren't nice to her growing up.

Speaker 1:
[41:35] Yeah, which, I mean, that does make me feel bad to say, like, the setting the hair on fire. And I also have questions. Like, why do we have lighters in high school? But that's, you know, 80s, different time. But that makes me feel bad for Abby. But then also, let's not turn it around and now take it out on children who you're supposed to be nurturing.

Speaker 2:
[41:54] Yeah.

Speaker 1:
[41:57] Go ahead.

Speaker 2:
[41:58] I was just gonna go on with the field notes.

Speaker 1:
[42:00] Yeah.

Speaker 2:
[42:01] Okay. So Abby makes another announcement and she says that they will be traveling home to Pittsburgh for the break. And but instead of traveling back to Australia, that's where Abby is doing her like launching of her own competition. You know if that ever came about?

Speaker 1:
[42:20] Well, I think there's gonna be some tea coming up because there was a guy, because I had a guy in Australia who was like my friend. We became friends with him because he brought Chloe and I there for something. And he actually during this time sent me a bunch of media because like the biggest competition in Australia basically got together with all of these other dance competitions in Australia and banned her from coming there. Like to have a competition. Like they took major action. I don't know what everything is. So when we get to Australia, hopefully I will have that research. But I don't think it ever happened because they put a stop to it. They were like, we do not want her here in any way, shape or form. Now, they also didn't want their businesses to suffer, I'm sure. But they also didn't want her representing dance, which I think is really interesting that they do not want her representing dance. Can't imagine why.

Speaker 2:
[43:19] Yeah. But now Holly is hesitant about Nia being invited. And Abby is like, no, I expect all the girls to be there.

Speaker 1:
[43:28] Now, mind you, she says that because we're going to get into a big thing behind the scenes with Jess coming up this episode that we'll talk about. So moms go out and they're sitting in this weird space. I cannot get over that weird TV thing. Like them watching the girls on that screen. It was so bizarre.

Speaker 2:
[43:50] Yeah, it's just right on top of them.

Speaker 1:
[43:56] I think too, I would like to ask somebody in production, because all they did is take the scene and put it on the screen. You didn't see the moms watching the kids because there would have probably been a continuity issue with what they were talking about, what was being shown. So it also looks kind of like photoshopped, that they took whatever scene was on Dance Moms and put it on the screen that the moms on Dance Moms are watching. So it's like, what is happening?

Speaker 2:
[44:23] Yeah. Yeah.

Speaker 1:
[44:26] So Abby's like, we're doing this Platinum Dance, and do you know what it takes for a record to go Platinum? I guarantee you.

Speaker 2:
[44:35] Production told her how many.

Speaker 1:
[44:37] Uh-huh.

Speaker 2:
[44:38] She did not know. Yeah.

Speaker 1:
[44:41] She didn't know. And she probably picked on Maddie about Chandelier, because I'm sure Chandelier was like quadruple, triple, whatever, platinum. And Maddie literally in the screen or in the scene was like, well, I don't know.

Speaker 2:
[44:52] Well, she right away was like, I have no idea. Right.

Speaker 1:
[44:56] But I would guess Abby was probably, she probably said something like, smart to Maddie in that moment. Like you are in a video for like a platinum.

Speaker 2:
[45:08] Although, you know, I don't know because I think if Abby would have said something smart like that to Maddie, I think they would have put that in there. Because very rarely did Abby say anything. And I think, I think they would have shown that.

Speaker 1:
[45:23] We're looking forward.

Speaker 2:
[45:23] I keep moving. My back is killing me.

Speaker 1:
[45:29] You're probably right. Yeah, you're probably right. Okay, so the moms are out watching and Jill's like, I think I'm her new BFF.

Speaker 2:
[45:44] And she's excited about that.

Speaker 1:
[45:46] I know.

Speaker 2:
[45:46] I'm thinking to myself, Jill, watch what you wish for.

Speaker 1:
[45:53] And Holly's like, oh, I guess I'll sit here. You know, production like took away a seat, like musical chairs and was like, the only one that's open is next to Jill, go sit there. She's like, I don't want to.

Speaker 2:
[46:02] It was very obvious she did not want to sit there.

Speaker 1:
[46:05] She goes, oh, I guess this is where I'm sitting today. And she probably turned around. She's like, thanks, production. But Jill's like, okay, now are you ready for the thing that sent me over the edge? Melissa?

Speaker 2:
[46:19] Her saying, oh good, now you can pop her pimples.

Speaker 1:
[46:22] Kelly.

Speaker 2:
[46:26] As the most disgusting thing ever.

Speaker 1:
[46:29] Now, shall we tell the like the people listening at home, why Melissa is saying this? Because that was her job.

Speaker 2:
[46:41] Oh, I know.

Speaker 1:
[46:43] And she's like, well, now you will see it. Girl, you did not have to agree to that.

Speaker 2:
[46:47] Okay. Although I do have to say, I think I remember her popping a few on you a few times.

Speaker 1:
[46:53] She's like that. Remember that thing on Jill's back? She was after that thing for years. Jill had like a cyst.

Speaker 2:
[47:00] Yeah. And nobody's touching mine. Thank you.

Speaker 1:
[47:02] We would be in the airport and she would be like walking behind somebody. And look, we truly, just she would do it and I didn't even react to it. But-

Speaker 2:
[47:12] This is gross.

Speaker 1:
[47:13] Yeah. All right. So now Jill's like, Well, I really hope things go well for a DS video shoot. And Holly's like talking about the styling and the wardrobe. Okay. Now here's where I'm having a real issue. Like you get in trouble for reading field notes. I have no idea. I read read the same as Mikey. Apparently, it's not Mikey. It's Maiki. Maiki. It's spelled out for me. I guess he's Maiki. So Maiki, the director, has a fitting for Nia later that day. Holly's talking about like the hair and the makeup, which I have to say, I thought Nia's hair and makeup in the music video was amazing. So I was making fun of those people earlier. I'm like, they probably never did it. Oh no, I stand corrected.

Speaker 2:
[48:04] You looked great.

Speaker 1:
[48:06] Oh my God. Yes.

Speaker 2:
[48:09] We'll talk about that when she comes out.

Speaker 1:
[48:11] Yeah. So the moms are like, yeah.

Speaker 2:
[48:15] Well, they all looked disgusted. That Holly's talking about it.

Speaker 1:
[48:20] And Jill goes, yeah, fun. And Melissa's face, she is disgusted the whole time.

Speaker 2:
[48:25] They are, which is so mean. They would never like that.

Speaker 1:
[48:30] No.

Speaker 2:
[48:31] Like when we were on, I felt like when the kids got things, the moms were generally happy for all the kids. I mean, we got annoyed because Maddie got mostly everything.

Speaker 1:
[48:46] But to Maddie's face, not what you saw edited, but in real life, our interactions with her, we supported her. They didn't show you that on the show. They would make it seem like that we were mean to her face. That was not the case. I cannot tell you how many times we would say to her, Maddie, I know it seems like this, but we're talking about it with production or storylines. We're very happy for you. You deserve it. Congratulations. You're amazing. Those are real conversations I think every single one of us had with her at different times about different things.

Speaker 2:
[49:18] Yeah. It doesn't seem like they're having that discussion with Nia though.

Speaker 1:
[49:22] No. In her interview, Jill's like, all I'm hearing are the names that Holly is dropping. She says, the entire community is coming together to help Nia with her music video. Abby doesn't have those names right now and you have to shove it in my face. Let me translate for you. What she is saying is that the entire production team is coming together to get Nia good people, and she is stuck with the same people who filmed Dance Moms. That's what she's saying. When she's like, the entire community is coming together, she's like, they're putting all of their resources out there and giving it all to Nia when I get the Dance Moms makeup artist.

Speaker 2:
[50:03] But that was also her decision to go with Abby. She wouldn't stand up to Abby. Holly is putting up with Abby torturing her and Nia right now because she stood up for what she believed in to go with somebody else. Jill said, I'm going to take the easy way out, kiss Abby's ass to get her ahead and dance, and hopefully she gets to somewhere with singing.

Speaker 1:
[50:32] I'm going to trust her to make a great music video because you're making a deal with the devil.

Speaker 2:
[50:38] Yeah.

Speaker 1:
[50:40] She's hoping that by doing the one thing less, she's going to get more.

Speaker 2:
[50:44] Yeah.

Speaker 1:
[50:45] I don't want to dance with that devil. Which speaking of, I cannot wait to film the mini episode this week because there's actually something I have to talk to you about and it's called Dance with the Devil.

Speaker 2:
[50:56] Oh.

Speaker 1:
[50:57] Yeah. So tune. Well, by the time this comes out, because this comes out on Monday and the mini will come out on Friday, you guys will know exactly what I'm talking about. So if you missed that mini episode, go back and listen to it because we're going to talk about Dancing with the Devil.

Speaker 2:
[51:10] Okay.

Speaker 1:
[51:11] All right. So some field notes.

Speaker 2:
[51:13] So Maddie and Nia are both missing from rehearsals this week. And the moms are very worried. Now, I don't understand why it's a big deal because Nia is going to be gone. Maddie is gone all the time. You know, nobody seems to care. But Jill reminds Holly how Abby expressed interest in Nia's music video. And it was at the end of the competition. And Holly explains that she's more than happy. Oh, my God.

Speaker 1:
[51:48] Yeah, she's saying, like, we can come. So keep that in mind because she said what Jill is saying right there is Abby said, I want to come to Nia's music video shoot. This is important because we're going to see this conversation with Nia and Holly. Or I'm sorry, Nia and Abby in a minute. Abby is the one who said it. And Holly's like, she can come. The Frasers are not being Hatcher Frasier for Holly, but they're not being combative right here. But she does say she does understand Abby's goal.

Speaker 2:
[52:23] Well, she makes it very clear that she wants Kendall's video to be better than Nia's.

Speaker 1:
[52:31] Please read this sentence in the field notes because we have a scene that didn't make air that I would sell my soul for the footage of, and I don't think it's in the bonus content.

Speaker 2:
[52:44] Okay. So Melissa and Jill discuss potential ideas for tattoos that they are planning on getting. Did they ever get them?

Speaker 1:
[52:55] Apparently, in this episode, I cannot wait to discuss it.

Speaker 2:
[52:59] Where are they?

Speaker 1:
[53:00] I don't know.

Speaker 2:
[53:02] Oh my God. We should tell Melissa to send us a picture.

Speaker 1:
[53:04] This is where we're going to have to hire the private detective. Oh, text him in the Pillow Talk Group chat. Be like, did you guys get tattoos on camera? What were they? I got to know.

Speaker 2:
[53:13] Okay. I'm going to text him right now.

Speaker 1:
[53:16] All right. While you're texting, I'm just going to say the other field note is Gianna is just rehearsing because Abby couldn't care less. She's on her phone, and she's even taking calls about a clothing line while the kids are rehearsing.

Speaker 2:
[53:26] Oh, my God. Do you see it? She's not even paying attention to rehearsing because she's moving on to something else to make money on.

Speaker 1:
[53:37] Yeah. In her interview, Abby's like, I've been saving this routine for our final week here in LA. Little did I know that children will be judging the girls and blah, blah, blah. The only thing I will have to say is, I noticed in this scene when the girls were rehearsing, they really look old, like teenagers. I think we have seen them grow, but all of them. I was looking at them. It's so weird how you see them all of a sudden from one week to the other. They all looked so much more mature.

Speaker 2:
[54:09] How about Nia in the video?

Speaker 1:
[54:12] Well, yes, we will get there.

Speaker 2:
[54:13] She looks very mature. Sometimes I think Nia looks young, but there she didn't. Even Mackenzie looked old. Why wasn't Mackenzie dancing this week?

Speaker 1:
[54:27] I'll tell you why. It's all in here. Now, Mackenzie did dance this week. She had a solo, remember? Disco Bush. But because they don't show that, the part where she tells Mackenzie, she's going to, in Pyramid, where she's like, you're just sitting it out this week. You're not feeling well. That's all a pickup. If you notice, they don't show Abby saying it. You only hear the voiceover. So it was probably a wild line that they read and like inserted when they had the camera on the girls. The girls go out and take a drink. Take a drink too, if you'd like to drink. Now Nia, she stays at behind and she's going to talk to Abby about her music video shoot. She goes over to her and she's like, I really want you to be there. Now you would think if a child came to you and was like, I really want you to be there. I don't know how this woman could look at this kid and say these words to her. And Abby's kind of like just so indignant. She's like, well, you should have wanted me at the meeting and the recording of your song. I'm your manager. She literally says, I'm your manager. So we know she's still her manager, but you just flushed it all down the toilet like it was nothing. And then Nia's like, well, I just think it's a difference of opinion. She's so her mother's daughter in this moment.

Speaker 2:
[55:46] I know. And I'm so glad. And that girl sat there and stared her in the face as she was saying these things to her.

Speaker 1:
[55:54] And that's what it's supposed to do to Abby. Yes, it is. And Abby goes, no, there's a right and a wrong. No, there's not, Abby. Nothing in life is black and white. Things are nuanced and they're gray, but she just wants to be like, I'm right, you're wrong. I'm good, you're bad. Nia missed a prime opportunity to say, well, you're entitled to your wrong opinion.

Speaker 2:
[56:14] I know.

Speaker 1:
[56:16] But China does say that. Yep. And then Abby's like, that's called selling out. You took the first opportunity that came to you. Well, Abby is the first one to say that you have to jump on an opportunity when it presents itself.

Speaker 2:
[56:31] But I love how Nia is like, well, other people don't think that.

Speaker 1:
[56:37] And then Abby's like, every other kid thinks that. How dare you put words in those kids' mouths?

Speaker 2:
[56:43] Yeah. Yeah.

Speaker 1:
[56:44] And it's kind of like one of those things.

Speaker 2:
[56:47] So smug there. She's kind of like, really? You think so? Like, I don't know if I went and asked my friends if they would feel that they agreed with you.

Speaker 1:
[56:58] Oh, I think Abby looks smug because she's like, gotcha. Like, she's mean to her.

Speaker 2:
[57:04] Oh, you think? I thought Nia gave her a smug look back.

Speaker 1:
[57:09] Oh, yeah. I definitely don't think Nia was like a shrinking violet here by any stretch. But I just think Abby thinks she won that.

Speaker 2:
[57:19] Oh, I don't. I think Nia did. Oh, no.

Speaker 1:
[57:22] I don't. I totally think Nia won.

Speaker 2:
[57:24] Oh, okay.

Speaker 1:
[57:25] I think Abby thinks she won, which is delusion and grandeur or whatever it's called. So Holly is watching this and she is really upset. She's like, she's getting in her head and she's like, I know that woman is up to no good. And that's the reason why Abby is not in charge of Nia's music. And she goes on and she's like, she she's pumping one kid up to tear another down, get in her head and everything she was saying. I was thinking you could literally take out Kendall and Nia and music video and put in from season two, Chloe and Maddie solos. Like she'd pump one kid up, she get in the other one's head. Or I'm sure she did it to other kids at other times. But for me specifically, I was thinking of season two. And that is one of the reasons why I said, when we were talking about her being a manager, you don't give her that control. She had that control in dance because she was in charge of the choreography that those kids were allowed to compete on TV, which is why behind the scenes, we fought all the time and we kept saying, hire a choreographer that's working for the show.

Speaker 2:
[58:30] That's neutral.

Speaker 1:
[58:31] Yes. And I do agree with you that Abby knew the girls, but had they hired somebody like a Gianna that was behind the scenes for years, they would have learned our kids in a couple of months. And then maybe at the beginning, it wouldn't be fair.

Speaker 2:
[58:48] Yeah, I just mean on a one-time-

Speaker 1:
[58:50] Oh yeah, no.

Speaker 2:
[58:51] Pieces coming in, they don't know what you can do. After a few classes even, they will be able to pick up on your style. Yeah.

Speaker 1:
[59:02] So Holly is getting, and by the way, all the moms are agreeing with Holly in the scene. Keep that in mind. So Holly gets her things and she's leaving, and she's like, Abby's a disgrace and a witch. She wanted to say bitch so bad, Holly. Just let it go. Just say it bitch, just say it. So she walks out of the room, she slams the door and the moms are stunned. Melissa's like, oh, she makes some reaction.

Speaker 2:
[59:25] I don't know why they're so stunned at that. Why would Holly stay in a room with not one person backing her up?

Speaker 1:
[59:34] I don't know, Kelly, because they keep kicking you back in the ring on Dance Moms. Get in there, get in there. We were never really allowed to leave. So in the hallway, Nia and Holly are talking, and I think Nia is like, no, I'm good. Holly was like, oh, wow, okay. You need to fight with her.

Speaker 2:
[59:49] Let me go after her.

Speaker 1:
[59:50] Let me go after her. No, no, no, no, no.

Speaker 2:
[59:52] He's like, no, Mom, you're turning into Christi and Kelly.

Speaker 1:
[59:56] And they're no good. They're not here anymore. We want to be on the team. And she's just like, that's her opinion. I have a different one. And Holly's like, okay, then. And she says, I'm shocked that Nia is so calm and collected because I'm definitely not. Oh, in this interview, Holly looks amazing. She has that purple lace sweater on and her hair is curled. And then she said, I need to take my cues from Nia and not just let Abby's childishness get the best of me.

Speaker 2:
[60:23] Isn't that terrible? We all should take cues from our children. They behave way better than us.

Speaker 1:
[60:30] Oh, yeah, for sure. Okay, so now we're at three days of competition and we have this, Juzi, you ready? Hold on. What, what, what, what, what?

Speaker 2:
[60:41] Yeah, okay, it's a three quarter length with a short sleeve over top.

Speaker 1:
[60:45] Yeah, but also with lace that, you know what? It looks, remember fruit striped gum, fruit striped gum? It looks like strip, Jesus Christ, fruit striped gum.

Speaker 2:
[60:56] I used to like fruit striped gum, but it only kept its flavor for about three seconds. Three chews and you were able to spit it out.

Speaker 1:
[61:03] Yeah, that's how I thought about Big League Chew. I loved Big League Chew. Because you could put a big wad in your mouth, and it was so sugary. I loved it. Okay. Oh my God, Kelly. We're three days of competition and Kendall is doing her rehearsal for This Is Major. The wildest moment in Dance Moms history is about to occur. Literally the wildest moment ever. Everybody get ready. Just drink because I can't believe this has happened.

Speaker 2:
[61:42] What is it?

Speaker 1:
[61:42] Abby got off the cheese mat and danced. Look at her. She's up. She literally pot of a wrench.

Speaker 2:
[61:51] She actually knew what she was doing. She was doing the right feetwork.

Speaker 1:
[61:56] I know. However, we're going to leave that wild moment of celebration and we're going to cut to this.

Speaker 2:
[62:06] The licking of the lips.

Speaker 1:
[62:08] Kelly.

Speaker 2:
[62:10] Who was dancing at that moment? Look at her.

Speaker 1:
[62:19] She's like, I was nauseated. Like, did she forget she was on TV? I think that's a very aggressive tongue action. Like I have to scroll up. I can't watch it. It's on loop and it's gagging me. All right.

Speaker 2:
[62:43] So Jill's fruit stripe. I'm going to eat my teaberry gum. Remember we bought the other day?

Speaker 1:
[62:49] Oh, yeah. We went to Cracker Barrel and then we were like, why didn't we eat anything good today? Because we were at Cracker Barrel. Not that Cracker Barrel is bad. It's just fine. Were we in Texas? Yeah. Why don't we go somewhere better in Texas?

Speaker 2:
[63:04] We had no time.

Speaker 1:
[63:05] That's true. All right. So in her interview, Jill's like, Abby has a vested interest more than ever in Kendall. You know what? It might be hard on the child, but she's got to step it up a notch. You know, I actually support Jill saying that Kendall needs to step it up. You know? I do. Abby tells Kendall in the end of her solo, she's like, your solo is called This Is Major. Right now, you're not even minor. You have to win. But I was very perplexed at Abby's hair this entire scene. Was she out the night before? Did she not have time and glam? I think she had a rough night, honestly, or maybe a fun night. I don't know. She needed a nap and a hairbrush. Okay, so now we get to see Nia's music video shoot, and Holly is so excited when she comes in, and she's like, oh my God. She's so funny.

Speaker 2:
[64:01] This is why you don't have a mother.

Speaker 1:
[64:04] Literally all of us. Holly is every mother on the planet in that moment. She's taking pictures, and she's like, Nia, smile.

Speaker 2:
[64:11] No, you hate it.

Speaker 1:
[64:12] Just smile one more. Can I get? Nia is like, God. Because let's not forget at the time, Nia is 13, which is like the worst time to have to be with your mother 24-7. And these girls are on Dance Moms with their mothers 24-7, and then their moms are doing shit like this on national television. And you have to be like, I love my mom. And you're like, oh, god. And we see Holly, she's like, I can't even believe this is happening. She's like, Katy Perry's hairstylist, Janet Jackson makeup artist are working on Nia right now. And then she's like, even the famous Kiss Boys are here. Who are the Kiss Boys? Never in my life. I don't know. But apparently, they're famous. We just don't know.

Speaker 2:
[64:52] I have no idea who they are.

Speaker 1:
[64:54] Yep. So we see Nia come in the green room. Holly and Mahiki, I think, they're watching about Nia's finished look. And honestly, she looks amazing.

Speaker 2:
[65:07] Oh my gosh.

Speaker 1:
[65:08] This is when her hair is crimped, right? Her hair is crimped first. Yeah, her makeup is so stunning. It's truly I love her hair when it's all blown out, when it's like blowing in the wind.

Speaker 2:
[65:20] That's when I liked it too.

Speaker 1:
[65:21] Oh my God. And he's like, listen, we need to document this whole thing on social media. And he's like, those other girls are going to die. Now, let me ask you a question. I originally put in my notes, production told him to say that, because they obviously want a war going on with social media, which they're going to get. But then I thought about it and I was like, you know what? At this point, the girls are very, very, very big on social media, millions of followers. So then I'm thinking, I wonder if he really just wanted her to post because he wanted the following. If it had nothing to do with production, because I originally was like, oh, production made it, say it. And then I'm like, maybe that was him, like, oh, you definitely need to post this and tag me and everything. Hashtag mahiki.com, director.

Speaker 2:
[66:14] I don't know.

Speaker 1:
[66:18] So then Aubrey O'Day arrives with those flowers.

Speaker 2:
[66:21] They were cool.

Speaker 1:
[66:22] Yep. And Nia in her interview is like, my favorite part about working with Aubrey is that she never gives up on me. She's like, it's refreshing that everybody's supportive of me, which is a really sad thing to hear.

Speaker 2:
[66:32] Yes. That's supposed to be supportive of you.

Speaker 1:
[66:37] Yeah. Yeah. So then Holly is talking to Aubrey and they're talking about just how nasty Abby is. And Aubrey is like, I can't stand her. And Holly is like, oh my God, really? And all I kept thinking is remember when they first met Aubrey O'Day and they kept talking about how Abby was like P-Diddy. And I'm like, oh, that didn't age very well, did it?

Speaker 2:
[67:03] No, not at all. I don't think we're going to be associated with that.

Speaker 1:
[67:08] No, or compared or in the same time.

Speaker 2:
[67:10] How do they know Aubrey?

Speaker 1:
[67:14] Well, the show brought her in. But they said that it was Abby's contact, but it was probably somebody in production knew her. I don't think they ever really said how.

Speaker 2:
[67:26] I was surprised that she said that.

Speaker 1:
[67:29] I'm not. I was until I remember that Abby called her and said, I'll give you 10 grand not to work with Nia. Because remember, Aubrey is the one who got that phone call. We just don't see it on the show. So Aubrey knows that she's like that. And then she says, after being involved in this situation, seeing her true colors, I'm starting to think that this is how she feeds her soul, meaning she has a dark soul. And she said, I can't wait to check her. And she goes on and she's saying, like, you know, you need to watch yourself in this city because it's a small town, which Abby tells our kids all the time, and your reputation could ruin you.

Speaker 2:
[68:08] Yeah, absolutely. Which I think it has a lot of times.

Speaker 1:
[68:15] Yeah. And in her interview, Holly's like, I can't disagree with Aubrey's change of heart about Abby. And she says, it goes to show if Abby continues with her nasty behavior, she's going to make some enemies in the music industry, which is just code for in LA. She's going to make enemies. Oh, God.

Speaker 2:
[68:33] She doesn't have any connections anyways.

Speaker 1:
[68:37] No, but people won't take her call. Right.

Speaker 2:
[68:40] So before Abby can even begin the day, Melissa shares a social media post from Nia's video, making everyone blind with jealousy.

Speaker 1:
[68:52] They literally couldn't see straight.

Speaker 2:
[68:57] So then they discovered that Todrick has shown up at Nia's music video to make up for all that shit that happened last week with him. Yeah.

Speaker 1:
[69:08] But where was Todrick when Chloe got excluded and he called me and said, hey, I know everyone in the studios in the music video and I can't put Chloe in it, but I like her, she's a good kid. Then we're in LA, they all go hang out with her and she's sitting at the hotel by herself. He certainly wasn't calling me. And he had my number because he had texted me when he wanted some posts and stuff.

Speaker 2:
[69:34] Yeah. So Abby brushes it off and she's just like, who cares? We don't need his elementary choreography anyways for Kendall's video. It wouldn't fit with her video. She was so aggravated that he was there. She just didn't know what the hell to say.

Speaker 1:
[69:56] So she has to rip on him. So now Melissa's like, here are 22 pictures that Holly posted to social media. Now keep in mind that is before you could do a carousel. So her grid was probably like one, two, three, four, five, like a whole whatever. So it probably did seem kind of crazy to post, but you know what? Whatever. Now, okay, this whole thing with Abby and what she's saying when she sees it is so, just everybody pick up your drinks because we're going to have to drink on every sentence. She's like, Nia changed her persona so much for the sake of what other people are telling her to do. She's doing a job and playing a character, which is exactly what Abby always says you do. Okay.

Speaker 2:
[70:38] None of us do it like Maddie does.

Speaker 1:
[70:40] Right. That's the exact thing you have to watch out for when your kids move to New York or LA. That is not her image. It's the music video, it's a story. She's telling a story. She's playing a character. It's not the image I worked for to make that child over the last 13 years of her life. Nia is forever linked to the ALDC and these are things that I saw that I didn't approve of. Just everybody drank.

Speaker 2:
[71:08] Silver shorts. Okay. You have this naked fan dance.

Speaker 1:
[71:14] In silver shorts, actually. Now you say it.

Speaker 2:
[71:17] No, they were white, I think.

Speaker 1:
[71:19] No, they were silver. They were silver. They were this big. They were silver. They were silver. Piaz, by the way, Abby always talks about knowing your references, your dance history or whatever. When I looked at them in their silver shorts with their bodies painted silver, it was giving to me Studio 54. That's what they did in Studio 54. If you all remember the movie with Ryan Philippe or Felipe, however you say it, Reese Witherspoon's ex-husband, sorry, I'm leading with her, not him. He had almost the exact same outfit on when he was working at Studio 54. It's very 70s. Is it a little like-

Speaker 2:
[71:58] I thought it was kind of cool.

Speaker 1:
[72:01] Who cares?

Speaker 2:
[72:03] Yeah.

Speaker 1:
[72:03] I'm going to bring up something later. I don't want to talk about it now because it makes sense later. But Abby found the one thing that she could say was inappropriate, so now she's going to fixate on it, which is what she always does. Then Melissa, she's got to get a little dig in there, because she's like, aren't you her manager? Trust me, that is sharing the pot and poking at the bear. Abby's like, I guess I'm not her manager anymore.

Speaker 2:
[72:34] Well, then Jess asks for details about the trip to Australia, and Abby just shoots her down and she's like, you should just stay home.

Speaker 1:
[72:45] All of this is going to become important later, later episodes, all this behind-the-scenes stuff, so that's why we're telling you now. Yeah.

Speaker 2:
[72:53] So then Cura reveals that Jill and Melissa plan to get tattoos and Abby turns her nose up at that tacky idea.

Speaker 1:
[73:00] Oh, we are so not tacky. I mean, have you seen my jewelry? I am haute couture, okay, with my plastic rhinestone shit that matches the embroidery on my Walmart t-shirt. But you know what? You're tacky. Pardon me.

Speaker 2:
[73:18] So Abby's just like, I don't know, not paying attention because of music. Because of Nia's music video, but her mood all of a sudden improves.

Speaker 1:
[73:35] Why does it come about her?

Speaker 2:
[73:36] It's a real estate agent calls.

Speaker 1:
[73:39] Because it's about her.

Speaker 2:
[73:41] And they bring in her blueprints and her keys. And now she's once again, this episode, creaming her jeans. I think this is the third time.

Speaker 1:
[73:55] We're very, it's a very Jean Cream heavy episode.

Speaker 2:
[74:00] Yeah.

Speaker 1:
[74:02] Jill's creamed her jeans. I think Holly might have even creamed her jeans during Nia's video. Oh, God. Holly creamed her jeans. Holy shit. We had a Holly Jean Cream moment. Never in my life did I think I'd say those words.

Speaker 2:
[74:17] I don't think Holly would like you to say those words.

Speaker 1:
[74:20] Holly's going to file a restraining order on me.

Speaker 2:
[74:24] But Abby being happy didn't last very long because then, as soon as they got into the solo rehearsal, she became short tempered again. And she was saying that the girls were worse than usual.

Speaker 1:
[74:39] Oh, okay.

Speaker 2:
[74:40] Because, you know, that's uplifting.

Speaker 1:
[74:42] Yeah, work harder for me.

Speaker 2:
[74:44] When insulting the girls, Abby is hungrily scanning social media on her phone for any morsels of information about Nia's music video.

Speaker 1:
[74:53] She can't stand it. Yeah, I kind of love it. This is Nia's hair, this clip right here. She looks so beautiful.

Speaker 2:
[75:03] I liked all of the different scenes. Yeah. I have never, well, we're not there yet. Is this the performance?

Speaker 1:
[75:13] Yeah.

Speaker 2:
[75:14] This right now? Okay.

Speaker 1:
[75:15] Yeah. So she's getting her hair and makeup done for her next look. Mahiki gives her a pep talk. And he's like, you only get one chance to release as a makeup artist. And I want you to remember that you're a star and that's why you're doing this. We're all here. We all believe in you. We're all here to make this moment special for you. I'm going to be here for you every step of the way. Let's go out there and kill it. Wow. Did we just have a real pep talk?

Speaker 2:
[75:37] And do you see how it affected her performance?

Speaker 1:
[75:40] Yes.

Speaker 2:
[75:41] I have never seen her as confident.

Speaker 1:
[75:46] Yeah.

Speaker 2:
[75:46] And just sure in herself. And it's just like, this is me and this is my day.

Speaker 1:
[75:52] And she, I am so glad that she took that day and made it the most she could make it. And I, when I was like watching the monitors with Holly, I was like, oh my God, like it really was amazing. Because I haven't really seen the finished products of these videos. I would see but I never did either. But I was like, oh damn, I can see why Jill's a little salty, truly. But I can also see why Holly is just like, just ecstatic. And Holly's like, you know what? I'm nervous because she says, and this is sad, Nia's music career has cost me my relationship with Abby. And in her interview, Holly's like, she's tearing up, you know, and she's like, I'm so grateful for my little girl. She's having a time of her life despite what has happened to this kid over four years on the competition team. Finally, someone sees the talent that I have seen in my kid all along.

Speaker 2:
[76:50] So sweet.

Speaker 1:
[76:52] Heart eyes.

Speaker 2:
[76:53] Yeah. Then Todrick arrives and they're both shocked to see him. And he apologizes to Holly for the situation that happened a couple of days prior. And Holly calls Jill to check in and see how the moms are doing at the studio. And she is shocked to hear that none of the moms are going to show up at Nia's photos or music shoot.

Speaker 1:
[77:20] Yeah, they're busy. Like they're getting tattoos, Kel.

Speaker 2:
[77:25] Like really?

Speaker 1:
[77:28] Yeah.

Speaker 2:
[77:28] Like you have all this time in the world and you're going to do it the one day that Nia has a special day.

Speaker 1:
[77:34] Like the three hours that Nia, like that you could come over here. They're going to complain in a little bit. There's some behind the scenes stuff about this, but I'm going to keep going because I'm going to try to like be snappy. So we're back at rehearsal. Abby's working with JoJo and she's like, you're absolutely bonkers. She's like, you're going to be crazy. And we're just hearing about the solo. She's like, trying to do all these things. She's like, JoJo needs to straighten up. So why not put her in a straight jacket? I don't even understand. She's loud, she's big, she's blonde. So I want to reign her in and work on her technique. Okay, I get that a little bit.

Speaker 2:
[78:09] I didn't think there was any technique in this dance.

Speaker 1:
[78:11] Nope. And that's, here's what she said. She's pissed at JoJo in the studio. And she's like, Gianna, Kalani should have been the one doing the solo. There is the nugget of truth there. That she wanted you to focus on Kalani's legs and feet. And she's so pissed that this idea that she gave to production, they, in Abby's mind, not mine, wasted on JoJo. She's pissed. So she's just being mean.

Speaker 2:
[78:38] Right there, though, she could have had a lot more dancing in this routine. So Abby kind of, what is that saying? Bits your tail off, spite your whatever.

Speaker 1:
[78:53] Oh, cut your nose off to spite your face? Or she's like a child who breaks her toys, because she doesn't want anybody else to play with them.

Speaker 2:
[78:59] Yeah, like she could have made the dance still amazing with JoJo, but she was pissed and had a hissy fit and just gave it lame choreography to prove a point.

Speaker 1:
[79:12] Yep. Yep. So Jess.

Speaker 2:
[79:17] Which didn't help her out either, or JoJo.

Speaker 1:
[79:20] No. Jess in her interview is like, are you freaking kidding me? This is one of the hardest routine JoJo's ever had. She said, why don't you try dancing without your arms? Well, Jess, she has to dance without her legs every week because she sits on that cheese mat. She screams things. All right. So the moms are like, Abby's just in a bad mood because of Nia's music video, she's taking it out on the kids. She's always taking something out on the kids. She's mad at production. She's taking it out on the kids. The bus driver went the wrong way. She's taking it out on the kids. Her meatball sub is cold. She's taking it out on the kids. Jill's checking social media and she's like, oh my God, Holly has posted 11 more times. And then-

Speaker 2:
[80:01] Why are they counting? Stay off of it.

Speaker 1:
[80:08] They can't help themselves. And they see the post and it's a shady post from Aubrey O'Day and we break the fourth wall for a moment on Dance Moms. We repair the fourth wall later because we say the ALDC and the parking lot. But in this moment, they actually read the words, Dance Moms on TV, which might have been the first time we've ever heard the show say Dance Moms.

Speaker 2:
[80:32] Yeah.

Speaker 1:
[80:33] Uh-huh. So Aubrey tweeted or she posted on Instagram, On set with my little babe, Nia Su-5. I'm dead that her name still has a number in it because all of our girls had stupid numbers in their names for a long time. And her dancers killing any music video ever released on Dance Moms. The real Abby Lee, hashtag team Nia. And Jill in her interview is like, how am I supposed to shield Kendall from this? If Holly was so concerned about Abby getting to Nia's head, why did she go ahead and let Aubrey do this to my kid and right before the competition? Go ahead. I have better times to give all of my thoughts, but like-

Speaker 2:
[81:15] So it's Jill saying that Holly's trying to ruin Kendall?

Speaker 1:
[81:22] She allowed Aubrey to torture her daughter on social media. I never heard her once say anything about Kendall.

Speaker 2:
[81:29] Aubrey's a big girl. I'm sure she posted whatever she wanted to post.

Speaker 1:
[81:34] Holly didn't sign off on it.

Speaker 2:
[81:36] Yeah, Holly, I mean, you don't call me before you send out a post, but I wouldn't approve of some of them. Shut up.

Speaker 1:
[81:46] But here's the other thing. This isn't about Kendall in any way, shape or form, because they had only shot Kendall's music video two days before. It was never, the public hadn't seen it yet. So Aubrey's not talking about Kendall's music video, because she didn't see it.

Speaker 2:
[82:03] Abby was trying to mess up and get Nia's head the day before her thing.

Speaker 1:
[82:09] But they're blaming Holly for this. It wasn't Holly, it was Aubrey. We'll get there, because there's points to be made. So Jill's accusing Holly of turning the music videos against each other. And so the moms really start talking shit. And Kira's like, how do you battle that mouth? Oh.

Speaker 2:
[82:25] Referring to Holly.

Speaker 1:
[82:26] Yep. And Holly, or Jill's like, you know what, Holly only pretends not to be competitive. And this is causing her to show her two colors. Okay. I have a hot take though.

Speaker 2:
[82:39] Let me just say one thing before I forget. You're not on Dance Moms if you're not competitive.

Speaker 1:
[82:44] That's exactly what I was going to say. My hot take is-

Speaker 2:
[82:48] You don't do competitive, put your child in competitive sports if you're not competitive.

Speaker 1:
[82:55] That right there. I was actually going to say, I agree with half of what Jill says in that sentence, that Holly's pretending not to be competitive because it's frowned upon. Holly is absolutely competitive. You're not on a TV show about competition dance if you are not inherently competitive. We're all competitive. You don't have a doctorate from an Ivy League school if you are not competitive. Do you know what I mean? Whether you're competing against society's perception of you or yourself or your sister or whatever. I agree with Jill there and we're all guilty of it, but some of us are just more upfront. I don't know why we all pretended on the show that we weren't competitive, why it was so frowned upon. Like own that shit. Yes, I'm competitive. I like to win.

Speaker 2:
[83:44] Well, like you said, you can't be honest. Jill, I think is the most competitive.

Speaker 1:
[83:50] Correct.

Speaker 2:
[83:51] I mean, there's different levels.

Speaker 1:
[83:53] Well, I also think Melissa always is ultra competitive, but in a different way than Jill. Jill will come out and say it.

Speaker 2:
[84:01] Yeah.

Speaker 1:
[84:01] But I think if you took an internal temperature of competitiveness, I don't know. I think Melissa has something to prove like competitiveness with everything. But I mean, I do as well. I think we all do have something to prove. So they're still all agreeing with Jill and they're bitching and Kira's like Holly sits here on a daily basis and Melissa's like she preaches. And Kira says she talks bad about what Abby does, then she does the same exact thing. Okay. How many times have we heard the mom say we can't control what Abby does? That's all Melissa ever said. I can't control her. She's Abby Lee Miller. Why now are they expecting Holly to control Aubrey? That's wildly contradicting. So please everyone drink.

Speaker 2:
[84:45] I mean, Melissa said that all the time.

Speaker 1:
[84:49] I can't control. It's not me. It's Abby. Holly should turn around. It's not me. It's Aubrey. She does say that. But again, now we have the moms contradicting things. So everybody drink. Everybody drink. Drink.

Speaker 2:
[85:01] Wait.

Speaker 1:
[85:01] Hold on. I think I have something. You ready? Hold on. Let me see if I have it. Let me look. Let me look. Oh, I might not. Okay. Uh, oh, wait. Uh, oh, no. Here. That's drink.

Speaker 2:
[85:24] But now you have sound effects.

Speaker 1:
[85:27] I don't think I will use them ever. But for now, that's why I hate you. I'm a producer now, Kelly. It's me and Abby. She's producing a music video. I'm producing a podcast.

Speaker 2:
[85:42] All right. So the moms can't stop blaming or bad mouthing Holly. They're calling her a hypocrite because she keeps claiming that Nia is being excluded from things. And not, but then she didn't invite the girls to participate in her video.

Speaker 1:
[86:02] I'm pretty sure that that was, it was set up that the girls had to be at rehearsal. So she probably didn't say, come to the video because, and I'm defending Holly here because she knew that they were filming. But in about four minutes, Aubrey is going to call and Holly calls from set in a moment and invites them. And Jill's like, sorry, we're going to get tattoos.

Speaker 2:
[86:27] Which is, how can you go get tattoos instead of going to, because I talk to Melissa all the time and she's like, I go to everything of Nia's, but you didn't go to one of the most important things in her life here.

Speaker 1:
[86:45] Yeah. Keep that in mind. Because I think a lot of times people are like, they forget some of the obvious things and they just focus on, like if you keep saying, whatever, it's kind of like if you keep saying something over and over and over again, people believe you. Like I've gone to everything. We have it. We see it with our own eyes.

Speaker 2:
[87:08] Yeah. So the moms are asking Jess if she's planning on going to Australia. And she doesn't intend to go somewhere that she isn't welcome.

Speaker 1:
[87:21] Yeah. I don't disagree with her.

Speaker 2:
[87:23] Yeah. And this happened with Holly too, didn't it?

Speaker 1:
[87:28] Yep.

Speaker 2:
[87:29] All right. So after Jess leaves to watch JoJo's rehearsal, the moms discuss whether their days on the ALDC are numbered. Though JoJo's behavior has improved, Abby remains unimpressed with her dancing.

Speaker 1:
[87:45] Which is wild to me because I actually think, especially in the group dance this week, I think JoJo looks great with those girls in the group dance. She does, even though competitively, I want to be like, the original group is the best group because my daughter was part of it. Watching that group number, I thought JoJo held her own and could turn with the group. She was just as strong as anybody on that stage. So for Abby to be unimpressed, I don't know why the criteria is so much higher for her. I don't.

Speaker 2:
[88:25] All right, so now Kenzie enters and she's disgusting how she's discouraged by her solo rehearsal. She thinks that Abby is not giving her enough attention. She's getting no positive feedback and that the choreography isn't challenging. She thinks she's being set up to lose.

Speaker 1:
[88:48] And she said, and my name's not even Chloe Lukasiak. How is this happening to me?

Speaker 2:
[88:52] We have both of them every week.

Speaker 1:
[88:54] I know what I'm saying.

Speaker 2:
[88:56] We know.

Speaker 1:
[88:58] She doesn't get that very often. So she's like, what is this bullshit? Yes, what is this bullshit? Welcome to our world.

Speaker 2:
[89:06] Yeah, so the moms all agree that Abby's more stressed than usual. And they're saying it's because of blah, blah, blah. Nia's music video. So now she's taking it out on the girls.

Speaker 1:
[89:18] Okay, this next sentence or this next little blip kills me.

Speaker 2:
[89:22] Okay, so they're worried that Holly and Nia's social media posts are giving them an edge in the video wars. Jill decides to post more pictures from Kendall's shoot and enlist the moms' help in coming up with flashy hashtags.

Speaker 1:
[89:39] Because nothing spells success like a flashy hashtag. Like, what did Abby tweet or whatever hashtag? She was hashtagging the dumbest shit a couple of weeks ago. It's like, you guys, that's not what hashtags are for, but okay. All right. Wait, this last sentence in this block is so funny.

Speaker 2:
[89:59] Okay, so the moms, despite the ongoing Holly drama, the moms agreed that this trip to LA has been better than the other trip.

Speaker 1:
[90:12] Except for Mackenzie, because she didn't call and set anything up for herself.

Speaker 2:
[90:17] So engrossed in the video wars, Melissa almost forgot to brag about Maddie's Grammy rehearsal.

Speaker 1:
[90:25] Thank God she checked that box. She's like, hold on a minute.

Speaker 2:
[90:28] These are field notes. I'm reading these.

Speaker 1:
[90:30] Yeah. Really funny. But I mean, honestly, if my daughter was dancing at the Grammys, I probably would mention at a time or 100, but it is funny how they are so shady about her in the notes.

Speaker 2:
[90:41] Yeah. So now in Studio A, Abby's frazzled and she asked Jess to watch JoJo's rehearsal because she can't pick up the choreography, and Jess tries to give a peck talk to JoJo, and JoJo's like in tears just because she's so frustrated, and Abby leaves rehearsal early, but not before telling each of the soloists how she is sorely disappointed in them. Only Kalani impressed her today.

Speaker 1:
[91:13] Kalani, you're my saving grace. Thank God I have you and your feet. Thank you.

Speaker 2:
[91:22] Abby checks in with all the moms, and she's taken by surprise because Audrey O'Day calls Jill and invites everyone to the set for Nia's thing. And Abby of Lamely claims that she has meetings to attend. Well, the moms say they'll try to make it. Yeah, well, they're hanging up. The moms get ready to head to their tattoo parlor and for their piercing appointments. And the moms, despite the girls, positions, those girls are like, Oh God, please.

Speaker 1:
[91:57] We're 13, please, please, please know, like, butterfly tramp stamp tattoos, Jill, please.

Speaker 2:
[92:04] Is that what it was, was a butterfly tramp?

Speaker 1:
[92:06] No, Jill had that tattoo on her ass. And I said, why is that butterfly peeing on your butt? Because it was like sprinkling.

Speaker 2:
[92:12] Melissa and Jill got matching tattoos. And Kira got a belly button piercing.

Speaker 1:
[92:19] Please read the rest of the sentence. Yes.

Speaker 2:
[92:22] Okay. So it's in honor of her complete lack of dignity, self-awareness and age-appropriate behavior. Okay, Abby, age-appropriate behavior.

Speaker 1:
[92:35] No, no, no, no, no. The hold on. I think you're missing what they're saying. Let, let me, let me point, because this is my favorite thing I've read in Field Notes. So I have to like tell you what they're saying because it's not Abby. Whoever wrote the Field Notes is saying that Melissa and Jill went and they got tattoos in honor of their kids and they're being so shady about Kira. And they're like, Kira gets a belly button piercing in honor, because they got one in honor of their kids. And they're saying in honor of her complete lack of dignity, self-awareness or age-appropriate behavior. They're saying that like what mother in her thirties goes and gets her belly button pierced on Hollywood.

Speaker 2:
[93:15] She's on the floor at this point, right?

Speaker 1:
[93:18] No, too. She wasn't even pregnant yet. Yeah, I think the pregnancy is going to drop real soon. She had Kalani and she had Jax, because Jax is like a little bit older than Clara. But she's not pregnant yet. Or maybe she was pregnant. We don't know it. Maybe she got a bellybutton piercing when she didn't know she was pregnant. That would trump my night out at the Wooden Nickel when I didn't know I was pregnant. She said it pierced my bellybutton. Yeah. All right. Oh, my God. Do you see that licky face two days to competition?

Speaker 2:
[93:57] I don't know why she does that.

Speaker 1:
[94:00] Oh, God. So we're at Abby's new studio in the parking lot. Everybody's walking in. Why everybody's carrying a trophy, I don't know.

Speaker 2:
[94:08] Do you think, when I saw that, I thought the same thing. Do you think it's to put up in the studio? Because at the studio, she has them all up around. So I'm assuming they brought one to put in the studio.

Speaker 1:
[94:26] No, 100%. But there's no walls here yet. So we have a trophy, but we don't have a wall. So I'm thinking you could have probably let those at your hotel room for another couple of weeks. Just hang on to them.

Speaker 2:
[94:39] They would not give the effect then.

Speaker 1:
[94:42] I know. Yeah. Yeah. So go ahead.

Speaker 2:
[94:49] So now the conversation between the team is strange. As the moms pretend to be happy for Nia, while muttering things, insults to Holly.

Speaker 1:
[95:01] So now Abby and Jean come out and they greet everyone. Abby has very aggressive baby doll eyelashes on. She needed to tell whoever put those on, like, could we tone them down a little bit, but whatever. She takes the girls inside for a tour. She leaves the moms in the parking lot because she's like, I don't need their opinions, which was code four. I'm going to let them fight out here. So now Melissa is like, oh, God, hey, production wants us to ask about your video shoot. So how was it? And Holly's like, you know, it was great. She's gushing, she's happy, she's excited. And they're like, did you see that post? And Holly's like, no, what are you talking about? And they're like, Aubrey's post. And literally, Jill's like, you are associating with someone who says things like that. And Jill says, you surround yourself with those type of people. Girl, Abby Lee Miller could be the most- I was just gonna say- Like, you're associating-

Speaker 2:
[96:03] You're associating with those kinds of people?

Speaker 1:
[96:05] Yeah. That's a step. She actually upgraded, Jill. That's a step up from the shit she's sitting with every week. So she's like, you guys are jealous. And Jill's like, oh, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. She's like, we're not jealous. I just can't believe how much you posted on social media. I didn't do that. But earlier field notes say that Abby actually forbid Jill from posting about Kendall's music video on social media until we saw that Holly was posting. And then they're like, hurry up and put it out there. And then Jill says, you just wanted to put it out there for my kid to cry about what she saw on Instagram. Or maybe Holly was proud of her child.

Speaker 2:
[96:49] Yes.

Speaker 1:
[96:51] It's not about you.

Speaker 2:
[96:55] Not at all. I don't understand why it was such a competition. Why can't they both have one? I don't know. They're totally getting in the aisles. Do you know what I mean?

Speaker 1:
[97:08] But they keep attacking Holly for Aubrey's post. And Holly, I'm so glad she said this. She's like, you don't take responsibility for Abby. I'm not taking responsibility for Aubrey. Absolutely not. And then Jill says, as long as you agree that you threw it in our faces. Okay, you guys, everybody needs to drink, not for a contradiction, but we're all confused. Holly never agreed to that. And she didn't throw it in her face. She was posting about her experience.

Speaker 2:
[97:38] There, and Abby was talking about Kendall's and didn't mention a word of Nia. That's not like throwing it in your face. It's the same freaking thing.

Speaker 1:
[97:49] So can we drink? Because maybe it is a contradiction. So drink twice. I told you. And then Holly's like, you know what? I've always been supportive. I support everybody. This was my daughter had one day. Then Abby like peeks around and she comes out, Kelly. I actually recorded like I stopped what I was doing and I recorded my. What do you want to say? My shit, my TV in my bedroom. Because I was like, it went so fast when Abby comes out and she's standing there before she says something to Holly. She's rehearsing her words.

Speaker 2:
[98:32] Of what she's going to say? What she's going to say?

Speaker 1:
[98:35] Yes. She's standing there right before she says.

Speaker 2:
[98:38] My computer is going to die. I need my charger.

Speaker 1:
[98:41] Okay. I literally recorded this at midnight last night when I was watching it, which if any of you are on social media or our Patreon, and you see me posting at 2 AM, I have only slept, I think a total of seven hours in the last 72. I cannot sleep. I don't know what's wrong with me. Yeah, I can't sleep. I have not slept in days. I'm starting to feel manic, which is probably why I'm talking like an insane person. I don't know why, but she is practicing her words before she fights with Holly.

Speaker 2:
[99:15] Here, I'm going to show you.

Speaker 1:
[99:16] Everybody ready? It's going to be fast, so watch the center of the screen. Did you see her? She's mouthing the words. I'll play it again. Okay. I'll do it again. She's literally going, literally practicing the words. I'm like, oh, wow. Then she jumps in and she goes, the silver lame underwear and the heels were a little much for me personally. Okay.

Speaker 2:
[99:50] The lame. Again.

Speaker 1:
[99:54] Studio 54. That's all I'm saying. So then Holly's walking away and she turns around and she said, this is no different than when Maddie danced in a nude bodysuit. And Abby loses her mind. And she's like, you're actually comparing this music video with Sia's project. Yeah. You know why? Because not everyone has been afforded the same opportunities because one child has been put on a pedestal. So she's getting opportunities like Elastic Heart and Chandelier and all of that where this is Nia's best opportunity that she's had. So is it going to win a Grammy? No. But is it important to her? Yes.

Speaker 2:
[100:36] And at least it's something positive for her. Like Abby should be happy for her.

Speaker 1:
[100:42] Abby has said so many times, you are playing a role. This is what you're playing. Okay. And I have to say, she's talking about, you know, like Holly turns around and she brings up the nude bodysuit from Chandelier. But to me-

Speaker 2:
[100:59] I love that she was quick enough to bring that up.

Speaker 1:
[101:05] Yes. But Abby was fixated on the boys in the shorts. And do you not remember what just happened a few weeks before? It was the Elastic Heart video drop. Do we not remember Shia LaBeouf in nothing but a pair of nude shorts with Maddie, like-

Speaker 2:
[101:25] Hanging on him, yeah.

Speaker 1:
[101:26] Hanging on him. I just sent you a screenshot of his outfit in that video. Look at it on your phone. I didn't put it on here. I forgot.

Speaker 2:
[101:35] Yeah.

Speaker 1:
[101:36] Okay. How are the silver lame shorts worse than this?

Speaker 2:
[101:41] Exactly.

Speaker 1:
[101:43] Yes. Holly's infuriated. She calls the moms out about not supporting Nia. She starts to walk away and Jill is screaming, you win Holly. You wanted to win and you do. Holly's like, it's not a competition and Jill's like, you turned it into a competition against Abby. Holly's like, what the fuck are you talking about? She doesn't say what the fuck in case you're wondering. She doesn't. I did. She's like, whatever, you win. You have Abby, you have the studio, you win, because Holly is not part of the ALDC off-camera anymore. She's saying to Jill, you win. Now, remember-

Speaker 2:
[102:17] Holly has an R-band wagon.

Speaker 1:
[102:19] Yeah. She's like, I'm not signing this contract. But also at the beginning of this shoot, scene one, Jill is the one who said, take that Holly when Kendall was doing her video. Who started it? So Holly's in her car and she's sobbing, and I am sick for her. I'm sick for her because she's all alone. That's a tough place to be because she can't really leave the show and she doesn't want them to win. She's like, I'm not walking away because I was there. You wanted to leave her. I feel pushed out. I feel I have a right to be here. I think that's where Holly is. She's crying throughout the whole interview, and I was like, it was really hard to watch because my heart just broke for her. I had so much empathy because I know how that feels.

Speaker 2:
[103:14] Exactly.

Speaker 1:
[103:16] You're like, oh, God.

Speaker 2:
[103:16] I feel that over the whole thing. It brings all that back.

Speaker 1:
[103:25] She's like, Nia has worked so hard. The video was such an amazing experience for her, and every child deserves to have a moment. They all are working hard. They're all giving up their childhoods. Let them all have a moment. And she said, I'm just sad that the people who I thought my friends can't share it. They don't care because they're not my friends. They're Abby's friends.

Speaker 2:
[103:43] That broke my heart.

Speaker 1:
[103:46] Holly, I would have been there. I'd have been in the parking lot with your bags.

Speaker 2:
[103:50] I was sitting here thinking when I watched it, I kind of felt like I felt sad that she didn't feel like she could have called one of us.

Speaker 1:
[104:01] But it's also, you know, I understand because after you left, I was still filming and I felt alone. I didn't call you because you're so busy. And also, you know, like when you left and I was still there, me calling you and bitching about it just makes it make like you're already kind of starting to heal from it. And then if I'm calling and like bringing you back into it, like that's almost not fair too. Because you're like, oh, I don't want to deal with this. I left if you don't like it, leave. You know what I mean?

Speaker 2:
[104:35] Yeah.

Speaker 1:
[104:36] So I get, I understand what you're saying. And I do think that had she called us, would have been like, yes, okay. At least giving her some support. But I also think I know that you don't want to call somebody and drag them back into it. Because you're like, oh god, they're gone. And I wonder if maybe a part of her deep down, and I'm speaking for, and I don't know if she even feels this way, is like, you know what? Maybe I don't want to call them because I didn't stand up for them when it was them and not me. So maybe they wouldn't support me.

Speaker 2:
[105:09] Yeah.

Speaker 1:
[105:10] But, you know, I mean, I would have definitely taken the call, although I probably ought to have blocked at that point because I don't want them calling me on camera. So maybe not.

Speaker 2:
[105:19] By this point, I would have definitely taken a call just because I've been off of it for long enough. You know what I mean? Yeah.

Speaker 1:
[105:26] I think I was still a little bit like about it.

Speaker 2:
[105:28] Yeah.

Speaker 1:
[105:29] All right. Let's get through these field notes.

Speaker 2:
[105:32] God, where am I at? At the green room?

Speaker 1:
[105:36] No. Wait, where are we? No, this is just in the parking lot. I'm seeing if there is anything. Yeah, there's one thing. I'm just going to say this.

Speaker 2:
[105:49] Go ahead.

Speaker 1:
[105:52] Abby comes out, the moms are arguing, Holly storms off, and then Jill and Melissa try to make light of the situation with Abby. Don't look over there. Let's look at our tattoos. Abby's like, what? Which is normal.

Speaker 2:
[106:05] I told Melissa to send me a picture.

Speaker 1:
[106:07] Did she?

Speaker 2:
[106:08] Yes, not yet.

Speaker 1:
[106:09] She's probably embarrassed. In the viewing room, the moms go back in. The girls are being very supportive. Kendall's actually being very supportive off camera. She's like, you know what, Kendall or Nia, it's not a competition. We're friends, we're both triple threats. Two people could have good music videos. Once again, the children being the mature ones. So in the viewing room, the moms are still bashing Holly, and they're being totally poor sports because they keep bringing up the Aubrey O'Day thing. They're like, Holly can do that. Then Abby comes in and she's like, I did my best I could for Kendall, but production just didn't support it. I gave her a video that was good, just not one that was designed for shock value. I didn't think Nia's video was that shocking.

Speaker 2:
[106:58] I haven't seen the whole video.

Speaker 1:
[107:01] No.

Speaker 2:
[107:04] I like Nia's stuff the best.

Speaker 1:
[107:08] Yeah. Now the moms are telling Jess to consider, is it really worth it to go to Australia? Abby told you to stay home. Jess is like, well, Holly's in the same boat, so what's she going to do? Then Kenzie comes out and she tells everybody she was cut from the group because she's too short. Because they cut out her solo, that's why they had to pretend that Mackenzie didn't have a dance, that she was sick. Because when I first saw that before I knew that, I'm like, how in the hell is it Mackenzie's sick she's sitting out? That would never fly on Dance Moms.

Speaker 2:
[107:42] I was going to say, yeah.

Speaker 1:
[107:44] They just made that up because Abby cut her and they thought they'd show the solo, but they didn't.

Speaker 2:
[107:50] Okay.

Speaker 1:
[107:53] You know, blah, blah, blah. Oh, Abby is in Studio A and she's talking shit about Nia in front of Nia. She's like, you know what? Girls like Kenzie and Kendall can fall on their face, and I'm still going to stick around because I've so much invested in their careers. But you know what, Nia? I don't know if I need you. Nia is like, you know what? I'm going to be on Dance Moms, she says the ALDC, until I graduate from high school. Abby says to Nia, are you ready? Because this is fucking rude. She's like, well, from the clips I've seen, your backup dancers out danced you.

Speaker 2:
[108:30] See, that's a moment that I would have been freaking out and they would have shown it as something else.

Speaker 1:
[108:38] Yep. So there's one day to the competition, and they don't really show this, but they have it in the notes. Abby, Kira, Melissa, Jean, and Jill went to the OK Magazine Grammy Party. Nia and Holly went to the NAACP Image Awards. So now it's the day of competition. We go in and we see everybody getting ready, and we see a shot of Kira sewing Kalani's headpiece in. I just want to point out that my notes say CDs, question mark. That's going to be important in a moment.

Speaker 2:
[109:11] Oh, I know. I actually liked this part. Are you talking about Kira?

Speaker 1:
[109:19] Yes.

Speaker 2:
[109:20] Yeah. I swear to God, at the same exact moment she said that, I was thinking the same thing.

Speaker 1:
[109:29] Kelly, do you see what I wrote in the notes here? I actually wrote, I don't know where they are. Wherever she's talking about it, I wrote something along the lines of, I don't know where it is. I literally wrote, holy shit, for the one time, once in my life, I'm thinking the exact same thing as Kira. I was like, oh, that's exactly what I said. I was like, oh my God, because she's like, oh, they're platinum, their music has gone platinum.

Speaker 2:
[110:03] Yeah, because I'm like, why did she use CDs? And then I'm thinking maybe because of the lighting, they get a layer off of there.

Speaker 1:
[110:10] Exactly, they're platinum.

Speaker 2:
[110:12] Yeah.

Speaker 1:
[110:14] We all thought the same thing, and now we all have to ice skate home. Jill's saying, Holly and I had a huge argument at this point. I don't know where we stand with one another. And it's really unfortunate because for these kids to be at the top of their game, they need all the support they can get. Should we drink for a contradiction because Jill doesn't seem very supportive. I'm just saying.

Speaker 2:
[110:36] Yeah, no.

Speaker 1:
[110:36] All right. So in the green room, everybody's getting settled in. And Jill questions Abby's whereabouts and she goes, two down, one to go. She has to show up. What in the hell was that? What did that mean?

Speaker 2:
[110:49] I don't know. Like. Two down, one to go. So me and you and that's what I thought. That's what I was thinking. It was two down, so that'd be me and you. And then Holly's the one more to go. And then Abby will be happy with her team maybe.

Speaker 1:
[111:09] Yeah, she'll find somebody to get rid of. Well, she already wants her to JoJo. So Holly's phone rings, she steps outside to take a call. Your turn.

Speaker 2:
[111:17] So when Holly goes out, she is taking a call from Aubrey. And the moms are speculating on what is going to happen and what they're talking about. And they discuss how she has made this bed for herself and she needs to lay in it.

Speaker 1:
[111:34] How many times are we going to say that this episode? It's the new pop star.

Speaker 2:
[111:40] That's kind of like what Abby said to you when you were roofied.

Speaker 1:
[111:44] Oh, yeah.

Speaker 2:
[111:45] She was like, all men for themselves.

Speaker 1:
[111:47] Yeah.

Speaker 2:
[111:48] That's basically what they're saying.

Speaker 1:
[111:50] Yeah. Oh, well, sucks to be you. You did it.

Speaker 2:
[111:54] So the moms continue to bash Holly and Nia and her video. And while she is out, but are dead silent, when she comes back in, are dead silent as soon as she steps back in. Okay. Holly's, they're all talking about Holly and Nia. And then she comes back in and they're like, well, we didn't say anything.

Speaker 1:
[112:19] Yeah. How about say it to my face? I double-dogged Daria.

Speaker 2:
[112:21] We're talking about you.

Speaker 1:
[112:24] Yeah. So on the call, Aubrey is telling Nia, or actually Holly tells Aubrey that Nia is still on a high from the experience. But the moms haven't been very supportive or positive. And they're saying that she posted too much on social media.

Speaker 2:
[112:38] I love this.

Speaker 1:
[112:41] I do too. It was Aubrey. Because Holly's like, they took something so positive, they made it into a negative. Are you saying this next thing?

Speaker 2:
[112:50] No, I'm just saying that they took a positive and made it into a negative. Oh, I'm sorry. They did that all the time. Anything positive that any one of those kids ever did, they made it negative.

Speaker 1:
[113:01] Negative. Well, I loved what Aubrey said. I'm going to read this because I'm trying not to read everything verbatim. But she said, that's what haters do. Those people want their daughters to win more than they want your friendship. It sounds like you are around a lot of jealous people. When that comes and when it comes hard, it means you're doing something right. Take that as another win. Don't let anyone steal your joy. I thought that was great.

Speaker 2:
[113:26] That was.

Speaker 1:
[113:27] I think Abby now has two pep talks to take notes from because hers aren't quite a thing.

Speaker 2:
[113:32] Yeah, hers aren't working. Yeah.

Speaker 1:
[113:36] Holly's in tears and she's like, you know what, I really needed to hear that. Back in the green room, Jess asked and Holly's just like, you know what, I don't trust anybody. I'm not really saying anything. It was good.

Speaker 2:
[113:49] Is this me?

Speaker 1:
[113:50] Yep, it's you.

Speaker 2:
[113:51] Where am I?

Speaker 1:
[113:52] Field notes. Jill brings up the tension.

Speaker 2:
[113:54] Okay. Jill brings up the tension among the moms. Because of the dueling videos, and Kira quickly mentions that both Abby and Aubrey needed to be held accountable for their actions. Everyone is at fault and Holly snaps.

Speaker 1:
[114:13] I think this is a bonus scene. Keep going.

Speaker 2:
[114:16] Holly starts screaming at all the moms and tells Kira to stop talking and eventually storms out of the room. The moms are shocked by Holly's behavior and agree that she was out of line. Then Abby enters the room, and when she learns that Holly stormed out, she rants that she is disappointed by where the relationship has gone with both Holly and Nia.

Speaker 1:
[114:40] You wanted this. This is exactly what you wanted. You wanted this relationship to be like that. How are you disappointed? We're gonna react to this bonus scene over on our Patreon on the bonus scene part of this. So if you're not a Patreon subscriber, this is a perfect chance for you to join patreon.com/back to the bar. And you can see us watch this for the first time because I have a feeling I might have an opinion about it. I'm just guessing.

Speaker 2:
[115:08] No, not you.

Speaker 1:
[115:09] Yeah. So now Abby comes in and we hear her version of a pep talk. She's like, Hey Jojo, focus on technique. To Kendall, she's like, you're a recording artist, but dancing is what put you on the map. You're here. You need to win. So and she's like, and you're being judged by kids. So really win.

Speaker 2:
[115:28] So Abby freaks out about Maddie and Mackenzie and Kendall's costumes. And so she spends time recreating parts of them.

Speaker 1:
[115:37] That's kind of the shit that she does. When something else is out of her control, she focuses on something that she's like blaming production for, like these costumes are wrong. And then she's hyper focused like her anger on that.

Speaker 2:
[115:49] So Mackenzie did, we're in the competition theater and Mackenzie does disco ball. And Mackenzie cries after hitting the stage. Not only did she mess up, but her wig started falling off during her routine and she fears that Abby will be mad at her.

Speaker 1:
[116:08] I don't know. I've never really seen Abby be super mad at Mackenzie. Like she says some shady stuff, but I think she's safe.

Speaker 2:
[116:17] But I also think that's another reason why they cut that from the episode.

Speaker 1:
[116:23] Yeah, because Abby probably, yes, yes, because that's a perfect opportunity to get like a good, and she just didn't do it.

Speaker 2:
[116:31] And they let it go.

Speaker 1:
[116:32] Yeah. I think it was so weird to see kids sitting at the judging table. Sorry.

Speaker 2:
[116:37] I thought it was very weird too, but.

Speaker 1:
[116:39] Yeah. So JoJo Does Straighten Up, what did you think?

Speaker 2:
[116:46] I didn't think it was a very technical dance. I thought the concept was really cool. And I thought the dance could have been amazing. I said, I think it would have been cool to have been an acro number and have them be tied up and then them contort their way out of the street jacket.

Speaker 1:
[117:04] It would have been a really cool duet if they were like helping each other escape kind of thing. Yeah, like partners in crime.

Speaker 2:
[117:13] Yeah, so I think it had potential. And I think Abby sabotaged it.

Speaker 1:
[117:18] Maybe we should come out and try to try to do this at the, at the next meet, not meet and greet, but the next show. Okay, I tried to do pin up girls and I shamed myself. So never mind.

Speaker 2:
[117:31] Just leave me in mine.

Speaker 1:
[117:32] Yeah. All right. So Kendall performed. That's funny. I just realized what you said. I mean, all right, it's fine. Except your arms will be tied. You'll need a straw for your cocktail. Yeah. So Kendall performs This Is Major. What did you think?

Speaker 2:
[117:52] It wasn't my favorite.

Speaker 1:
[117:54] I didn't like it.

Speaker 2:
[117:56] I mean, I don't know. I don't know what it was, if it was just because it was so like bandish like vibe. Then that sounds terrible. Like not that it's a bandish, right? It just didn't seem like a dance. It was more like a, what am I trying?

Speaker 1:
[118:19] Like a marching band thing.

Speaker 2:
[118:21] Exactly. Like it was, even though she was turning and stuff while she was marching, I don't know, it took the prettiness out of, and the flowing out of the dance. But I mean, it's not that kind of dance, I guess, but I don't know. It just wasn't my favorite. What did you think?

Speaker 1:
[118:39] I think, Retweet everything you said. I don't know. I didn't like it. I also think that production was setting Kendall up, because she had a music video, and then she had a solo, where like, why wouldn't you give Kalani a solo this week? We always bitch about them putting too much pressure. They want a failure, and she did, she failed. But the fight failed for what Dance Moms would normally have a fight about failed, is what I'm saying.

Speaker 2:
[119:14] So, I just think that's the shit they used to do to make everybody. Like, why would Kendall have a video this week, or a solo this week? They do, that's when we say things like, they set us up. Like, that's what we're talking about. Of all the people to have a solo, it's Kendall on the week she's doing her music video. Just-

Speaker 1:
[119:41] Yep. It's all-

Speaker 2:
[119:44] I'm surprised Jill didn't say something about that.

Speaker 1:
[119:46] Oh, she probably did. We just probably didn't see it. You know, she probably was arguing with them. Abby says, Kendall started with a bang, but somewhere in the middle, she fell apart. And she's like, is Kendall ready to be a pop star? Is Kendall K ready to take over the world, or is it just Kendall? And she should go back to Pittsburgh. I thought it was really interesting to see Maddie and Kendall backstage, where Maddie's like, oh God, what happened? And they're trying to comfort her. And Kendall's just like, you can kind of tell they're older. And they're like, okay, wait, let's analyze this. And is there anything that you're really going to get in trouble for? So I appreciated seeing that. It didn't feel like, that felt very real to see between the girls. And I think people like to see that. So in the hallway, the moms are standing around with Abby, and Kendall comes over, and she clearly is trying to hide that she's upset. And I think it's really hard to watch, because she's like, she's like, no, no. And then she's like, I'm fine, I'm fine. She's trying to hide it, not just from Abby, but the cameras.

Speaker 2:
[120:45] Exactly. She has her back to them, yes.

Speaker 1:
[120:48] I don't think a lot of people caught that, but that's the first thing. I was like, she does not want the cameras to see her.

Speaker 2:
[120:53] Exactly. And you know, Abby kept like pushing it, and it's like, she's trying, she's trying her hardest not to be upset and not to be on camera crying, and you guys are just like making it worse.

Speaker 1:
[121:10] Yeah. And she's like, I'm leaving. I'm leaving and she turned. And I thought that is really hard because like our kids and all of them, when our girls were on and they were little, learned very early on that if you had an emotion and you showed it, you were punished for it. And that's not normal. Like that's not normal at all. And so that really like that was hard to watch. No, like I knew that anxiety that she was going through. Because like, you're like, oh, and even if it wasn't your daughter, you knew what those kids felt it because yeah, yeah.

Speaker 2:
[121:49] You know, Abby's like week before or whatever.

Speaker 1:
[121:52] And we loved all of those kids. Like even if they're not your kid, like you're with those girls so much, they're like your own. Maybe they're not your children, but you have a maternal feeling. You don't want anybody to feel that way.

Speaker 2:
[122:07] Yeah.

Speaker 1:
[122:08] And Abby's like, if you cry, you're going to do a thousand push up. I can't even look at this because you're making her crazy. And she's like, I'm upset by everybody. I was getting rushed. Production was probably rushing her backstage, which that's code for that. Abby's like, suck it up. Okay, now we have...

Speaker 2:
[122:25] But they were probably rushing her because they wanted her to mess up.

Speaker 1:
[122:30] Of course.

Speaker 2:
[122:31] And they wanted it to be a big ordeal that she couldn't handle it. She can't be the second in line.

Speaker 1:
[122:36] Pop star.

Speaker 2:
[122:37] Because she couldn't do a music video and a solo in the same week.

Speaker 1:
[122:42] Okay, then... This is making me nauseous. But then we have this moment. You ready?

Speaker 2:
[122:50] What?

Speaker 1:
[122:50] What?

Speaker 2:
[122:50] Why?

Speaker 1:
[122:51] Why do we have Licky part 2? Did you see Licky part?

Speaker 2:
[122:55] It was like she did it the whole video. Oh my God.

Speaker 1:
[122:58] What is going on with the licking?

Speaker 2:
[122:59] That one's better than the other one. The other one was like...

Speaker 1:
[123:01] That other one was wildly uncomfortable. Like... That was something I never wanted to see in my life. And I kind of hate that it's on my desktop right now. Because like I keep getting glimpses out of the corner of my eye. And it's like, it's like a jump scare. So in our interview, Abby says, I don't like to see a kid upset. Everybody just chug. Because that's the wildest contradiction I've ever heard on Dance Moms. Abby does not like to see a kid upset. I know that Kendall's mad at herself, but that doesn't matter because other people see it. If Kendall wants to be a pop star, she's going to go on tour. She's going to need to keep it together. And we still have a group to perform. So Kendall needs to shrug it off and get her head back in the game. All right, go on.

Speaker 2:
[123:45] So the moms speculate what Jess's position is on the team since Abby won't let her go to the Australia trip.

Speaker 1:
[123:53] Oh, I love this sentence. We talked about it before we recorded. Go ahead.

Speaker 2:
[123:57] Jess blames the moms for not inviting quite yet and blames it on their greed. They don't want to share the money they are going to make at the meet and greet. Does that sound familiar to you?

Speaker 1:
[124:11] Kelly, hold on. Let me get my jaw snatcher to pick my jaw off the floor. I was like, isn't Australia where like it all went down?

Speaker 2:
[124:23] Yeah, where she got in trouble, I guess, for...

Speaker 1:
[124:26] Well, all of it.

Speaker 2:
[124:28] Whatever she did.

Speaker 1:
[124:29] The things that we shall not say and people knew. I am... And is Jess wrong? I don't know. I have to say, based on what I have seen so far, I feel that Jess would have definitely been an ally in our corner.

Speaker 2:
[124:52] Oh, absolutely.

Speaker 1:
[124:54] I feel like I most wonder, and I don't know how she would feel, but I almost wonder if I reached out to her at some point and said, like, do you want to do an episode of Back to the Barre? I think she... I don't know if she would do it like how she feels about us now, but I think Jess back then would have sat with Christi and Kelly and like talked about it. I do. Why?

Speaker 2:
[125:14] How does she feel about us now?

Speaker 1:
[125:15] Oh, I have no idea. I mean, I don't.

Speaker 2:
[125:19] She wouldn't do it now because of the way she feels about us.

Speaker 1:
[125:21] No, I don't know. I mean, I've only talked to her a couple of times, and the few times I've talked to her, I've gotten along well with her. I just don't know because we say stuff on podcasts, so people like Cathy hates our guts, but meanwhile, we defend Cathy every week.

Speaker 2:
[125:35] I know.

Speaker 1:
[125:36] So I don't know. But Jess is definitely somebody I would like to ask questions to. I would also really like, I would like to get Annie and Erin on here because I think they were both there for season five. I have questions. I wonder if they would come on together. Because don't forget, we have the Angel Necklace story. That was the two of them. Like they're producing all of this. And I want to know first of all, who wrote the notes?

Speaker 2:
[126:07] Reach out, see if they'll come on.

Speaker 1:
[126:09] I'll ask them. Yeah. So now this is where we get Kiara being like, oh, I get it. She's like, oh, a Schatzky. I get it. Oh, CDs on your headpiece. I get it.

Speaker 2:
[126:20] I was laughing.

Speaker 1:
[126:22] But honestly, same.

Speaker 2:
[126:23] I was thinking at the same exact moment. I'm thinking, I didn't get it. I'm like, what?

Speaker 1:
[126:30] What am I missing?

Speaker 2:
[126:32] I didn't get the long.

Speaker 1:
[126:35] Branches?

Speaker 2:
[126:37] What?

Speaker 1:
[126:37] I didn't know why they were branches in the CDs.

Speaker 2:
[126:41] But I didn't even get the dress.

Speaker 1:
[126:44] Well, Kelly, when they were doing the dance, did you notice that the end of it was literally Bitter Earth? Remember?

Speaker 2:
[126:57] I think they have such pretty legs and feet. Why did she want to cover them?

Speaker 1:
[127:02] I just think it just looked different. I don't think every costume can look the same. But I do agree. But I also think that it was... I think that dance... Okay, we'll get to it. Let me just get to her. Okay. So Mackenzie watches everyone get ready. She wishes she was in the group. We're pushing the Mackenzie sick thing, but she really wasn't sick. She was just cut because Abby said she was too short, which just meant Abby didn't want to have to like, try to work to fit her in the choreography. And I actually don't think Mackenzie would have worked in the choreography.

Speaker 2:
[127:29] I think Mackenzie would have stood out.

Speaker 1:
[127:31] Because they were all exactly the same. And I thought it worked really well with the levels and like, the beats and stuff.

Speaker 2:
[127:37] I agree.

Speaker 1:
[127:38] Oh, God, she's doing another pep talk and she's licking her lips again.

Speaker 2:
[127:43] Like, I don't want to share what's why. Maybe she has dry mouth this week. Maybe she's taking a weird kind of pill or something that's making her have dry mouth.

Speaker 1:
[127:51] Somebody needs to give her some like lip balm. What is it? EOS, those eggs or whatever?

Speaker 2:
[127:56] Use some of this. It works really good. I love it. Brooke gave it to us in our thing.

Speaker 1:
[128:01] I can't say.

Speaker 2:
[128:02] What is it? Oh, my God. It's because I got this stupid ass light on. Oh, yeah.

Speaker 1:
[128:05] Mario Vesca.

Speaker 2:
[128:06] That lip mask.

Speaker 1:
[128:07] Vesca, whatever.

Speaker 2:
[128:08] I love it. I keep it right beside me here and I keep putting it on.

Speaker 1:
[128:13] I have two that I use all the time, Linaise and like the, what is it? The shit. I can't think of it. The Algenist. I do too. Anyway. Abby says, this routine is being judged by kids. Judges at dance competitions are rarely subjective and now the girls are going to be performing for their peers. Go ahead. They also, if they want to come back to LA, they need to prove it as if it's different from any other week of Dance Moms.

Speaker 2:
[128:43] Are you talking to me?

Speaker 1:
[128:45] No, I was just making a comment.

Speaker 2:
[128:47] Okay. Just before the group routine, however we say, the director, he drops a surprise visit for Holly and Nia to the show. He takes some stills, still pictures for the video.

Speaker 1:
[129:05] They're hoping that the moms get pissed and start a riot. But anyway, so the kids do...

Speaker 2:
[129:10] Yes, because Nia won't even be in the same outfits that would be in the video.

Speaker 1:
[129:15] No, I think he's showing pictures from the video to piss everybody off. I think he showed up to rub it in their faces because production is like, well, now we're really going to piss them off. So Platinum. I thought Platinum reminded me very much of Bitter Earth. And Bitter Earth was a senior number that James Washington choreographed that was beautiful.

Speaker 2:
[129:41] Yeah. I really like the number.

Speaker 1:
[129:44] Oh, I loved it. This number and last week's number, I thought were there other than like Stomp the Yard, because I did love Stomp the Yard. I think these have been my two favorite numbers that I have seen. And I could be forgetting one maybe in there.

Speaker 2:
[129:58] I think like when I was watching it, I think it would have been a great Kalani and Maddie duet.

Speaker 1:
[130:08] Yeah, but I liked all of the accents on The Five Girls. And like where two would go down, the three would turn, and then three would leave. I liked it as a group.

Speaker 2:
[130:18] Well, I liked it as a group. But when I was watching it, that's what it reminded me of, like their kind of choreography that they would have.

Speaker 1:
[130:29] Yeah, which is interesting that you say that because when I was watching it, Nia was actually in the front for a couple of parts of the dance. And I thought she looked amazing. And she always gets like, oh, you can't keep up.

Speaker 2:
[130:44] Yeah.

Speaker 1:
[130:45] You just said it's a Maddie and Kalani dance. And I actually thought Nia looked amazing. So maybe she can keep up.

Speaker 2:
[130:52] When you're given the choreography to do, our kids did the same thing every week. Every kid did the same dance every week. So how can you say one can do it and one can't?

Speaker 1:
[131:04] Because we drink for contradictions. Everyone be sober if she said anybody can do it. So Abby said, the girls performed beautifully. I know I got the story, but did the judges? What do these kids know about platinum selling records? And then she goes, the fate of the ALDC lies in the hands of kids. The fate of the ALDC has lied in the hands of children since Dance Moms premiered on July 13th, 2011. All right. So Junior Solos, fifth place, Kendall. Mackenzie actually got fourth place for her disco dude and beat Kendall, which I'm sure did not go over well. JoJo Solo did not place. The group places first in the Junior Small Group and the overall Small Group Awards. So now in the hallway, JoJo's in tears. And I give Holly a lot of credit because she was just treated like garbage. And I know it wasn't Jess and JoJo that treated her like garbage. But I think she was really solid in helping JoJo feel better. And she's like, you know what? Sometimes I tell my students that their peers are harsher than their teachers.

Speaker 2:
[132:11] Yeah.

Speaker 1:
[132:11] And JoJo's just worried that they're going to be disappointed. And she's like, I might have to go home. She doesn't say that, but that's probably what she's thinking.

Speaker 2:
[132:19] She's thinking that, yeah. I think they all thought that every time something like that happened.

Speaker 1:
[132:25] So in the green room, Abby comes in. She congratulates everyone and their victory as a group. And she's like, you know what? I'm just disappointed in the soloist. And she's like, you know, I expect more. Everybody can have an off day, but you don't have an off day when you're leaving LA. And she's like, you know what, JoJo, I disagree with the judges. I thought you had a wonderful solo performance.

Speaker 2:
[132:41] That was very nice, I think.

Speaker 1:
[132:44] And then she says to Kendall, are you ready? You are an open book. You are a little more like me than I thought. Is Abby trying to say that she's an open book who wears her emotions on her sleeve? Is that what she's implying there?

Speaker 2:
[132:59] I think so.

Speaker 1:
[133:01] Okay. Should we drink? Because we just should.

Speaker 2:
[133:06] I think we should drink for the fact that that she thinks she's like Kendall.

Speaker 1:
[133:12] And then Abby says, I've had many favorites throughout the years, but with that comes great responsibility and pressure. And Jill's like, yeah. So now she's like, anyway, I got to go. I get to go to the Grammys tomorrow. And I wrote in my notes, Maddie literally needs to scream, you're welcome. I think so. Okay.

Speaker 2:
[133:34] Yep.

Speaker 1:
[133:35] So how many drinks did you need to make it through this episode?

Speaker 2:
[133:40] I didn't need any.

Speaker 1:
[133:42] Well, I needed 18 because I had to drink for contradictions the whole time.

Speaker 2:
[133:48] Well, I did go through two water bottles.

Speaker 1:
[133:51] Yeah. So you need a lot.

Speaker 2:
[133:52] I'm on my third one. So I did drink a lot.

Speaker 1:
[133:57] Who do you think was at the bottom of the pyramid for outfits? Because I know who I thought.

Speaker 2:
[134:03] I'm going to say Jess.

Speaker 1:
[134:05] I'm going to say this one, the Sheshark hat.

Speaker 2:
[134:08] Well, I didn't like that thing Jess had on worse than that. I just think that went together very well.

Speaker 1:
[134:14] Yeah. I didn't like Jill's outfit. That was that QVC Easter special. Deal of the day. Not my favorite. Did you have a favorite quote?

Speaker 2:
[134:26] Yeah. Holly in the beginning, what did she say? I don't know.

Speaker 1:
[134:42] My favorite quote was actually, it wasn't even read in our episodes, but I wrote it down because I actually was like, when they were filming the video, Mahiki said to Holly, you are raising a star. And I thought to myself, we always talk about how the girls need to be lifted up and supported, but I think that that was important for Holly to hear in that moment.

Speaker 2:
[135:10] Yeah.

Speaker 1:
[135:11] Because we always let the girls have their moments. And I think sometimes it's nice to hear confirmation or affirmation about you as a mom. And it really was back at Nia because it was Nia doing a great job. But I think that that probably went far with Holly. I do too. I like that. What was your favorite dance of the episode?

Speaker 2:
[135:35] The group.

Speaker 1:
[135:38] Same. I loved that group. I thought it was really fantastic. Bar tab.

Speaker 2:
[135:43] Oh, my favorite saying was Melissa when she says good. You can squeeze Abby's pimples now.

Speaker 1:
[135:49] Oh, God. Yeah. Okay. Yuck. Okay. Now I'm nauseous. First, we have the-

Speaker 2:
[135:58] I was wrong. I thought it was Holly. It was Melissa who said that.

Speaker 1:
[136:02] Okay. Ninety-three percent of you said that you were on Holly's side this week. You guys are all on Holly's side. Oh, yeah.

Speaker 2:
[136:12] I would be too.

Speaker 1:
[136:14] Yeah. I was team Holly. Interesting. I didn't even know this. However, after reading Christi's perspective about the Chodrick thing, Holly is a hypocrite. I'm team nobody. I'm sorry. I didn't know that was going to say that. I probably wouldn't read it. Yeah. It's just everybody's, Jill's, Cringy, team Holly for sure. I love how she stood up to Holly or to Abby. Everybody is team Holly in this for sure. What you guys were saying about the episode when it was live, people liked Nia's video more. They thought it looked polished and authentic. Kendall's was amateur. Fans compared it to being parent funded. That's what it looked like. But people did like Kendall's song. They said it was catchy. But they thought the editing was bad. Fans criticized Abby for attacking Nia's provocative image in the video, pointing out that Abby puts the girls in equally revealing or inappropriate costumes, like you said, fan dance. Nia's outfit in the video wasn't worse than previous ALDC video costumes. Abby never really built a strong persona for Nia beyond background rules. People thought JoJo's solo is actually better than Kendall's, so she should have placed. People were questioning the judging by children. Interestingly enough, Holly had very much divided fans this week. Critics argued that she shouldn't have expected Abby's support after going around her back. She didn't. She was doing what she was told on production. Fans say Abby's history is sidelining Nia, justified Holly taking control. Many fans agree that Holly's emotional outburst escalated in season five compared to earlier seasons. Then fans were accusing Abby of having double standards, during her contradiction, especially regarding Maddie's work with Sia versus Nia pursuing outside opportunities. Fans thought Abby felt threatened by Nia gaining confidence and outside connections. Yep. Top fan tweets, real talk, fuck all the Dance Moms except for Holly. Jojo didn't place that dance was phenomenal. Fame has ruined these women. It's like case study material. Wow, wow, wow. Aubrey must believe in Nia to put her name and face on this, and be honest about Abby. Wow, Jill, you trippin. What you mean, her people? She doesn't have anything to do with they post. Like y'all dumb as fuck. Kendall looks so uncomfortable like she hates it all, wants to go home. I don't blame her. I'm so impressed by Nia on Dance Moms. The way she reacts to the bullshit on that show is more impressive than anybody's dancing.

Speaker 2:
[138:54] I said that earlier.

Speaker 1:
[138:55] Yep. I don't think Holly was throwing anything in anyone's face. I would post 100 pictures of my kid were in the same situation. Yeah. I mean, it's basically everything we said. So for once, we agree with the universe.

Speaker 2:
[139:08] We agreed with what we agreed with. Yeah.

Speaker 1:
[139:10] All right. Well, we are going to go do the after party and the bonus scenes. So if you would like to join us, join patreon.com/back to the Barre and don't forget to get your tickets for the Second Lake of the Tour. We'll see you guys back here on Friday.

Speaker 2:
[139:28] Yeah.

Speaker 1:
[139:29] Okay. Bye.
