Seth and the Very Scary Storm is a comforting picture book that helps kids work through fear with honesty and hope. As Seth worries, the dark sky will return, his mom gently points him to scripture, reminding him that Jesus is always at work, even in the hardest days. This story gives parents a thoughtful way to talk to kids about fear, suffering, and God's steady love. Visit sethandtheveryscarystorm.com to learn more.

[01:38] TJ, come on, it's time to go.
Speaker 3:
[01:40] Ready. Mom, are you coming?
Speaker 1:
[01:43] I sure am, I never want to miss out on a trip to farmer Caroline's farm. I am so excited. Let's get on the bus. Hi, Mrs. King, how are you today?
Speaker 4:
[02:00] Hi, TJ and TJ's mom. I'm doing just dandy today. How are you?
Speaker 1:
[02:07] We're doing great. We're so excited for the Glass Field Trip to Farmer Caroline's. Thanks for letting us tag along.
Speaker 4:
[02:13] Anytime, you two. Just let me know when you have your seatbelt on by saying click, and we'll get started.
Speaker 1:
[02:20] Click.
Speaker 3:
[02:21] Click.
Speaker 1:
[02:34] TJ, what are you most excited about for our visit to Farmer Caroline's today?
Speaker 3:
[02:38] I heard she recently added a yak to her farm. I've never seen a yak before, but I can't wait to see what it looks like.
Speaker 1:
[02:47] Yeepers, I didn't know about the yak. I hear yaks are really big, but come to think of it, I've never seen one in person. I'm excited for that too.
Speaker 3:
[02:56] Mom, what are you most excited about?
Speaker 1:
[02:58] Well, Farmer Caroline grows the best yams around. They're sweet and firm, and I can't wait to pick some up for dinner tonight. I hope she has enough. I'd love to purchase some for Mr. and Mrs. Weissman, too.
Speaker 4:
[03:10] We're here, class. Watch your step and meet Farmer Caroline just outside the barn.
Speaker 2:
[03:17] Come on, TJ, come on, Mom. Let's go. Coming. Me too.
Speaker 5:
[03:33] Welcome, class. What a lovely day it is on the farm today. Are you ready to meet some of our newest plants and animals on the farm?
Speaker 2:
[03:44] I know I am.
Speaker 3:
[03:46] Farmer Caroline, are we gonna get to meet your new yak today?
Speaker 5:
[03:51] You sure will, TJ. I can't wait for you to meet Yancy the Yak. He's such a sweetheart, even if he is a little big and a little stinky. You'll see what I mean. But before we head over to Yancy's pen, I have a little game for us to play to get to know the things around the farm a bit better. Here's what we're gonna do. I'm gonna pass a piece of paper to each of you, and each of you will get a different farm item on your sheet of paper. We're gonna play a game that's a little bit like charades. You're each going to pretend that you are that farm item, and we're gonna ask you different questions to discover what farm item you are. Makes sense.
Speaker 1:
[04:41] Oh, this sounds fun. TJ, what item did you get?
Speaker 3:
[04:44] I can't quite read it, Mom. It starts with the letter Y.
Speaker 1:
[04:49] Oh, let me see. Oh, TJ, you get to pretend to be yellow hay. Have you seen the yellow hay bundled up in the pasture? It's the fresh hay that the cows like to eat.
Speaker 3:
[05:00] Okay. I can pretend to be yellow hay. No problem. What did you get, Tory?
Speaker 2:
[05:06] I got yummy vegetables. I can easily pretend to be them all. What about you, Mom?
Speaker 1:
[05:11] Oh, I'm not giving mine away that easily. You'll have to guess with the rest of the class.
Speaker 2:
[05:16] Oh, all right.
Speaker 5:
[05:18] All right, class. We'll go one at a time. When it's your turn, we'll ask you questions about what you're pretending to be. If we ask a question that is true about your item, say, I am. If it's not true, say, I am not. Tory, would you like to go first?
Speaker 2:
[05:39] Sure, Farmer Caroline. I'm ready.
Speaker 4:
[05:42] All right, class.
Speaker 5:
[05:43] What questions do we have for Tory?
Speaker 2:
[05:47] Tory, are you something that grows in the ground? I am. Are you something that animals eat? I am not. Are you something that people can eat? I am.
Speaker 3:
[06:01] Are you yellow?
Speaker 2:
[06:03] I am. Are you yam? I am. Yay.
Speaker 5:
[06:11] Great job, class. TJ, would you like to take a turn?
Speaker 3:
[06:17] Sure, I'm ready.
Speaker 5:
[06:19] TJ, are you something that grows in the ground?
Speaker 2:
[06:24] I think so.
Speaker 3:
[06:25] I mean, I am.
Speaker 2:
[06:28] Are you something that animals can eat?
Speaker 3:
[06:31] I am not.
Speaker 2:
[06:33] Are you something that people eat?
Speaker 3:
[06:36] I am.
Speaker 2:
[06:38] TJ, are you the same color as the sunshine?
Speaker 3:
[06:41] The sunshine? You mean yellow? I am.
Speaker 5:
[06:46] Are you yellow hay?
Speaker 3:
[06:49] I am.
Speaker 2:
[06:50] Yay.
Speaker 5:
[06:52] Nice job, TJ. TJ and Tory's mom, would you like to take a turn?
Speaker 1:
[06:59] Sure.
Speaker 2:
[07:00] Mom, are you something that grows in the ground?
Speaker 1:
[07:03] I am not.
Speaker 3:
[07:05] Are you something that animals eat?
Speaker 1:
[07:08] I am not.
Speaker 2:
[07:09] Are you something that people can eat?
Speaker 1:
[07:12] I am not.
Speaker 2:
[07:14] Man, this one is hard.
Speaker 3:
[07:16] Are you a place like the yard or the barn?
Speaker 1:
[07:20] I am not.
Speaker 2:
[07:22] Are you a person like a farmer or someone who feeds the animals?
Speaker 1:
[07:27] I am not.
Speaker 2:
[07:28] Are you something sold in the farm shop?
Speaker 1:
[07:32] I don't think so. Nope, I am not.
Speaker 2:
[07:35] Come on, guys. What can we ask to make her say, I am?
Speaker 6:
[07:41] Did someone just say, I am?
Speaker 5:
[07:44] Mr. Truman, there you are at last. I was hoping you'd join us for this bit.
Speaker 6:
[07:51] Sounds like I got here just in time. Kids, did you know that I am is the meaning of a very special name in the Bible for God?
Speaker 3:
[07:59] We learned this once. What was it again?
Speaker 2:
[08:03] That's right, TJ. It was, yeah. Yeah. I can't remember.
Speaker 6:
[08:09] Yahweh is one of the names in the Bible for God. But it's not just any old name, it's his personal name.
Speaker 2:
[08:16] What's a personal name?
Speaker 6:
[08:18] Well, it's sort of like the name you'd invite other people to call you when they have a special relationship with you. So this isn't a perfect example, but it's sort of like when your family gives you a special nickname that just your family uses when they're talking to you. Do you have a nickname in your family, Tory?
Speaker 2:
[08:35] I do. My dad calls me Nugget. He says the first time he held me in the hospital, I was just a little nugget and it stuck. He seals on how he calls me Nugget.
Speaker 6:
[08:47] I love that. I especially love that when you hear that name, you remember everything that's true about your relationship with your dad. The same is true of God's personal name, Yahweh. It's the name he wants us to hear and immediately remember his promise-keeping character. Here's a little song I wrote about the name Yahweh. When I say, I am, can you echo me by shouting, I am?
Speaker 3:
[09:11] You can try.
Speaker 6:
[09:13] Yes, sing along.
Speaker 3:
[11:56] So God's personal name is I Am.
Speaker 2:
[12:00] And it means He keeps His promises.
Speaker 1:
[12:02] Doesn't it make you feel so, so loved and so confident in God's love that He will never break a promise?
Speaker 2:
[12:08] It sure does. But Mom, we never got you to say I Am. We still haven't guessed what form you are. Well, should I give you a hint?
Speaker 5:
[12:19] Is what we all need.
Speaker 1:
[12:22] I am something that a horse might wear to pull something.
Speaker 3:
[12:27] Isn't it a yoke?
Speaker 1:
[12:29] It is a yoke. It's like a harness that animals wear when they're being led by the farmer. Great job, TJ.
Speaker 5:
[12:37] Great job to the whole class. Now, who's ready to meet Yancy the Yak?
Speaker 2:
[12:45] I am. I am. I am.
Speaker 1:
