Speaker 2:
[01:46] Oh, hi, TJ. What are you doing down there on the ground? Tory, you're home from school. That must mean it's almost time for the extreme explorer challenge. Oh, that's right. I totally forgot that was today. Isn't everyone in the neighborhood participating in it? I think most people are, but I've been getting ready all day. I've been practicing jumping super high and running super fast. I'm going to get first place. First place? Wow, TJ, that's awesome. You want to do so well. What happens if you get first place? Do you get a prize or something? The person who gets first place gets to stand on the tallest award stand, and they get a medal. Wow, that does seem fun. What do I need to do to get ready? I want to do well too. Well, I think we better start by jumping as high as we can. Want to see how high you can jump? Uh, sure, how can we measure how high we can jump? Let's see, why don't we jump over by that tree? Let's see who can jump and reach the tallest branch. Excellent idea, TJ. Okay, you go first. Jump as high as you can, and I'll watch to see what branch you can touch. Okay, here I go. Excellent, Tory, you touched the second to the lowest branch. That's pretty high. All of these branches are pretty tall, but I bet I can beat you. I'm the best jumper ever. The best ever? Okay, let's see what you got. Good jump, TJ. You got the branch just above the one I got. That's pretty good. You must have been practicing your jumps before I got here. I was. I want to be the highest jumper. Well, you jumped higher than me. What's next? Let's see who can climb the highest in the tree. The person who can climb the highest is the winner. All right, I'm ready. No, Tory, you got to go first last time. I want to go first this time. Well, okay, I guess. Tory, look how high I've climbed. I bet you can't beat me. Whoa, you are extra high up there. I'm not sure I even want to climb that high. Does it feel safe, TJ? Climb as high as you can, Tory. You won't be first, I'm sure of that. Well, all right, here I go. I think this is about as high as I want to climb. I want to make sure I know how to get down. Ha ha, you lose, Tory. I'm the highest climber. Just make sure you get down safely, TJ. You don't want to get hurt before the extreme explorer challenge, would you? I just told you that I was the best climber. I'll climb down slowly and... TJ, oh no! TJ, are you okay? Oh, I fell out of the tree and my arm really hurt. I landed on it funny. Tory, help me. TJ, I don't... I don't know what to do. Just lay really still. Don't move. I'm going to get mom.

Speaker 1:
[05:32] Tory, I'm just so thankful that you came and got me right away.

Speaker 2:
[05:36] Mom, I didn't know what else to do to help. Oh, my arm hurts.

Speaker 1:
[05:40] I'm sure it does, sweetie. We're going to get you to Dr. X's office right away. She'll do an X-ray, and we'll be able to see if anything is seriously wrong with your arm. I'm so sorry you fell. I wish you hadn't climbed so high. It really wasn't safe where you were climbing.

Speaker 2:
[05:56] Mom, I just wanted to win first place in the Xtreme Explorer Challenge. TJ, I'm so sorry, but you probably won't be able to compete today. Not with your arm hurting like that. What? But how will I stand on the highest spot, on the award stand, if I can't compete? Aw, man. I practiced all day. Jumping high, climbing high, and look, it didn't even get me a spot in the challenge.

Speaker 1:
[06:27] TJ, I'm sorry, you won't be able to compete. Making sure your arm is healthy is much more important than participating today. But I also think you missed something important about today's Neighborhood Challenge.

Speaker 2:
[06:40] What did I miss?

Speaker 1:
[06:42] Do you know the kind of challenges that were being included?

Speaker 2:
[06:45] I figured it was all about being the best, the fastest, the highest.

Speaker 1:
[06:51] You guessed wrong. Today's challenge was actually all about how low you can go. I heard there's going to be a slither slide on the ground to see who can slide the farthest on their belly. There's also a limbo line that will see how far back you can bend. There's also a crawling challenge that will see how close to the ground people can race.

Speaker 2:
[07:11] What? What do any of those challenges have to do with being the best?

Speaker 1:
[07:17] Well I don't know exactly why they chose these challenges for the Extreme Explorer Challenge, but I do know this. They remind me of what it means to be exalted.

Speaker 2:
[07:28] Exalted?

Speaker 1:
[07:29] Yes, exalted.

Speaker 2:
[07:31] But how is getting low the way to be made high?

Speaker 1:
[07:35] That's exactly the point, TJ. You see, when the Bible talks about Jesus' exaltation, it's talking about how Jesus humbled himself to become man. He took our sin on himself and died the death we deserve. That is true humility. He made himself low in our place, even though he was the king of kings.

Speaker 2:
[07:55] But Jesus didn't stay dead, did he?

Speaker 1:
[07:58] That's right, Tory. Because of Jesus' death and resurrection, the Father exalted him. Jesus has the place of honor above every other person or king or ruler. He has been exalted, lifted up high, high, high, all because he was willing to be made low. Looks like we're here, TJ. Let's get that arm looked at.

Speaker 3:
[08:30] All right, TJ, let's hold really still for this X-ray, okay?

Speaker 2:
[08:34] Okay.

Speaker 1:
[08:36] TJ, Dr. X knows what she's doing, and she's going to take excellent care of you. I'm right here, too.

Speaker 2:
[08:42] Thanks, Mom.

Speaker 3:
[08:44] All right, TJ, can you place your arm just like this for me? That's perfect. Okay, I'm going over there to push that button, which will take a picture of the bones inside your arm. You're going to hear a beep when I push it. Just hold really still.

Speaker 2:
[09:05] Okay.

Speaker 1:
[09:06] TJ, I'll need to stand over there while she takes the x-ray, but I'll be watching the whole time.

Speaker 3:
[09:12] Okay, TJ, hold still. Perfect, TJ. Now turn your arm just like this. Perfect. I'm going to take another picture. Excellent, TJ. One more picture. Hold your arm just like this. Nice. Excellent job, TJ. Okay. Now, let's take a look at these pictures. The good news, TJ, is that you didn't break your arm. It just looks like it's a little bruised from your fall. It's going to hurt for a little while, and you'll want to put some ice on it, but you'll be okay.

Speaker 2:
[10:12] Wahoo! So maybe I can join the Xtreme Explorer Challenge after all.

Speaker 3:
[10:18] Well, that's the bad news, TJ. I want you to rest your arm today. Maybe just go watch the challenge, and make sure you don't climb quite so high in the tree next time.

Speaker 1:
[10:32] Thank you, Dr. X. That is great news. TJ, I'm so glad it's not broken. Would you like to go watch the challenge today?

Speaker 2:
[10:40] I guess.

Speaker 1:
[10:42] I know it's not what you wanted, sweetie. I'm sure you're disappointed.

Speaker 2:
[10:46] It's not just that, Mom.

Speaker 1:
[10:48] What is it, TJ?

Speaker 2:
[10:49] It's just that... Well, I knew that I was too focused on winning today. I wanted to be exalted. I wanted the highest place on the award stand. And because I was so focused on it, I was unkind to Tory when we were practicing.

Speaker 1:
[11:07] I see. Well, Tory is here now. Do you want to talk to her about it?

Speaker 2:
[11:12] Tory, I'm sorry I wasn't very kind when we were practicing together. I was too focused on being lifted up, that I, well, I was unkind to you. Will you forgive me? I do forgive you, TJ. And you know what? You just did something like Jesus did. I, I did? You did. You went low, TJ. When we say we're sorry, we're exhibiting humility, right, Mom?

Speaker 1:
[11:40] That's exactly right, Tory.

Speaker 2:
[11:42] You made yourself low and humility like Jesus did. I mean, Jesus didn't do anything wrong. And he never needed to say sorry, but he was humble. He made himself low and you did too, TJ.

Speaker 1:
[11:56] What a great reminder. Thank you, Tory.

Speaker 2:
[11:59] Now come on. Let's go watch the rest of the challenge. I hear Mr. Truman is playing a concert at the end.

Speaker 1:
[12:16] Looks like we got here just in time to hear Mr. Truman sing.

Speaker 2:
[12:20] And it looks like all of the challenges are done now. I wonder who won.

Speaker 4:
[12:26] Hey everybody, before we announce the winners, I'd love to share with you a new song all about something you just did, Going Low. This song is all about how Jesus went low and God lifted him high. So every time you hear the words low, low, low in the song, put your hands down toward the ground. And every time you hear the words high, high, high, lift your hands as high as you can. Here we go.

Speaker 2:
[15:11] Jesus went low, and God lifted him high. Exultation, cool.

Speaker 4:
[15:17] And now to announce today's winners. Help me welcome, in third place, Mrs. D. Livery. And in second place, Mr. Reed. Oh wow, never thought I'd get second place. Thank you so much. And in first place, we have Coach Faith. Everybody give it up for our winners.
