Speaker 1:
[00:19] Bedtime stories with Netflix Jr. The Sneetches, The Case of the Missing Pets.

Speaker 2:
[00:31] On a warm sunny day on the Island of Sneetch, Stella was walking along on the beach. There was Pep in her step and a strut in her stride. And her pet monkey Bean was right by her side.

Speaker 3:
[00:46] Come on, Bean, just a little further. I know you're tired, but her friends will be here any...

Speaker 4:
[00:54] Stella!

Speaker 3:
[00:55] Pearl! Aw, hi Dudley.

Speaker 5:
[01:01] Who's the cutest crab in the world?

Speaker 3:
[01:03] You are, yes you are. Of course you two can go play.

Speaker 2:
[01:12] And just don't go too far.

Speaker 3:
[01:18] Now, come on, come on, come on. Let's play something too.

Speaker 4:
[01:22] What should we play?

Speaker 3:
[01:24] Hmm. Oh, I know. Sit back, relax, and get ready for... Guess that sound. Ooh, yeah, fun.

Speaker 4:
[01:41] Uh, how do you play? Psh, easy.

Speaker 3:
[01:44] Just close your eyes and I'll make a sound. Then you guess what I'm doing to make that sound.

Speaker 4:
[01:50] Sounds good. You get it? Because you're making a... Never mind.

Speaker 3:
[01:57] Okay. Are your eyes closed? Yep. Then get ready to guess that sound.

Speaker 4:
[02:11] Hmm, are you digging in the sand? Nope.

Speaker 3:
[02:15] Listen again.

Speaker 4:
[02:21] I know, you're sketching with a pencil.

Speaker 3:
[02:25] Yeah, you got it.

Speaker 4:
[02:27] Oh, yeah. Now it's my turn. Are you peeking?

Speaker 1:
[02:32] Nope.

Speaker 4:
[02:34] Then get ready to guess that sound.

Speaker 3:
[02:45] Are you playing a kazoo? Nope.

Speaker 1:
[02:48] Guess again.

Speaker 3:
[02:51] Is that a zipper? Yep.

Speaker 4:
[02:55] I was zipping up my trusty tool belt.

Speaker 3:
[02:58] Ah, good one. Okay, now get ready, cause this one's gonna be hard. Ready.

Speaker 2:
[03:04] All right.

Speaker 3:
[03:05] Then guess that sound.

Speaker 4:
[03:14] Um, I'm not sure.

Speaker 3:
[03:17] I'll give you a hint. You do this every night before bed.

Speaker 4:
[03:25] Are you brushing your teeth?

Speaker 6:
[03:28] Yep.

Speaker 3:
[03:29] You got it.

Speaker 4:
[03:31] This is fun. Do you think Dudley and Bean want to play?

Speaker 6:
[03:35] Yeah.

Speaker 3:
[03:36] But where are Dudley and Bean? I don't see them.

Speaker 4:
[03:44] That's strange.

Speaker 3:
[03:46] Strange, you say?

Speaker 4:
[03:49] Petey!

Speaker 3:
[03:51] It's Detective Pete. Where do you come from? Were you hiding in that bush? As a matter of fact, I was looking for my next case. And it looks like my next case has found me. Question. When exactly did your pets go missing?

Speaker 4:
[04:10] Well, we were all together on the beach a little while ago. Then Stella and I played a game, and when we looked for Bean and Dudley, they were gone.

Speaker 3:
[04:17] Hmm. Okay, fine. I'll take your case. You can stop begging.

Speaker 2:
[04:25] Uh, but we weren't...

Speaker 3:
[04:26] I'll call this The Case of the Missing Pets. Follow me.

Speaker 2:
[04:34] This was stranger than strange, and weirder than weird. Why in the world had their pets disappeared? They searched the whole beach and looked all around till they suddenly heard a very strange sound.

Speaker 3:
[04:54] Oh! Do you hear that? It sounds like... Dudley! Aha! The sound is coming from the forest. This way! The sound is getting louder. Dudley must be right over there. Follow me, and don't make a sound.

Speaker 6:
[05:31] Sorry to startle you. Whoops.

Speaker 3:
[05:35] You're not Dudley.

Speaker 6:
[05:36] Can't say that I am. My name's Willy McWumble. I'm a woodpecker. That's why I'm here. Pecking away.

Speaker 4:
[05:44] Oh, we thought you were my pet crab. You didn't happen to see him, did you?

Speaker 6:
[05:51] As a matter of fact, I think I did. Little blue fella walking around with the monkey.

Speaker 4:
[05:55] Yes!

Speaker 3:
[05:56] Those are our missing pets. And where, may I ask, did you see them?

Speaker 6:
[06:02] They were headed that way. They had their arms full with a blanket and pillows, and it looked like they were in a hurry.

Speaker 3:
[06:09] A blanket and pillows?

Speaker 4:
[06:12] Why would Dudley and Bean be carrying a blanket and pillows? It's not even bedtime.

Speaker 3:
[06:18] The plot thickens. Well, if Bean and Dudley went that way, then that's where we'll go too. Thanks for your help, Willy.

Speaker 6:
[06:27] My pleasure.

Speaker 2:
[06:33] Stella and Pearl were starting to worry. They searched and they searched and they searched in a hurry. The Sneetches continued looking around when Petey saw something quite strange on the ground.

Speaker 3:
[06:48] Ah-ha!

Speaker 4:
[06:49] What did you find, Petey?

Speaker 3:
[06:50] It's Detective Pete.

Speaker 4:
[06:54] What did you find, Detective Pete?

Speaker 3:
[06:58] I found a hair, a hair on the stair.

Speaker 4:
[07:04] A hair on the stair?

Speaker 3:
[07:09] That's Bean's fur. I'd recognize that orange color anywhere.

Speaker 4:
[07:14] But those stairs lead all the way to the tree houses. Why would they go up there?

Speaker 3:
[07:19] I don't know, but it's time to find out. If Bean and Dudley climbed those stairs, then we'll climb them too.

Speaker 2:
[07:28] They climbed and they climbed and then climbed some more. They climbed till they reached the very top floor.

Speaker 3:
[07:39] Oh, boy. That's a lot of stairs. I don't...

Speaker 4:
[07:45] see...

Speaker 1:
[07:46] the pets.

Speaker 3:
[07:51] Me neither. But look! Someone's over there! We can ask her if she saw Dudley and Bean. Excuse me, ma'am? Did you happen to see an orange monkey and a blue crab around here?

Speaker 5:
[08:13] Why, yes! I did.

Speaker 3:
[08:16] And what, may I ask, were they doing when you saw them?

Speaker 5:
[08:20] Now, let's see... They were carrying a blanket and pillows and a very large umbrella.

Speaker 4:
[08:30] Why would they have an umbrella? It's not supposed to rain today.

Speaker 3:
[08:36] Mysterious, indeed.

Speaker 5:
[08:39] Oh, then the monkey saw some fruit and dropped everything to go eat it.

Speaker 3:
[08:46] Sounds like Bean all right.

Speaker 4:
[08:48] Do you know where they went?

Speaker 5:
[08:50] Not exactly, but they took the elevator down to the forest floor.

Speaker 3:
[08:55] Well, if Bean and Dudley took the elevator, then that's what we'll do, too.

Speaker 4:
[09:00] Thanks for your help.

Speaker 2:
[09:01] Anytime. Inside the elevator, they closed the door and rode straight down to the forest floor. But once they were there, they weren't sure where to go. Were the pets in the forest? They just didn't know. Then Petey discovered a brand new clue and suddenly knew what he needed to do.

Speaker 3:
[09:33] Aha! Behold another clue! Um, I think that's just dirt. It may look like dirt to the naked eye, but when you look through my magnifying glass...

Speaker 4:
[09:49] Footprints!

Speaker 3:
[09:51] Two sets of footprints! Oh, yeah! There are big ones and teeny tiny ones! They must belong to Dudley and Bean.

Speaker 4:
[10:01] The footprints are headed that way.

Speaker 3:
[10:03] Well, if Bean and Dudley went that way, then that's where we'll go, too!

Speaker 2:
[10:10] The Sneetches all did what Petey had said. They followed the prints wherever they led. They zigged and they zagged. They wiggled and swerved. They wobbled and waggled. They looped and they curved. Stella felt that the pets were just within reach when the footsteps led all the way back to…

Speaker 3:
[10:34] the beach. The beach? We're back where we started. Does anyone see Dudley or Bean? Hmm.

Speaker 4:
[10:45] Look over there.

Speaker 3:
[10:49] Aha! A picnic blanket, pillows, and a beach umbrella. These are the items that Dudley and Bean were spotted with. The pets must be close by.

Speaker 4:
[11:00] But…

Speaker 3:
[11:01] I don't see them anywhere.

Speaker 4:
[11:04] Any more clues, Peepy?

Speaker 3:
[11:09] No. Just that walking picnic basket. Walking picnic basket? Wait a minute. Picnic baskets don't walk by themselves. That must be… Dudley and Bean!

Speaker 4:
[11:27] You're back! Where were you? We were so worried!

Speaker 3:
[11:34] You wanted to make us a sunset picnic?

Speaker 4:
[11:38] You mean you did all of this for us? Uh-huh.

Speaker 6:
[11:42] Oh!

Speaker 5:
[11:44] Best pets ever!

Speaker 3:
[11:46] And best detective ever! The Case of the Missing Pets is closed. Now, if you'll excuse me, there's a strange smell over there. And I'm gonna find out what it is.

Speaker 4:
[12:02] Thanks for your help, Petey!

Speaker 3:
[12:04] Detective Pete! Well, what do you think? Should we get cozy and watch the sunset? Oh, yeah. Look at those waves. They're so big.

Speaker 4:
[12:30] I love the way they sound.

Speaker 2:
[12:39] The girls sat back and watched the pink sky as the sun went down and the moon rose high.

Speaker 3:
[12:56] I guess Dudley and Bean were pretty tired. They fell asleep.

Speaker 4:
[13:02] It must have taken a lot of energy to put all of this together.

Speaker 3:
[13:10] Is there anything better than pets?

Speaker 4:
[13:13] The only thing better than pets is pets, and best friends, and picnics on the beach.

Speaker 3:
[13:20] Yeah. You're right.

Speaker 2:
[13:28] This day was over. This day was done. But they'd wake up tomorrow, ready for fun.
